labordude, can you talk more about moving from NICU to L&D? How were you able to make a successful transition to L&D? I'm really interested in going to L&D, but there is an opening in the NICU. What other recommendations do you have to make the transition?

Just wanted to give you some support and say hang in there. I've had a similar experience, having had a job that I've hated and I've recently found another job. You're doing the right thing trying to find another position. There is light at the end of the tunnel :)

Did you do a Kaplan course or just buy the qbank?

Hi! I am a CNA that can also HUC and I wanted to ask, what do you find appealing about either position? I HUC now and while it breaks up the routine from being on the floor it comes with its own stressors. Do you desire to learn the clerical side? Do you see yourself doing it for a long time? As for the ED tech, you'll probably still be doing all of the CNA tasks but will most likely need to know how to do phlebotomy and EKGs...is that something you are willing or excited about doing? How stressful is it working in the ED? I currently work on a med-surg floor and I am thinking of being an ED tech. Also how does it the ED differ from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift?

Have you looked at bls.gov and looked at what the average hourly or annually rate for nurses make in your area? That might help. It also differentiates between what type of facility you work in.

I'm an lna at an nh hospital. I would say pay is starting at $12/hr and up. You may be able to negotiate based on your experience. I applied to elliot hospital, but did not ultimately end up working there. I never heard from them actually, so consider yourself lucky that you were able to get a hold of anybody.
