Hutchinson Community College (HutchCC) - LPN to RN
My score wasn’t very high I believe it was like a 72, or somewhere in the low 70s. I know one classmate scored barely at the cutoff, and I have heard not sure if it’s true but that they select applications at random as long as you meet minimum TEAS scores, it’s not like hutch where it’s from highest to lowest. I’ll be done in two weeks and it was amazing, I’m not sure why I didn’t do it earlier!

Hutchinson Community College (HutchCC) - LPN to RN
My score I think was maybe 30? It wasn’t very high because of the Kaplan exam, I took it very last minute and didn’t have enough time to retake so I just went for it! I am getting everything ready as if I’m going to fairmont state though, I’ve already started getting forms and paperwork needed that they started requesting so I’m glad I had a backup!

Hutchinson Community College (HutchCC) - LPN to RN
I also applied to Hutchinson but don’t feel very hopeful. And after reading above that so many people applied this year I highly doubt I’ll be accepted! But I also applied to fairmont state university based in West Virginia and I was accepted there to start in January as well. So I’m moving forward getting everything ready to start there because my chances of getting into Hutchinson seem slim LOL

Accepted!!
You took your sciences with Nmjc?? If you did how were they? I’m planning on applying this Summer but it already seems pretty competitive, what are you doing about studying for the Kaplan? I think that’s my biggest worry!! Trying to score high on that!

Accepted!!
ThomasP, what was it like through NMJC? it looks the most affordable. Was everything completely online? Or labs done at home?
-
Accepted!!
Thanks for the recommendations. I'm just finishing my Micro from Portage Learning through Geneva College but they told me they won't accept any courses through them. I'm pretty bummed knowing I'll have to retake it so I wanted to find somewhere else where I know they've previously accepted it before.

Accepted!!
Has anyone taken a Microbiology course somewhere else that has transferred to Hutchinsin? I know they said they won't allow it to be taken online through them, but wondering if anyone else has had luck with transferring theres in from an online program.

ECC Elgin Community College requirements
Hello, I know it's been a couple of years! But could anyone give me any current info on the program? Or what I would really love to know is how long it took you guys to get accepted? I would have to retake all sciences because it has been more gab a long time but I have all the other courses except those. I'm just curious how competitive it is especially if your not from the Elgin area. Thanks!

LPN Private Schools?
If anybody here is still loooking around I would really reccomend j Renee. They are located in elgin now right off I90 and the building is brand new and Soo nice. Plus the school also has financial aid now and it cut down my tuition in half. I know ambria has fin. Audi but their tuition is a lot more expensive. Soo I just thought I'd let anyone looking knows! O just git in the program and start tomorrow I'm so looking forward to it!

Has anyone heard of this school?
I just started jrenee with some prereq classes, so far so good, I will admit they need to work on the administration side a bit more as far as scheduling classes to begin when scheduled and saying one thing but not being true, I have a classmate who was told its fine if she started the Lpn program without being a cna because her test date would be 2 weeks after the start of the Lpn program but when the teacher heard that she flipped saying that's impossible blah blah, well hey its not the girls fault blame the office ppl for letting her know that, all in all I do believe its a good school and you do learn because I'm learning a lot better at these pre reqs than in my cc, here I justearn the necessary information.not the overload of unnecessary info. I was reccimended by two nurses and im glad I cane here I was literally going to sign up for ambria but I had a bad feeling about it just meeting the owner he sounded too good to be true Plus he we.t around what tuition would be when I asked he's like Ohh roughly 20 something thousand, okay..and after the session a lady told me its going to be with everything, close to 32k, Wat! Insane, well to everyone out the j Renee is moving to a new building in Elgin, and just got approved for fin. Aid. So look out ambria,

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Hi, just wanted to let u knoo I started with j Renee. And wow its been a little unorganized, I signed up for two prerequisites that were to start in June, point if the story they just started like this week. They rescheduled my classes like 4 times, I mean I really can't say its a huge problem for me because as long as I still have time to get into the Lpn program next month I'm good! But it was a tad frustrating dealing with my child's daycare...grr. but so far so good the math class looks super doable pheww and anatomy is what I expect. The teachers are all so friendly abs they're really understanding. I can't wait to finish these and begin the program! Plus the payment due dates worked out fine becausevthey changed the dates I'm not required to pay wen I was and they really don't seem to be on my back about it which I like already. The students in my class were there for the cna but I already am one, but they told me thats why the classes were delayed becaust they were finishing up their cna stuff and they had the same instructor, but they really like the school and have told me that they've had great experiences so far. So all in all I am totally looking forward to it, right now I'm glad I listened to the nurse I know and chose this school

Does anyone attend Career Training Solutions in Fredericksburg?
I am moving very soon to the area and I was pursuing my LPN program elsewhere, but now that I have been looking at other LPN Programs in Virginia Ive realized that the price differences are crazy, where im frm (illinois) the average lpn progra is anywhere from 20k-32k, and in virginia i have found some for as low as 9k thats crazy, but as far as quality i would hope they are just as great. I talked to an admissions person from Career training slutions and it sounded promising, but i didnt find it in the current nclex pass rates, and it is ot accredited? I was also interested in Standard Healthcare Inc because of their 100% pass rate, but I saw mixed reviews, i kno cts offers finacial aid, so did it help alotwith tuition? and Would anyone reccomend either from the two? Thanksss

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Ohhh i see, yeah 6000 isnt bad considering i didnt go the full 4 years! well you should call up northwestern institute and j renee and ask if they know how their progresss is going with getting financial aid, I know both admissions ladys told me they were waiting to hear from the government about it and they both said they were hoping to hear something within the next weeks/month(s). I was thinking of contacting northwestern institiute again and asking if I could possibly get a tour because when I went in to speak to someone I was literally out in 15 mins, the lady really rushed me through, welll, maybe then I can ask them how their financial aid progress is going! I mean I would love to go sumwhere with help also, So at leaset j renee is trying and so is Northwestern, I mean at j renee the lady told me they had already recieved their school code but it was not activated because they were only waiting on the final approval so i think thats a good thing? And with northwestern the lady did tell me they were hoping by this summer for sure to have financial aid.

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Yes they were, I mean when I first googled americare they're on ripoffreport.com but when I went to the infosession the president said not to believe that and that they were lies, so hmm sketchyv that he even mentioned it! Lol and I guess students got angry with the way things were so they tried sueing them, idk if anything ever came out of it or nottt but that's just what I heard! I didn't kno ambria was that unfair until that person who didn't reccomend it told me evrything from when she was a student there. So I honestly don't know I'm half and half like its a good school then I wonder if its just a rip off! Yeah well have u consideered that wia grant? Or loans? Because honestly I chose sxu when I was younger cuz they offered me the most fin. Aid. But now I have loans like crazy so either way I'm still going to be paying back over 6000 when I'm finished! And that's to sxu not even j renee. Hopefully ill be able to not pay much at j renee because I have a lot of savings, and if ican get a wia grant if not then idk I gotta work hard to pay it bak lol but yeah keep that in mind about ambria I really thought it was the best but maybe its not so great in actuality

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Yeah I like that ambria has fin. Aid but I think w/out it I can be able to do I also. And its true because a few nurses told me they went to ambria and they liked it so I'm sure it can be a good school I was just told that its too money hungry and not at all organized the way things should be and how there are a lot of things that change and I also heard there's !!A LOT of drama there, soo no thanks lol plus the rumor about them being sued is true, a nurse told me it was going on around the time she was there..so ehh.. lol I think I'm just sticking with j renee right now because I know its good and I got a good vibe from the admissions lady. And the pre reqs are so doable for me to finish so I can begin their lpn program august 8th yay. What other school are you considering??

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Okayy! Well I changed my mind last minute! I will not be attending ambria. Instead I'm going to j'renee!!! I was actually going to keep working on the math pre req but they couldn't even tell me what day the next math class is going to begin, i have children so id like to kno these things in advance to be prepared with letting daycare know!! Anyway a good friend of my sisters friend told me not to go to ambria she didn't want to talk bad about it but she told me some pretty unfair things about the school and basically it wasn't reccomended at all, she started at ambria but then transfered to j renee and really feels like its ten tiems better, so I went in to go talk to them and they were sooo nice! She was able to tell me exact days and when pre reqs and classes begin! And even tho as of right theyy do not have fin aid they are hoping to get it very soon within the next months she said they are still waiting on the gov. Well the place in general didn't give me that greeeat of an impression but that's ok because they are moving to another building in elgin, which makes it awesommee cuz it wudnt be so far from me now! I mean I honestly thought I was going to end up at ambria but after having that chat wiht former students I def think word of mouth counts a great deal when finding a good lpn school, I just didn't like the things that were said about ambria and wud rather go somewhere else that isn't too hyped up and values teaching mor than $.

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Yes! I'm hoping to start in september! That's the goal!! I just need to take their math class that starts soon. So that way hopefully I can start in sept. I'm sooo bad at math though so I'm kinda freaking out! I'm hoping I can pass it and be able to get into the lpn program on time!
-
Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
yes I decided on ambria, only because recently two people who graduated from there really reccomended it to me, so I feel like it can't be too bad. The only thing they did warn me was about being on time because they said instructors are pretty strict there? Well anyway I'm going to take the compass test soon and the teas hopefully this week! I went to st xavier my freshman year of college, I dormed there, and I have friends who are graduating the nursing program in 2012, one of my good friends is graduating and she has no complains I mean they're really known for being a good nursing school. But honestly they're really money hungry and administration there is a little unorginazed also! But good luck if u get into sxu I'm sure its veryy good!

Choosing Good LPN School in/near Chicago?
Oh, yeah those schools are pretty far, and I know driving an hour or more away would not make me happy lol Ambria is really the closest that I like. And I spoke to another nurse at my job (part time @nursing home) and she also graduated from ambria she told me that this was her first job but she felt when she first got there she knew more and a lot than other lpns at the nursing home, so she really reccomended them, she did tell me about j renee and that they offer it there also but ambria is more conveniant, well I think I'm going Monday for the placement test in math and then see when I can start math there! Yay so glad I made my choice!
