I was just thinking about how im gonna get my family and friends to understand that i
Im gonna need extra help around the house(spouse) and i need tons of support not to mention i will have less time for friends.... Im really worried my fiance wont put in the extra effort around the house and help with the kids more while i study. i was wondering if anyone had a way to make him realize Nursing school is not gonna be easy and that im gonna need more help than ever. And my friends i dont know if i can make them realize that for the next two years im not gonna be able to spend as much time with them, ANY IDEAS? Thank you

my school had us order a specific kit and our stethoscope was purchased separately. The kit i ordered from the school did not have a thermometer only disposable and it did have a pretty good pen light=) the stethoscope i bought was $65 its an MD ONE brad and it works really well, it has been compared to the littmen and i love it! Hope that helps a bit Good lucck in nursing school!

Textbooks cheaper.
Just paid for my books online and i cant wait to get them! REALLY WANT TO skim through them:bugeyes:..... I wanted to let everyone know that if you are gonna buy your textbooks online (instead of at school) which is by the way a lot more expensive! Get them at barnesandnobles.com they even give free shipping =) I start friday and if i had bought my books through my school bookstore my bill would have been well over $900 but instead i got them for $739 saved myself almost $200 that way! Just wanted to help you all out, good luck to everyone starting nursing school and congrats!:yelclap:

Nursing school jitters....
I start the ADN program next friday and im getting very anxious about it. Ive been looking forward to it but the closer it gets the more scared i feel. I feel like maybe i wont be good enough to pass especially reading that its super hard. I know it wont be easy, i totally get that, but ive been reading lots of posts stating that your life stops while your in the program.... Some posts make it seem like its almost impossible and then the posts about mean instructors... I went on rateyourproffesor.com. and found that i have instructors like that in my school=( anyway, I know i can do this, its just that reading stuff like that makes me doubt myself.. I know it will be hard but i also feel like it will also be fun, i love learning new things especially when it comes to the human body and helping people and I know that i will become an amazing nurse someday, any help or advice with the nursing school jitters?

Overwelmed studying for the TEAS exam
Order The TEAS V book and the practice tests on the ATI website, study your weakest points. Then take one of the practice exams. It will tell you what you need to study and even give you the page numbers.... I studied everything over and over until i knew all of it. passed with advanced scores. Hope this helps=) this book and practice exams really helped me, i didnt pass the first time i took it but after i learned about the book and practice tests i passed with flying colors. Good luck

Hardest Subject Ever: Math
Since you wont have much time to study the whole book i suggest you go over the math the most, seems like your other scores were pretty high. Take the ATI practice tests online and it will tell you your weak points and even which page to find it in the book and go over that.. I didnt do so well on my first TEAS exam mainly because of math too but i passed mine with an 89.7 (90% in math) this time and its because i studied my weak points(mainly math) i took 3 ATI practice tests and that really helped me focus on what i really needed to study. Make as much time as you can to study too, i took my book with me everywhere, even took my two little ones to the park while i sat on a bench and studied. YOU CAN DO THIS! GOOD LUCK

Anyone else feel this way?
I start on Aug 17th, i too am having the same feelings... Im so excited to have finally got in, this is my dream in life but at the same time as the day gets closer and closer to my start date im getting very scared and nervous. I keep thinking that maybe im not smart enough to actually pass=( i went to a meet an greet last month with the new and returning nursing students and i felt out of place, as if i didnt belong but my best friend said "really?" why dont you belong? you got in and you worked hard for it! Yes that is so true, i did work hard, trying to get into nursing school with 4 kids is not an easy task for sure.... anyway Im glad im not the only one having these intimidating thoughts, im thinking they are probably normal nursing school jitters! Ive got it bad:uhoh3: but i know if i work hard i will suceed and become an amazing nurse oneday:nurse: Well I hope that we all get over some of our nursing school jitters after we get started, once we actually know exactly what we are going to be faced with! Good luck everyone!
