  1. Gheez, I need to read this entire thread but I don't understand the anger. From the OP she is only talking about BITTER nurses. I think all bitter people need to leave the field as well (any field where customers are your target and you don't treat them right), I dont mean older, just the bitter ones. Now let me go read this thread...
  2. I would suggest speaking with an advisor. Good luck!
  3. This is the scariest thread ever. I am starting the night shift in a couple weeks and I am absolutely spooked right now.
  4. I wouldn't say I am sensitive and I am not bubbly either but I am always respectful and nice and I have a really hard time understanding when co workers are disrespectful towards me and/or family members. People really need to learn to check their emotions at the door and not bring that into their work environment. JMO
  5. I am still finishing my prereqs but good luck! I hope you get your acceptance soon.
  6. I would make sure I know the policy and then go to HR and let them know the issue.
  7. Yes, I did. I wanted to get the experience of being around nurses asap so I quit and decided to be a Unit Secretary while finishing my prereqs. Apparently the floor I work on is the most miserable floor in the whole hospital. You can clearly see they hate their jobs and for a split second I regretted my decision. I started talking to nurses in other areas and feel better but my first day was horrible. Everyone on my floor was rude and miserable, well almost everyone. I hate the job I have now, but I am sticking it out so that when I do finish school I can network my way into a department that actually has decent people.
  8. My thoughts exactly. Smh
  9. If you are questioning whether or not its okay to be a nurse as a AA, you don't need to be a nurse. There are racist people in every profession, deal with it. I am black btw. So what if everyone on here was like no it's not okay to be a nurse as a AA, was he going to find something else to do. Smh
  10. Wow he is overreacting for real, especially since you said you two were cool. Don't kiss his a$$, you apologized now he needs to be an adult and get over it.
  11. I'm not a nurse yet but I have to say hang in there. :)
  12. I can understand that but according to the original post they didn't cross any lines so some of the responses were a lil harsh IMO.
  13. I am just getting out of HR and getting into nursing and have dealt with women like this before. Kill them with kindness while looking for another job.
  14. Damn some harsh responses lol. If she if interested she knows where u work and will come see you when she is better.
  15. This thread is so sad. I just got a job as a Unit Sec on a Med/Surg floor and I am hoping that I will be exempt from having to see any of this at least until I finish school.
  16. :yeah:Congrats...sure sounds like it to me
  17. Well, it would depend on how she acted the first two times... did she seem bothered that you pulled out twice? If you want to apply again and you are sure you will want this job I would call her and get a feel on if she would consider you.
  18. There are people like that everywhere though. I work in HR and its the same way. I wouldn't give up on my dream because of it.
  19. Aww don't quit. Finish and get the BSN and maybe you can still apply for other jobs at the hospital to get your foot in the door? Like a unit secretary or something to network your way in. I am applying like crazy for those kinds of jobs now so that when I finish school hopefully they will love me already and give me a shot. Life is too short to settle and not go for what is yours!
  20. Are you leaving for those same two reasons?
  21. sorry that your dad is sick. i read through the thread but might have missed it, but is there any way you can have your dad transferred to a hospital in your area or your hospital (if you work at one)? i can't even imagine but becoming combative with the nurse will not help the situation.
  22. Yea you are prob right, I have been checking the job market and it seems like a ADN would make things really hard. I just don't want to spend the extra money but it looks like I will have a ton of student loans to pay back.
