  1. No problem! I actually found out a couple weeks ago that I got accepted!
  2. I just found out that I got in!!
  3. I was told I would hear by the end of March but I haven't heard yet and I'm on vaca this week so I'm guessing I won't hear until I get back... How about you??
  4. I had my interview yesterday! I think it went well but who knows! Only 16 spots for the MSN program :/ I will find out at the end of March! Good luck!
  5. I applied for the adult/gero acute care MSN program! Stpollard how did your interview go?
  6. Let me know how your interview goes! I haven't scheduled mine yet.
  7. I applied to the ACNP for 2015... I appled late and they still accepted my application and told me to schedule either a phone or in person interview! I'm so nervous/excited! Any other advice or questions you can think of from your interview would be great! Also since you have been accepted how do you like the program?
  8. I applied for the adult/gero MSN program passed the deadline and found out that I got an interview! I don't know much about their DNP program.. Have you heard?
  9. I ended up applying passed the deadline and I just found out that I got an interview. Have you heard from them?
  10. I am in the same situation. I've worked in the OR for 2 years and actually thought I wanted to be a CRNA since I love the OR, I wanted to further my education but stay in the setting I love. So I transferred to an ICU step-down floor for about 5 months and hated it. I ended up going back to the OR. I'm researched my options now and hoping I can go to APRN school and get a job in surgery. I am definitely keeping my options open at this point. I hope everything works out for you!
  11. I did not apply to UCONN's program because I think I missed the deadline. However I am looking into Quinnipiac. Have you looked/applied to their MSN program?
  12. Thank you for the responses! The requirement for recommendations is this : Two letters of recommendation from persons with authority to evaluate your professional ability.
  13. Hi everyone, I am starting to apply to APRN school and I'm wondering who you think it is best to get reference letters from. I only need two and I have good rapport with the nurse director of surgical services also my manager and my clinical advisor(charge nurse). Who do you think would be best to ask??? Thanks for your help!!
  14. I work on an ICU step down and we do vitals q2 and assessments q4 and we have 3 patients I cant imagine doing all of that on 5!
  15. Army twin, I'm also in your situation, I've worked in the OR with no floor experience until September when I transferred to an ICU step down floor at my hospital. It's terrifying but I'm learning a ton in hopes of getting ICU experience and going to CRNA school. When I met with the ICU nurse manager her advice was a tele floor but definitely not the ED.. I think you will see and learn a lot on a tele floor. Good luck!
  16. Are in the OR in CT? That is where I am!
  17. I've been there since September... I am also still per diem. I needed different experience too but I'm thinking the OR a where I belong. I'm just so stressed!
  18. Recently I left the OR to go to an ICU step down for more experience. I want to go back to school to be a CRNA but I'm starting to think I just want to go back to the OR. I really like working in the OR that's why I want to be a CRNA, I want more responsibility. Lately as my off orientation date is coming up I'm starting to get really stressed and I can't stay asleep nights before I go in. I'm starting to think I want to go back to the OR where I liked to work and maybe my original plan just isn't for me. I know the OR would still have a position for me if I really decided I wanted to go back... Any advice?
  19. I was in the OR for two years and now am on an ICU step down floor in hopes of someday going to the ICU. I question myself everyday if I can make it on this floor! It's definitely hard and I feel like a new grad but the other nurses that I'm starting with feel the same way so it's comforting knowing that I'm not the only one that feels this way! I realize it will take time before I feel comfortable but I wish it would come sooner than later! Lol good luck to you and let us know how it goes!
  20. I was in the same boat as you! I interviewed at 3 ICU's trying to get out of the OR. I didn't get any of the positions but I did get offered a position on a step down unit. The manager of the ICU told me to work on step down for a year and then she would be able to offer me a position. I do feel like this will prepare me better since being in the OR I have no experience with meds. Anyway if you are interviewing in a MICU be prepared to answer why a MICU and not a SICU. (They will assume that since you were in the OR you would rather have surgical patients) Good luck!!! Keep us updated!
  21. I don't have much experience with RNFA's. They aren't used much in New England that I am aware of. Sorry I can't help more with that!
  22. When I oriented to the OR I only got two weeks of scrub training... I could get through a smaller case but definitely couldn't do a big complex case. I didn't like scrubbing at first but now I wish I had more training so I could. I would request to be trained to competently scrub (it ultimately benefits them to have you trained because if they are short scrub tech you could be used) They will usually agree to it!
  23. CTRN'11 replied to CTRN'11's topic in Operating Room
I'm leaving the OR in a month! Do you have to currently be working there to take the test?

I am just looking for some advice... I've worked in the OR for 2 years and I am transferring to a step down unit but staying per diem in the OR. Should I sign up to take the CNOR exam? Or is it not worth it since I'm not there full time? Thanks!
