  1. I head that the SATA questions were a bit "easier" on the actual NCLEX than on practice questions. What is your opinion on that??
  2. This is a great idea! I graduated with my ADN in December 2012. I just finished the class/lecture portion of my ICU internship today! I start on the floor with my preceptor this weekend. I'm in an Intermediate ICU (ratio is 3:1). I'm very nervous but excited! Still trying to focus on my new job and my NCLEX! I plan on ordering the Kathy White Critical Care little notebook soon. These other resources sound great too.
  3. Does the NCLEX really look at how long you spent on a question? I'm a little obsessive and spend a good amount of time (not excessive haha) reading each quesion and answer choice. Will that hurt me?
  4. I applied to all of the ICU positions. I just keep getting emails that my application is being reviewed and sent. Hopefully we will hear something soon..
  5. It was under the supervision of the staff RN her patient had. I think the nurse asked her if she wanted to do it and she didn't deny it like she should have.. I think she will deny it too..
  6. A lot of girls wear leggings underneath their jeans and their scrubs. Our professors like to keep it freezing in class!! Some students bring blankets too haha. Good luck staying warm!
  7. a fellow student in my clinical group admitted to me and several others that she gave medication through an iv push with her nurse. this doesn't sound like an issue, but we are semester one students. we have yet to cover iv fluids (that's next week) and iv medications (that's next semester). all we are able to do regarding medications at this level is give po and injections. usually we have a lecture, practice it in lab then perform it with our instructor before we can do it with our nurses. it seems to me that she ignored the rules and did something she shouldn't have done. part of me really wants to tell my instructor because what the student did unsafe and wrong. but the other part me wants to just forget about it. what would you do??
  8. Fundamentals Success by Vitale is a really good book. Before you answer a question..make sure you understand what it is asking. I underline the main question and circle important words (ie: first, best). Take your time. I have to read each question atleast 3 times. Nursing questions can be tricky..you have to make sure you know what it's asking!! Good luck! And try talking to your professors..they usually give great advice.
  9. @ carolmaccas66 - haha I agree and I'm only a student!
  10. I'm a student and the floor we are on now loves the students haha. We will bathe and change the sheets for the CNA's and the RNs. If we have "nothing to do", theres always a bed that needs to be changed!
  11. I like this thread haha. I'll keep an eye out for random things in my textbooks :)
