RN wanting RCIS
Google Wes Tod. He has all the study materials available. If you are already a Cath Lab RN then adding RCIS to your resume can do nothing but help to make you more marketable. I am a Cath Lab RN and am studying for RCIS now. So far the only people that have discouraged me are techs that think I want to take their job.

Travel nursing with an RV
I travel with my fifth wheel toy hauler and would never go back to supplied housing. This is truly HOME for me. apartments never seemed like home.

Question about obtaining bids
In my experience it is all in what you can negotiate. If you are not really serious at this time then it will be a colossal waste of both you and a recruiter's time. Besides, in a couple of years all the information that you get today may no longer be valid.

Aureus??
I work for Aureus now and have no problems with them at all. My recruiter is a doll and has truly become a friend. She looks after me and my son like I was her big brother and he was her favorite nephew. I have no complaints on the pay and housing is great. I have talked to other nurses with Aureus that work at the same assignment and they are not happy with them. Maybe it just depends on the recruiter. Mine is awesome and that has made me love the company.

Signed a contract for ICU, being put on IMC unit
If it is not what you want or are comfortable with back out. I guess you could be held liable for their expenses but only if you accept a different assignment with the same company. Other then that I would think they would have to sue you to get their expenses back. I think I would give the nurse liaison a chance though. In my mind the biggest thing I bring to the table as a traveler, besides my skills, is flexibility. You may like what you hear from the liaison and decide that this particular assignment will benefit your skill more then it would hurt them. I love traveling because I am constantly exposed to different things that I feel expand my skills. Besides I am sure you will not lose any skills in 13 weeks.

Do ALL travel agencys have sucky Insurance??
I spoe with a recruiter not to long ago from a different agency and she told me flat out that their insurance was overpriced and preety crappy anyway. She gave me the contact info for the lady she sends her travelers to to get their own policies. It's Naya Gordon from getinsured.com. She is used to working with travelers.

Travel Nursing with Family!
The only issue I ran into with me family is the sheer volume of stuff that a family has. We had to rent a uhaul to move all the stuff so it became an expensive burden so i stopped traveling. This time around it is just my and my 12 year old son so we can limit the stuff we carry with us. We do have a trailer that I pull with our motorcycles in it that gives us some extra carrying capacity.

Ways to get a new recruiter?
You are the boss! The company only makes money when YOU do the work. Make sure they remember that and just climb up the supervisor ladder until you get the answer you want. I had the same issue with my company and it was easy as soon as I got it in my mind that you do not really work for them, they work for you because they do not make anything unless you go do the work.

Need advice
Not yes but HECK YES. One of my favorite things about being a traveler is by the time you are there long enough to start to feel the pressure of the hospital politics, it's time for your next adventure. Talk to several companies, do your homework, find a recruiter that you are comfortable with and have a blast. The only requirement is being open to different ways of doing things. After so long in one place, that might be your biggest hurdle to overcome. If you are flexible by nature you will do great and the adventure is awesome.

Health insurance for family while traveling
I know it's been awhile since you posted this but I have an answer for you. I recently spoke to a recruiter from a different company then mine. She gave me the name and number of a lady that is an insurance broker that she sends her travelers to because they are cheaper and have better plans than the agency. The website is http://www.getinsured.com. If anyone needs the specific lady's name and number just PM me and I'll get it to you.

I will look into that school, thanks. Right now we are in the process of signing him up with a Louisiana public school that is online. Have to see how that goes.

Traveling with Kids
My next assignment my son will be coming with me. It's going to be the school break but as of now the plans are theat he will live with me on the road long term and attend school online. Has anyone else done this before? Am I setting him and I both up for a disaster of some sort? His mother and sister are remaining at home since they both have no desire to see the country. He and I are both rambling souls evidently. Can anyone give me advice on making this an easier transition for both he and I?

I am in Milwaukee right now. Summer is coming and I wish I was going to be able to stay but there are no needs in Cath Lab here that I have been able to find. Summer here should be fantastic with Summerfest music festival, Wisconsin State Fair, and a festival every weekend. I REALLY wish I could stay but it is just not in the cards.
