  1. I am interested in WGU MSN Leadership program and possibly continuing in obtaining a post master's FNP certificate from a different school. Since WGU's grade system is PASS or DID NOT PASS, wouldn't it be difficult in applying to college's for Post Master's FNP Program?
  2. Hello, How is the program thus far? I am considering WGU Leadership concentration.
  3. I am currently planning this route. I am undecided which route to go, though. Leadership and Management vs. AGPC-NP or take the Leadership and Management route and eventually return to school for a post master's grad certificate in AGPC-NP concentration.
  4. I am trying to understand what is the benefit of returning to school and obtain a post master's NP certificate? What can an RN with an MSN-NP benefit from having a post master's grad certificate? Is for another concentration/program? For example, I am planning to apply to grad school, but undecided where to apply for Leadership and Management program or AGPC-NP program. If I do decide to pursue my MSN in the Leadership and Management program, does this mean I can earn to school and obtain a post master's grad certificate in AGPC-NP? Will I be able to practice the same as someone who went straight into the AGPC-NP program? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the advice, Rose_Queen. Would you recommend that I brush up my health assessment skills by reading books?
  6. Hi, I am contemplating in going to grad school to purse NP, however, I feel so out of touch with my clinical skills. I have been an RN for 8 years and went straight into working as OR nurse once I graduated with my Associate's Degree. I returned to school to pursue my BSN and graduated in 2012. I wanted to get some input from NPs and/or NP students to shed some light if what I'm feeling is normal, as far as, not having sharp clinical skills. Any advice will help. Thank you!
  7. I'm sorry you that you feel this way about nursing. I started out as new grad in the operating room. I was lucky enough to have found a job that trained new grads in the OR program. I am now working at an outpatient surgery center that is hospital based. I work M-F from 0645 to 1515, no weekends, no on-calls, and I get holidays off. There are options out there for RNs other than working as a "floor nurse." Unfortunately, starting out working in floor will pave your way to other RN opportunities. Good luck!
  8. I have been contemplating in going back to school and obtain NP concentrating in Geriatrics. I've been in the OR for 7 years. I wish you luck!
  9. The hospital where I work at (So. Cali and a teaching university hospital) requires all reps/vendors to wear red scrubs, which is provided. They are allowed to come in to the OR after the patient has been been intubated, positioned, we have done the time out. They are only to come in once the surgeon is ready for them (such as implants, etc.) The policy is stated when they check in and enter there information. Hope this helps!
  10. Thank you for your advice. Prior to being an RN, I worked as an LVN/LPN at a skilled nursing facility for 5 years. I enjoyed working with the geriatric population, that's why I was considering in returning to school to become an NP. I just don't have as much experiences in diagnostic skills.
  11. I've been an OR nurse since 2008 and work in So Cal at a University hospital. This was my first job after graduating from RN with Associate's Degree. I graduated from ASU with BSN on Dec 2013 and now I am contemplating in returning to school to pursue my MSN, however, I'm unsure which program to get into...Geriatric NP, Clinical Nurse Leadership, or Nurse Educator. Since, I went straight from RN school into a specialty, like the OR, I am ashamed to say that my clinical in bedside nursing is rusty....Just need some advice...any advice will do.... Thanks!
  12. HELLO, I JUST RECENTLY RENEWED MY LICENSE (GOT MY RN LICENSE 2008) VIA INTERNET AND FOUND OUT (FROM MY CHARGE NURSE) THAT MY RENEWAL WAS INCOMPLETE. APPARENTLY, I DID NOT INPUT THE FINGERPRINT SECTION. SINCE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY DOCUMENTS FROM BRN, I WENT AHEAD AND DID A LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTS, PLUS EMAILED THE BOARDS, SINCE TRYING TO SPEAK A LIVE PERSON IS IMPOSSIBLE... HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE AND IF SO, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO CLEAR UP RENEWAL PROCESS? MIND YOU, MY LICENSE EXPIRES END OF THIS MONTH. SO I'M BITING MY NAILS AND CROSSING MY FINGERS HOPING MY LICENSE VERIFICATION STATUS GETS UPDATED BY END OF THIS MONTH, OTHERWISE, I CANNOT WORK.....BOOOOOHOOOO!!! HELP!!! THANK YOU!!!!

I'm puzzled about the correct procedure on how to prep a GYN case.Do I start off by cleaning the perineal area with soap solution and then use a sponge stick with betadine paint and insert in lady partsl vault first?Help!!!
  14. I took my exam this afternoon. I'm 2nd test taker. YIKES! I stopped at 75. I know that 15 of those questions don't count against me, so technically, there's 60 questions that do. So, with the 50% that I've heard to pass, is this true? Does this mean I gotta consistenly get questions right. SO that means i gotta get 30 questions correct?!?! So, nervous! I got 2 math questions, 1 click and drag and at least 6-7 select all that apply. Wish me luck!!!!
  15. Hello all, I take mine this Wed. Oct 3 in California. It's my 2nd time and I more nervous. I didn't over study this time around and yet I feel that my brain is fried and I feel the need to know everything. I know that's impossible. So, I'm keeping in my mind that I know the stuff I need to know and I will do my best in defeating this test. Good to all of you!
