Yale 2015
I have an Associates in Business Administration and a Bachelors in Management Information Systems. I was previously going for my Associates in Nursing for a while but decided it was better for me to just finish up my bachelors. Nursing has never left my heart and I feel as though this could possibly be a second opportunity for me to have a career I am happy to go to every single day of my life and feel accomplished at the end. =)

Yale 2015
Thanks for that Divalicious! That was some good ol' math for ya! But I appreciate that! That definitely makes me feel just a bit better knowing that only about 80 matriculate out of the 120-125 accepted. I hope we all get a chance to meet one another!! =)

UH Manoa GEPN Fall 2015 Applicants
Hello all, I noticed there was not a thread started for the University of Hawaii-Manoa GEPN Fall 2015 applicants so I decided to start one! I just finished up all of the requirements and got all of my documents and information submitted through NursingCAS yesterday...so now the waiting begins. I applied for the APHN program for Fall 2015. I know they admit on a rolling admissions basis now so I'm just anxious, waiting, and nervous about a response. I was told that it will take approximately 4-6 weeks or so to possibly receive a decision. It can't come quick enough for me!!!!! =D Is there anyone else who applied for the GEPN Fall 2015 cohort at UH-Manoa? Wondering who may be joining me in the Fall of 2015!!

Yale 2015
Yes! Finally found the Fall 2015 thread! I applied for the GEPN with a PNP specialty. I have not seen many people with that specialty on this thread as of yet...may be a good thing! :) I am so nervous and impatient for an answer! Time CANNOT go any slower! Ahhhhhhhhh!

What EXACTLY is a care plan?
Thank you for this mikeicurn!! This really helped me out because I'm doing my first care plan now and I constantly got mixed up due to me trying to treat the doctor's diagnosis versus actually coming up with nursing diagnoses to help the patient feel better, leaving treating the actually medical diagnosis to the doctors. Thanks again!!!

Thank you Lord that I failed my first nclex
You have such an amazing story! This was definitely worth the read! Thank you so much for sharing and congrats! I really enjoyed reading it! I daydream and dream all the time about when I finally finish school and that moment when I find out I have passed the NCLEX and I actually start crying myself!! And I know that is whats gonna happen when I really do pass! LOL! I'm such an emotional guy (not afraid to admit it haha). CONGRATS AGAIN!!!

What is the first thing you are going to buy once you are a nurse?
LOL! It's crazy because I think about this question in my head all of the time!! There are two big things I want to buy. My first purchase will be my first home...and maybe a year or so later I want a brand spanking new, off the showroom floor, Chevy Tahoe. Oh, and of course saving at the same time. lol:cheers:

Anatomy & Physiology...I'm NERVOUS!!
Hello everyone!! I'm currently in my 3rd week of Nursing School and taking A&P I. I'm coming from primarily a business track (have my business degree)...never took any type of science post high school nor the appropriate science in high school so I am very new at all of this and the terminology. Okay...nevertheless, I keep hearing negative things from people about A&P. What I keep hearing is that it's extra difficult, make study groups, etc etc etc. It's sort of terrifying me to an extent. I'm retaining a lot of the information so far so that's a good thing and I'm also an independent learner so I learn best by myself. My cousin says that it's just memorizing the human body. Can you guys tell me your opinions of it? I'm currently trying to roll with the "It's what you put into it" and "Everyone has their own opinion of it based on their experiences" mottos. Positive experiences are a +++!! Thanks everyone!!

So glad that TEAS is behind me!
That's awesome MammaNurse2Be!! As of a week ago, I also finally got the TEAS off of my back! I had taken it at the beginning of June and didn't do so well. I didn't do bad but I didn't do good either. I took it 26 days later and my score increased dramatically!! I had the McGraw Hill book, the NLN book, and the TEAS study guide. I used the McGraw Hill book for the first one...didn't do so well but then I used the TEAS study guide for the second test and it definitely helped! I'm so excited for the both of us! We have that test behind us (thank god because it was truly grueling)!! I'll be starting Nursing school this upcoming Fall!!!! :nurse:

Official nursing student fall 2011 stand up!!!
Congratulations to everyone who will be starting Nursing classes in Fall 2011!!! Count me in as well! I just got the news last week Monday! I will be attending Bryant & Stratton College here in Milwaukee and I'm sooooo excited!! I also already have an Associate Degree in Business Administration that I just graduated with last October! I'm pretty sick of sitting behind a desk all day long on the computer and cannot wait to start walking around, taking care of patients, listening to different wisdom and words that people have to pass down, and getting to really know them versus just being their nurse. I'm super excited!! Again, CONGRATS EVERYONE!!! :yeah: :nurse::yeah:

How I Studied for the TEAS
Thanks so much for this post on_eagles_wings!! I really appreciate it! I took the TEAS V on June 2nd and they said that my score was just okay...neither good nor bad. I guess that was a good thing to say. Nevertheless, they wanted me to take it again. After looking at your post and the people who responded, it helped me out tremendously! Everything that you had in your post was right on the money for the topics that you want to study a little more. It was all on the test more than once. I took it again this past Saturday and they told me that I was ACCEPTED this past Monday for the upcoming fall semester!!! Yyaaayyyyyy!! :D :nurse: I'm so so excited and cannot wait to get started and get this journey started! Thank you so much again on_eagles_wings!!!

Bryant & Stratton Nursing Program - WI
Hi Lynn829! I'm actually retaking my TEAS test next week Saturday so I've been working with Bryant & Stratton for a couple of months now. I had the same question as you and they told me that although you will have transfer credits coming in, the program will still last you 20 months. They'll just register you for the classes that you need in that semester. For instance, the first semester. I believe for their Nursing program the first classes are Math, Ana/Psy, Intro to Nursing, Psychology, and English. I will have Psych coming in so that'll be one class down and a lighter schedule. Wish me luck! I'm studying like crazy still so hopefully I will be beginning classes in September!!

Wish me luck...I'm praying to God that I get accepted! This is a new career for me, coming from a Business/IT track, and I'm so excited about everything! Good luck with all of your future career and education endeavors!!! :yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Question: Taking CNA State Board with RN clinicals & no CNA class...is it possible?
I ended up finding out what my state's requirements were...coincidentally right from their Department of Health Services website. Here in Wisconsin, we have to have taken classes that satisfies the Nursing Aide requirements (usually the first clinical) and at least 32 hours of clinical experience. Just thought I'd share my findings in case someone else may have been or are wondering the same thing.

Question: Taking CNA State Board with RN clinicals & no CNA class...is it possible?
Thanks so much! I'm in Wisconsin, but I believe I've heard the same thing before. I mean, it only makes sense though. I'm wondering how I can get more info...I'll probably just search the net a little more. Thanks again MsSantana!!!

Question: Taking CNA State Board with RN clinicals & no CNA class...is it possible?
Hi Everyone! I'm hoping that someone may be able to answer this question for me. If I am currently enrolled in Nursing (RN) courses/clinicals, would I be able to take the CNA State Board exam and obtain my CNA license without enrolling in actual CNA courses? I'm just wondering because I may need to quit my current job soon and do something different because of Nursing courses...something with more flexibility but I don't have the time at the moment to take a CNA class.

Nursing Student & Working....HOW!!???!!
Thank you so much for the kind words canigraduate!! I really appreciate it! I'm glad I joined and made a post about this because it's really been on my mind for a long time now and sorta wanted to get an understanding in my mind before I began classes. What everyone has been saying has been very helpful and mainly just do what I feel is best after experiencing it for myself. To each it's own I guess. =) But I've also been looking into getting scholarships as well because the more money I can, the better. Not only to take care of school, but also an excess check wouldn't be bad either!! =) Good luck to you as well!!!

Nursing Student & Working....HOW!!???!!
Thank you so very much for this advice! I had never thought of any of this that way and I totally understand!! I think this is the main thing that I will focus on...is actually doing it and seeing how it goes for myself. I know me and that's better than any advice. THANKS AGAIN!!!

Nursing Student & Working....HOW!!???!!
Thank you so much for responding to me 2ndyearstudent!!! I really appreciate the advice that you gave!! I never even thought of things in the way that you explained! You said that ------"Whether this person actually made it through or how isn't the point. The point is, "What is the best way to set yourself up for success in nursing school? There are no black and white answers. You basically have to work as much as you can, but no more. Where that level is depends on you, your job, and your program."------I couldn't have said it better myself. You sumed it up so well!! It definitely has me thinking because like you said, everyone isn't the same. I have to examine my own situation and see how I feel and where that takes me. Thanks again 2ndyearstudent!!! VERY VERY much appreciated!!!
