Just curious, I am intending to post my own research survey here soon. Before I go through the process they require to post, was it worth it? Did you get any responses? I will have to file an IRB amendment to post here so I want to be sure it's worth it.

Hi, current CRN here. I do a balance between the bedside and administrative. At our site we do as much for the PI/Sub-I as the protocol will allow. I administer meds, do physical assessments, consent the subjects, etc. We have research associates (non-RNs) that assist with the administrative part. We still do screening, management, coordination, etc. It really just depends on your state's laws on what a CRN can do and what your institution is set up to do. We require a BSN with 2 years of (preferred) acute care experience. This is to ensure our clinical skills are well developed. I am never bored. I am currently managing 9 studies as a lead and I'm backup on many other studies. CRNs, if you didn't know, IACRN (International Association of Clinical Research Nurses) offers a certification for nurses specifically. It's a great way to network around the world, too.

I have been accepted to the BSN-DNP program. I plan to get the AGACNP. Does anyone know if it is feasible to go full time while working full time? Someone told me it was, but someone also told me the online program has more work that must be done. I have a lot of contacts so I'm not worried about setting up preceptors. Any thoughts?

I had almost full points and got in right away. Don't be discouraged if you only get an alternate place, there is still a really good chance you will get in as an alternate.

I am curious about DNPs in the OR as well. I have read that DNPs are utilized in the OR as Surgical Assists as well. I would like to hear more about this.

Second semester here. First semester I managed As in all my classes and thought I had it figured out how to study and reason and work hard. NOPE! Second semester I am just a few points above pass and I don't know what to do! I also missed a clinical (I was sick) and now I'm stressing about that. My next test is tomorrow and I'm trying the study method of the most successful student in the class. We'll see how it goes.

When my husband graduated from Infantry training, the general who spoke at the ceremony said this: "This is the life you chose." He reminded them that they would all deploy within a year, and would many times wonder why they had to work so hard and suffer so much and be away from their families. He wasn't wrong. But my husband and I would remind each other of that phrase and move past the complaints. After all, we'd chosen it. This has helped me so many times. Whatever happens, I have a choice about the outcome. When I wonder why my job is going crappy or why school is so hard...I just remind myself that I am responsible for it, not someone else. And I am responsible for doing something about it.

The scariest thing about these tests is that you cannot go back and change an answer. You can only move forward. I made a 91% which is a B. I was relieved. I like the format of the tests. It is set up just like the NCLEXRN.

Just took my first nursing exam. Waiting to find out the results. I know I got one wrong because of a typo...so maybe they will throw that one out. So scared right now to find out if I did badly...>92% is an A. >84% is a B and so on. I just have this overwhelming feeling of stupidity.

The manager will not rush to hire someone else as long as you are so available to cover the shift. Start saying no, and he will have to start looking for replacements. Get your nursing degree. You have worked way too hard to stop now. There are literally thousands of different ways you can use your nursing degree, not just in a hospital environment. It will be so worth it!

I am looking for information on OSU okmulgee's nursing program. I will be starting the nursing program 01.2013 and I would like information on the class schedule, the teachers, and the clinicals. (mostly the schedule and clinicals). Any info would be appreciated!

I have dissected many human cadavers, my old job before nursing school was to recover bones/tissues/organs for donation. I have no problem doing those because they served a purpose and was giving a gift to another person. I love cats though and I don't want to do the dissections. Having dissected so many humans, I am hoping they will allow me to skip those labs. I hate seeing people being so childish about this. Want to make jokes about other people not wanting to dissect cats? not the thread for you. Respect should be shown not only to the human and animal cadavers, but also to your fellow students.
