Anatomy & Microbiology same semester?
it's possible to take both together, the immunology in microbiology will either be more in depth or complement the topic in the one in A&P 2. I took A&P 1 and Micro along with both of the labs at the same time & got all As in them. you can do it!

Study habits
Anyone got any study suggestions for A&P 2? it's definitely a lot more challenging than A&P 1 due to more physiology instead of anatomy. Next exam is Tuesday & a lot of material I haven't covered yet. Also taking patho concurrently and have gotten solid Bs on 2 exams so far, I don't see how I'm struggling more in A&P than patho lol

Microbiology before finishing A&P?
took micro & A&P together and did fine! but it'll really help if you take it before A&P 2 and patho 1 :) good luck!

Pathophysiology☺Spring 2013

Macbook Pro...
I just downloaded iprocrastinate and updated everything to it .. I like it so far .. this being my first time using it

Macbook Pro...
I'm not too sure about the iPad and kindle because I don't own one. but for PDF .. on preview you are able to click on a certain area of the page and write whatever you want. it's pretty simple once you find out where everything is at.

Pathophysiology☺Spring 2013
I'm taking Pathophysiology part 1, it's taught by an MSN-RN CCRN at the nursing campus, even tho I'm still pre nursing. I'm excited to start on Monday, I've downloaded the lectures and skimmed through the textbook (thinner than my A&P and micro book surprisingly) it seems interesting. good luck to everyone else taking patho this semester, lets all shoot for an A

Macbook Pro...
I use iCal for track of quizzes, assignments, exam dates and material covered that day. I use preview or the kindle app for note taking. When the instructor gives us powerpoints I use preview to write anywhere on it .. just like regular paper, also highlighting. same goes for the kindle app except you can't write all over just add notes and highlight! :) you can use iTunes U .. download other instructors lectures that are available online .. they're completely free that helped me somewhat.

Advice for Pathophysiology and A&P 2
I'm good at not procrastinating I learned that from taking A&P and micro together last semester. hopefully this semester is a little easier and less stressful :)

Advice for Pathophysiology and A&P 2
that's what I figured on the physiological aspect. I've heard different on the intensity of the courses, I heard that A&P 1 was harder than A&P 2 but who knows until you take the course I guess. Patho I have an instructor that is good but very tough. Hopefully I learn a lot out of her :)

Advice for Pathophysiology and A&P 2
great!! hopefully I'll enjoy it too, I skimmed through my textbook, I'm excited about the cardiovascular system. I don't know much about my instructor but my A&P 1 instructor was amazing too bad she didn't get to teach the second part. thanks for the advice :)

Advice for Pathophysiology and A&P 2
Hi all. Just wanted some advice on pathophysiology and A&P 2, which I'll be taking this semester. I'm really nervous about both classes. Is A&P 2 harder than A&P 1? Is patho similar to A&P?

RN or MD
thanks cocoabean :) I know I was lookin at the BA/MD program but I'm not sure as well

RN or MD
Thanks for the information y'all. I've always been set on Nursing but my mind kind of wandered this past semester & i started researching the MD path at my university, and i saw that it's open to all majors but most accepted are Biochem, Bio & Chem majors. Although i'm native american, Navajo to be exact, that the medical school gives priority to our tribe in getting accepted. The prerequisites i've taken for the BSN program is not the same for the med school, we've taken different biology & chemistry classes. I've looked at the MSN route and figured that'd be pretty good too since you could do the same but not as much as a physician. The PA program at my school is highly competitive with acceptance of only 20 students i believe, i might be wrong. thanks again :)

RN or MD
Hey everyone! I'm wondering if it's possible to become an RN then transition to an MD? I'm kinda in the crossroads between Nursing school & Med school at the moment. Just thinking about both options. Your opinions would be awesome :) thanks

Has anyone taken A&P and Microbiology in the same semester????
it's totally doable!! it's mainly time management based on what subject is discussed that week .. I took both in the same semester and passed both classes with As and their labs as well.

Am i a nerd
no shame in that! I'm reading my patho book for next semester. it just decreases the workload out on you in the beginning :)

It Can Be Done!
hey everyone! just thought I'd give whoever reads this a heads up if planning on taking 3 science classes together with labs. it can be done .. but it was one of my stressful semesters yet. I took A&P I lecture and lab, microbiology lecture and lab & human nutrition. I pulled all As in them except Nutrition which I got a B!! just so you know :)
-
What classes did you pair with A&P I (Anatomy)?
I paired with A&P 1 the complementary lab, microbiology and the lab for it as well, a 300 level linguistics course and human nutrition. it was an intense semester!! glad I'm finished with it :)
-
Advice on Schedule Please!!
that person is over exaggerating! A&P will take most of your time, it's not difficult just a lot of information to comprehend. psych & socio should be cake and I'm not sure about stats! good luck! :)

Spring'13 Schedule

Spring 2013
@kcoleman1 many people discouraged me too on taking micro, A&P 1 and Nutrition along with the labs, together .. my instructor even told me that I would not be able I do it. but I'm pulling As in all except nutrition .. getting by with a B. although this has been one of the toughest semesters by far .. but don't regret not taking them together either it opened up a lot of good studying skills :)

What is a microbiology lab practical like?
We had two, a midterm & a final. our midterm we were given either an unknown gram + or gram - organism we had to properly perform the gram strain to figure that out along being graded on how well we perform them with aseptic techniques and interpretation. from there we ran another series of test associated with your gram + or - organism. the final we were given a broth culture with two unknown organisms (one gram + & gram - organism), we had to isolate each bacteria and identify them via dichotomous keys. after finding out which organisms were identified we are required to write a detailed report on our isolations. the midterm was harder than the final. :)
