panic attacks at work
I am so sorry that you are going through this. There really is no shame on going on meds for awhile, it might make things much easier to deal with! Talk to your nursing friends too to unwind and try to figure out why you're feeling so anxious. Does it only happen at work?

Inconsiderate Co-workers/Shift Change
At my hospital we tape record our reports so that every nurse leaves and comes in right on time. Only if ***** hits the fan at 0630 or 1830 do we give a verbal report, and then of course someone ends up staying late. Could you suggest this method to your manager if the problem doesn't improve?

Case scenarios during panel interview
They might ask you about prioritization, like give you some case studies and have you figure out which is most pressing etc.

Would you commute an hour to a job you wanted?
I commuted an hour each way for about a year to a job I loved. I didn't mind the actual drive but it killed me knowing how much I was spending on gas. I also live in a town where the road was not pretty in winter (sometimes I would stay at a friends if it was really awful) I recently moved to the town I work in (shocking!) and now my commute is about 5 mins! How glorious!

Electronic cigarettes (E-cigs)
My eyeballs nearly fell out of my head when I saw an elderly patient "smoking" one of these in the hallway a few weeks ago. But I think good on them, it's BETTER than real cigs and hopefully will help them get all the way there.

At what point do you send to the hospital?
That is so unfair to the patient! She obviously had a severe stroke and NO MEDICAL ATTENTION. LTC or not, she still has a right to care medical help. It sounds like you did what you could/should have with the policy you have in place, but your RN should seriously be fired over this.

How many of you are in your 20's?
I started my BSN at 18 years old and was done with a full time awesome job at 22! Go for it!

Cost effective patients
Wow this is so interesting to hear about! I'm in Canada, all this charging patients for each ind. med, treatment, surgery, KLEENEX (really?!) etc is totally unheard of! Kudos to you guys this is a whole other aspect of nursing care you have to be mindful of.

Canadian RN passes the NCLEX RN

Weirdest nursing thing you've done in "real life"?
Lol ErinS.. I once changed a dogs dressing (and applied ointment) on his leg after he had gotten in caught in a bear trap

Fun things for kids in pediatric clinical?
I work on a small pediatric/medical floor and have been there for almost 2 yrs. We use stickers all the time after a patient has had a painful procedure/IV start or takes their medicine well. Another thing we use are bubbles..distracting and fun! You could take in some appropriate books and read with them if you have some down time. Letting them play with medical equipment (age appropriate of course) and use them on their own stuffed animals or dolls (or listen to their own hearts or their parents) is good too and might even help decrease their fear of us scary nurses. When I have kids that are on isolation and I have to wear a mask i sometimes draw a smiley face on it to look less scary haha. Good luck peds is the BEST!
