How did you feel after you took the NCLEX?
I just paid for my early result and bam! Passed! Successful PVT
-
How did you feel after you took the NCLEX?
I just got home from taking the NCLEX and I must say that I cautiously optimistic and appropriately nervous. Admittedly, I just tried the PVT, and I got the pop up. Fingers crossed! I just had to share with somebody until I know for sure and can shout it from the rooftops!

Moving to Colorado RN
Colorado native here... University of Colorado and Denver Health, which is downtown, hire BSN only. As a new grad looking for a job here as well, I can tell you that most of the hospitals will want to see that you are actively, or at least planning on, getting your BSN. The metro area is fairly large here, and there are great networks of trails and outdoor activities wherever you go. Like Kmiller255 said, the surrounding areas vary in housing prices. But, within each of those communities, there is generally a hospital. Check out Parker, Golden, Littleton, and the Boulder area if you are brave enough Westminster, Thornton, Brighton, Aurora, and Castle Rock are good options as well.

1st RN interview tomorrow! Advice?
I agree with Lev. You can mention something general about your experience as a patient, but they are not allowed to probe for details about why you were a patient. Really, it's none of their business and I would hate if they held it against you.

Backpack for nursing school?
I use a regular Jansport backpack that I have had for years. It really depends on your schedule. I usually only have one or two classes a day, with time in between to swap books if needed. Plus, carrying the extra weight on the long walk from the parking lot adds a cardio boost!

For the love of God, I cannot figure out why my pretend pt is taking Flagyl!!!
In my experience working with ob/gyn, Flagyl was often used to treat BV, or bacterial vaginosis. Irritation, swelling, and malodorous discharge are common symptoms.

Let's Do this thing
Halfway through my first day now. Pinch me! It hasn't quite hit me yet

Textbooks cheaper.
I just submitted my order to B&N last night, and I saved about 150$ compared to the bookstore at school. Some of the books were cheaper new online than they were used in the bookstore!

Medical Assistant to RN
I have been working as a MA for the last 2+ years, and will be starting NS this fall. Are there any other MA's that have made the transition to Nursing that can tell me how the skills I use now will benefit me in school? Are most of the skills I already have covered in the first semester?

To all the students about to start nursing school...
Thank you so much for your honest, simple, and honest advice! I start 8/20, and the anxiety keeps rising, as well as the fear of failing and the unknown. Good luck on your exam!

Uniforms
I had the pleasure of ordering mine today. Ceil blue top, navy bottoms.... Not bad. However, they are the worst cut Cherokee offers. The tops are so boxy, and I have way more hips than waist, there is either too much fabric on the back or its snug on the hips. Some sort of darting or ties would make a huge difference. The pants have TAPERED legs with an elastic waist.... . The pants I got from Wal-Mart are half the price and 10x more flattering

What are you going to miss the most...
I will miss lazy weekends! :zzzzz I will also miss being able to procratinate... I am a master at it, and will need to learn quickly (and possibly painfully) that it won't fly in NS.

Front Range Community College's nursing program in Westminster
I will be starting at the Westminster campus this fall, and the hours are when most people work. Generally speaking, the hours are Mon-Thu 830-4, but everyday is different. If you have a job that doesnt have traditional hours, like 8-5 M-F, you may be able to work evenings and weekends. Unfortunately, I work in a physicians office, and will be leaving my position. I have tried for a few months now to find something part time, but as you may have heard, the current job market isn't great.

Anyone else feel this way?
I understand what you are feeling, and I am positive we are not the only ones. It is the fear of failure that is creeping in, and it is natural. Making the decision to embark on a journey that you hear so my others fail out can sure scare the bejeezus out of you. But I feel like there are those of us that know, deep down, that this is what we are meant for. If we do the work that is required of us, we will make it through.
