  1. Hi everyone. I also plan for applying for the Spring 2021 semester. But since it is a newer program just wanted to know how are people liking the program so far?
  2. Here at the hospital. Worked my shift. Got a bed. Sleeping here. In the am we are prepared for anything.
  3. Yes. In acutes for bedside patients we have 1:1 and in the unit it's 1:2. We don't even have techs. On a bust day depending on census we may have up to 4 shifts. But usually it's about 2 shifts per nurse. Btw I'm in New Jersey. Ratios may vary from state to state.
  4. In our facility it is mainly an infection control issue. Most of our LTC pts are diapered. And it is rarely a problem. A few times we had the patients family come clean the patient. But we do not have the supplies on the unit because it put the other patients at risk for infection. So it is more involved than you think. It is not just lazy Staff or whatever. LTC is where the patients live and reside. Of course the expectations are higher.
  5. From your previous post I see you work within the SBHCS. You should try another facility. In system transfers have to much easier than when you were first starting out Plus you have a very valid reason for wanting more stability. Good luck. Thinks will work out and Congrats on the baby!! Yay
  6. Fresenius hire new grads. Go in the facility ask for the clinic manager and hand him/her your app and pray for the best. Lol! Good luck to you
  7. Go to the Blue Area or the allied health/nursing building. You will get better information from there.
  8. I did micro separately. But you know yourself better than anyone. Nursing 108 and 233 are really challenging and they are both about 9 credits so that gives you an idea of how much time you need to spend on it. Good luck and CONGRATS!
  9. Be patient guys. ECC is SLOW. Very slow. Lol
  10. If you want to be a nurse go for. Anytime you want to start there will be 100 reasons not to. I started school when my son was 8 weeks and my daughter was 9. I made it and the kids are fine. Let go of the excuses and find a way if nursing is what you truly want. Doula is a great option too but it is a very specific job. If down the line you decide you want to branch out it maybe a little harder. Good Luck. You can do it!!
  11. I'm thankful that this holiday season I am employed as a Professional Nurse. And as a new grad I happy 3 options for employment in this economy. Feeling very blessed. And thank goodness I have a dishwasher and washer/dryer. Makes life much easier. ;-)
  12. If you are currently in a Nursing program and finished your first semester of Clinicals you do not have to take a CNA course. Visit NJ department of Health and Senior Service website there is a link where you can fill out an app to become a license CNA. Don't waste your money and time for something you already learned in Nursing school. Good Luck
  13. Good Luck to all of you guys! The NET is not that bad. Just basic info. Most ppl find the read hard because it is timed. I never got a copy of my NET back the just mailed me a letter that I passed and they went from there. Just remember to stay up on the ECC faculty because it is easy to get lost in the plies of people. Again good luck future RN's
  14. Not to further Hi-Jack-But Holy Cow we had 1 care plan a week and literally need naps after clinical. Lol Hope you find Nursing better now.
  15. Hey Guys! I am a former student of ECC. I graduated May 2011-RN Day Program and FYI there is no waiting list. Entry is based on grades and entrance exam score. If you pass and have the appropriate gpa I believe 2.5 overall and 3.0 in your sciences. The program is challenge, but doable. Don't believe rumors you'll hear a lot of them. If you have any questions go directly to the Nursing Department and get your info from there. Good Luck!1 PM me if you want anymore info
  16. I was in the same boat as you are now. But honestly going to HR makes a huge difference. To find a job as a new grad you have to be aggressive. Network, make calls, and go into HR offices. Applying online may work some times, but as you will read here and from my personal experience in person or making a contact is 10x better. Also network with some of your former classmates they may have a lead or 2 for you. Good luck. I got a job 2 months after passing the NCLEX and I filled out countless applications and receive MANY rejections. A job will come. Be patient and persistent.
  17. I'm going to chronic out patient I believe. R u working for FmC in a hospital?
  18. For graduation I got an ipod touch! yeah! But with my RN pay I am purchasing a brand new top of the line bed and mattress. Sleep is important to me
  19. Thanks for the suggestion. I did send an email to the agency inquiring about a possible referral. They family is trying it's best I must admit. It is definitely not a neglect issue more of old apartment and outside factors. Hope I didn't over step my boundaries.
  20. Thanks for the reponses. I am so worried about offending the family. They are not filthy people by any means but the apartment is just infested. I will ask my NM for a for some type of social worker intervention. Even though it really bothers me, I think it is even more of a health hazard to my patient. Roaches have even crawled on this bed. I will relay the info to the agency because this is a new case for us anyway. I will try to use as much tact as possible. Thanks for al the advice!!
  21. Hi All, Not sure if this is considered private duty or HH, but I am a new grad doing pediatric home care. I actually like the job so far. Low stress. Nice family. Sweet patient......BUT I work the night shift and the house is ridden with roaches and mice. I literally hear the mice all night and one mouse actually scurried around in my patients room. My patient has a hx of asthma and I know this rodents can contribute to exacerbation of symptoms. I do not feel comfortable. Again the family is sweet. Mom has 2 special needs children it is an older apartment and I know that can't really have an exterminator b/c of the fumes or poison b/c of the children. Any advice? What are your experiences in dealing with this? Should I tell the agency? I need a little advice. Thanks. Hope everyone is having a good week.
  22. 10/hr as an RN with experience. That's bananas.
  23. Ok I missed that up. Lol
