  1. I was hired as a wound care program manager for a hospital. Part of this will be to open an outpatient wound care center. I've been told that it's going to just be me in the clinic to start, so no actual doctor on site. Is this even possible? I live in Texas and have been trying to get answers on this but am not having any luck. Any information I could get would be great. I've tried talking to my boss (ACNO) about how it's going to work, but she is new to starting a clinic also, so she doesn't have a lot of answers. Please help!
  2. Wow I had my SECOND exam today, and we've already had our pharmacological math test as well. We have our third test and our clinical readiness exam next week. It has been test after test for us!!
  3. I'm attending Grayson County College (started yesterday)!! I can't remember my GPA, something like 3.28 and my Evolve test score was 89.5%. Good luck everyone!!
  4. That's awesome! Way to go on the weight loss! I just started nursing school and am working on losing weight. I've heard people put on weight during school so I'm trying to stop that from happening.
  5. First day of school was good. It was a long day of lecture (8-3) mostly going over the syllabus and handbook. I'm ready to get into the nursing stuff! I find out Wednesday where I'll be doing clinicals, which I'm excited to find out where I'll be going. I feel a lot less anxious today then I did yesterday! Excited to learn as much as I can about nursing!
  6. That's a cool bag! I haven't started clinicals yet but if I have to carry a lot I'll be looking into getting one of these bags!
  7. Thanks for all the responses! Hope everyone has a great first day, whenever it is!
  8. I've been trying to do a whole bunch of mindless stuff that I enjoy. Trying to relax and enjoy the time before school starts.
  9. I've been really anxious today about school starting tomorrow. This is my first semester in nursing school and I think I'm psyching myself out. I keep telling myself that I can do it, but I still can't shake this anxious feeling. I think it is fear of the unknown, not being sure what is going to happen. I've been told so many times that nursing school is nothing like the pre-req's I had to take and I can't decide if I'm excited about that or if that makes it even more scarier! I hope I feel better after this week is over and the routine gets more normal. I just needed to get this out! I'm excited and scared all in one!!!
  10. I got mine yesterday and I'm getting excited too, but also a little nervous! I know I can do it, but it's unlike anything I've ever done before and I have no idea what to expect! Good luck to everyone!
  11. 1. WHEN IS YOUR START DATE? 8/22/11 2. WHAT STATE ARE YOU IN? TX 3 PROGRAM (lpn, adn, bsn)? ADN 4 WHAT IS THE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU ARE HOLDING ONTO RIGHT NOW? The competition is over, now's the time to work together because you're all in this together! 5. WHO IS YOUR GREATEST MOTIVATION TO COMPLETE NURSING SCHOOL? My niece, who had a brain tumor in 2009 and is still recovering from the surgery to remove it. I want to be able to help kids like her!
  12. We were told to get white top/pants and royal blue top/pants. We have to wear all white or all blue, no mixing, and the color we have to wear is determined by where we are doing our clinicals. We were given the option of three brands (Cherokee, Dickies, or Radiance), but only certain styles. We were even told that if we need to wear shirts underneath they needed to be either Fruit of the Loom or Hanes white t-shirts, or long sleeve t-shirts. We also have to wear solid white shoes.
  13. I got some Dickies scrubs and they are really comfortable. I wear a 2X and thought I would look really bad in scrubs, but these are cut nice for a full figured woman.
  14. I will be starting on the 22nd! I can't wait to start this journey! I know it's going to be tough, but I'm ready for it! Good luck to everyone!!!
