  1. No I can't drop any. They're all part of my first semester in nursing school. It's just a total of 17 credits (two classes is 1 credit each and the rest are 3) even though it feels like it's more than that haha.
  2. My third time was my lowest and my first was my highest which was a 70% I think? My GPA was a 3.9 :) I'm just terrible at taking tests, I have test anxiety lol. We're you thinking of applying to this program?
  3. I am taking about 8 classes this semester (registered for 7, but in one class we are taught both nursing math and a different course separately). It's so challenging to study for my skills, on top of 3-5 chapters of reading assignments, on top of weekly quizzes and essays, on top of thoroughly understanding the concept and not just getting them done, and acing everything I'm assigned to do. So so overwhelming for me. I also want that invitation from STTI (Sigma Theta Tau International) at the end of my junior year. I feel quite discourage that I'm unable to handle all this stress and work. Once I overcome this week and feel like I actually completed my to-do list, come Sunday night I'm back to feeling behind all over again. When does the stress end?! Lol.
  4. Our class graduates in 2015 and we have two years to save up and have a really awesome graduation. Does anybody have any tips on what to do? We have plans to fundraise about 2-3 times per semester. Our BSN program is only 2 years. Any fundraising ideas or financial advice are appreciated. Thank you!
  5. How do I go about doing this? I checked the website and it didnt help me. I was thinking of calling on Monday but figured to get help even before Monday. I attend University of Hawaii at Hilo School of Nursing. Our school does not have a chapter and as president of our cohort, I want our class to establish it for the school. Is it too late in the semester already? We recently just formed our student goverent as well. Thank you for the tips! PS- if anybody knows of more student nurses' organizations please list them below!
  6. So following up from my previous posts dated back about a year or so ago, I got accepted into my first choice! I chose Hilo because of their 2 year BSN program Anyway, my orientation week begins on August 20th. What should I expect during this week? Any survival tips for my first year? Clinicals, study tips ESP. on exams, organizational skills, etc. So excited, yippie :)
  7. Does any nursing/pre-nursing student know anything about University of Hawai'i at Hilo's Nursing Program? What do they look for? Pre-reqs GPA, Cumm. GPA, what about the competitive score of the ATI-TEAS? (I'm doing it the 3rd time this coming December and my previous scores were 66% and 69% respectively- NO IMPROVEMENTS AT ALL I'm trying to apply for Fall 2013! I'm already taking the additional pre-reqs for them right now for Fall 2012 (Chem 141, NURS 375, NURS 348) and so far so good- all a's. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks guys!
  8. Hey callie! What other dummy books did you borrow and their specific titles? I'm going to my school's library tomorrow to brush up on stuff but don't know which book to get. Btw, do you have any further advices on reading comprehension? I'm so terrible at inferring, understanding the main idea/title, or what have you. I read my textbooks and I get it just fine! But obviously I'm not as good as I think coming from the TEAS. thank you for your help :)
  9. Do you mean referencing some of those "English Websites" you used to practice on? And any other websites you used to help you prepare for reading comprehension, math, and science too please. I need to practice as much as I can come my test date in December
  10. First test: 66.7% Second test: 69.3% SERIOUSLY?! What is wrong with me?! It's so hard to accept because my health science GPA is a 3.9 (my school looks at that and the TEAS Score). Perhaps the way I study isn't working? I chose to do it over midterms so you should understand that distributing my time evenly for each class + this test was difficult if I wanted to get As in all of them. Thus, this test became my least priority and I only gave myself about two weeks to study. I thought that maybe reading the ATI-TEAS workbook and the Kaplan would help as well as being able to do a last minute practice test the night before. It's obvious that I didn't do enough practice test and each of my averages totaled to a 70%. The the things that I did worse in were: -READING COMPREHENSION: Paragraph and passage comprehension (a whopping 47.4% from a 52% on my first test) but my overall score was a 69% -MATH: My math went up from 40% (I actually ran out of time on my first test) and it went up to 63.3%. The main ones that I got stuck on were measurement, numbers and operations, and algebraic applications. Math is my weakest subject and I avoid it all the time because I hate feeling incompetent. -SCIENCE: this went down too from a 77% to a 75% and I thought I was good in science???? I just took my first organic chemistry exam and I scored a 103/100 and I was the highest in class so WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! I love science!!! I got a 100% on AP but the most ugly ratings were for Earth/Physical Science as well as scientific reasoning. How can I improve my scientific reasoning?? I don't know how to study for that... -ENGLISH AND LANGUAGE USAGE: My percentage of grammar and word meanings in a context went down from an 80% to a 66.7%. Jesus, did I all of a sudden forget how to speak or understand English during my exam or something?! The rest were 88.9 for spelling/punctuation and 100% on structure. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have my THIRD try reserved on December 7 this year. THIS WILL BE MY LAST CHANCE to apply for my nursing program who only has 30 seats per fall semester (they don't offer their program in spring). I need to show them that not only am I good with my GPA but I can be competitive too. Lastly, I need to score in the mid-80's to be considered competitive but a 90% is what I prefer. Any suggestions on studying habits, corrections on what I'm doing wrong, and academic advising will all be welcomed. Thanks for reading
  11. thank you everyone for taking the time out to help me! i appreciate it so much and am so humbled by your help/advice. God bless
  12. it feels real good to know that i'm not the only pre-nursing student who struggles in math. but i see that everyone else has their weak points too so it really up-brings my spirit a lot more than before. i will take your advice as well as everyone else's and literally sleep with my book lmao. i'll study it so much that i'd know it like the back of my hand. thank you again and i hope i get a high score like you!!!
  13. wow! i give you props for having so much determination! if you did it, i feel so much more confident that i can too! thank you for inspiring me :) but yes, your reading comp. advice is something i DID NOT do when i was taking my test. i had the opposite idea and it was to read the context thoroughly but that obviously was a fail ;P so thank you again!
  14. ahhh i hope I get a 90 too!! I am so eager to be considered competitive in the TEAS portion for my school's program. I already have a 3.9 GPA for my health sciences (just three more pre-nursing courses to maintain them) and I'm good for this half of my application. I just need to kick a*** for the TEAS and I feel like I'll def. earn myself a seat for the fall 2013 program! Thank you for the reassurance
