I got a job offer for a PRN level 1 position in Houston for $28/hour plus any shift differentials. This position requires you to work at least two shifts every four weeks. It's about $6 less than what I make with my full time job. I have 4 years of experience and certified. Is this the typical rate for PRN in houston? I was under the impression that PRN rate is typically higher than full time rate. I don't know if I should accept or not because I don't really have an idea of the pay scale around houston.

I second Texas..houston in particular. A lot of growth and development in the area..and yes they can give u a relocation bonus or a sign on bonus.. Of course u have to stay and work with them for two years. Most of my coworkers' background are SNF, we have a couple of new grads as well.

You have to stay working with them for 2yrs and if you leave before then you will have to pay them back the tuition they reimbursed you

I highly suggest you switch to njcu..almost every hospital in nj i looked at are looking for bsn graduates.

I agree with the other posts..why dont you just answer nclex questions under the topic fundamentals

since you've been reviewing almost every book out there for nclex review why dont you just answer nclex questions. the only thing i did differently for my 2nd try was answer all questions in the nclex4000 program. i kinda played a mock nclex exam, i did the exam mode, answered 75 questions and timed myself, took a break in between. i did that for almost a month or until i finished all questions in the program. lets say under the med/surg cardiovascular topic theres 180 questions available: i selected 75Q exam mode. the ones i got wrong i noted down to review at a later time then do another set of 75, then do the entire 180 at one time (with breaks). you have reviewed the material its time for you to get comfortable in exam mode. try to read some test taking strategies book because it did help me, knowing how to eliminate answers and how to understand the question being asked. some questions did showed up in my nclex that came from nclex4000. it may not be word for word but its was there,some were sata.

new grads that they hired were all bsn, i was the only one hired as rn-bsn

I was hired with my adn but enrolled in bsn program. I was already an employee there so all i did was a transfer. my recruiter did tell me to complete my bsn within 5years or else they will have to let me go. they hire new grads though, last january about 10 of us were new grads and last month they hired 2 new grads on our floor

im not sure if they will but be prepared to wait for a long time..NJ-bon takes forever to process applications.. my guess is that they will ask for your ssn. i suggest you try to get in touch with them to make sure because once you send your application in and its not complete, it might take some time for them to send you a letter for missing info/document.then you will have to wait again so its better to send everything once and complete so you can get your att sooner than later

it varies, depends how much experience you have, what shift, what degree you hold and if you have certifications..try looking up nypnu they have some info

try lenox hill..they just hired 15 nurses about 10 of us are new grads..they also hired about 20 travelers per diem nurses too. as you know lenox hill is now part of nslij and they have this system based orientation for nurses and last week about 80+ nurses were hired for entire system varied from full time,part time per diem. always check nslijcareers.com as they always have a fellowship program. i think they are about to start a labor and delivery fellowship at lenoxhill and about 10 were hired.

Found out from NY BON that they're only processing applications that came in end of april. When did you submit your application? And what they have told me numerous times that it takes 6-8 weeks processing after your payment has been cleared.

I'm sorry to hear that. I felt the same before, knowing everyone got their license and passed the first try. really made me feel bad for a long time..glad I got over it. Take a break first, clear out your mind so you will be ready for a fresh start. have you tried NCLEX 4000? there's about 4000+ questions. Let me know if you haven't done it yet, and I will tell you what I did to study using nclex 4000. Also when you get the report on your exam, any topic that says below or near passing standard focus more on that.

nope I did not do any feuer questions, I just listened to the audio.

First time I took nclex it was 3 months after our graduation..I used Silvestri5E program and answered all the questions in each category. I was so nervous that day and was so pressured by the situation around me (hearing everyone else pass)..I got home that day and did the PVT..went straight to cc. after 2 days I did the quick results and sure enough I failed. I was devastated. I started doubting myself. I set all my books and reviewers aside. After 5 months I submitted my re-application and registered again for the exam. This time I listened to the entire audio clip of Feuers review (taking down notes) and did all the questions in NCLEX 4000. I then reviewed the notes I have taken from feuers audio and nclex 4000. I took the test and most of the questions I had was from the material I studied. I got about 2 drag & drop, 13 sata, priority questions, infection control, and delegation. Stopped at 75 at 2hrs 30mins in. Got home did the PVT again and there in front of me was the good pop-up. Today I did the quick result and I passed! so yes it does work. Don't doubt yourself. If at times you feel like giving up, take a break! Trust me! So again, 8 months after graduation the only thing I used was NCLEX 4000 and listened to the Feuers review audio. When you do practice questions select EXAM and time yourself like you're actually taking the exam. Build up your test taking strategies! Even if you don't know what the disease or the drug is, if you know how to eliminate the answers, identify the stem and what is being asked then you will be fine. *know lab values! *practice a lot of prioritization and delegation questions! *practice sata questions! *read a book on test taking strategies!
