  1. Congrats! Now time for the real fun! Lol.
  2. It took 7 agonizing weeks, but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here on.
  3. I just got the email!!! Check your emails everyone!
  4. I'm going to be in the NICU!!!!! We will basically be neighbors.
  5. We are all definitely in that same boat. That's what makes it hard to wait once we have the offer and Livescan going on! You'll do great in your interview. Good luck! Don't let our nerves rattle you. Who knows? We'll probably all see each other at the next orientation.
  6. LOL. Don't be nervous. Just be patient, and try not to freak out. Focus on the part that is immediately ahead of you. What department are you interviewing with?
  7. Hopefully we'll be getting started before the new year!
  8. Are you calling HR or pre-employment? HR tells me to call pre-employment. Not that the message is any different, but still. Lol.
  9. I'm taking up my old hobby that got me through the agony of waiting to hear about getting in to nursing school: sewing! Hopefully we'll end up in the same orientation class. I'm so excited to get to work!
  10. Same! It is going to drive me absolutely crazy if it takes an entire month for my live scan to clear. What unit will you be working on?
  11. Yikes! That feels like forever. I only did my live scan two weeks ago, and I'm already antsy waiting for a response. Do you mind if I ask at what hospital?
  12. I'm a new grad nurse, and I got job offers for the relief nurse position from two county facilities. I'm just here twiddling my thumbs now, waiting for my background check to clear before I start in the NICU. There's hope for us all!!!
  13. I got in right after I finished my prerequisites, but not without a bit of drama. LOL. Cerritos is a lottery selection and they don't have a wait list, so it's hard to put an average on the amount of time it takes to get into the program. It really is luck, hope, prayer, or whatever helps us all sleep at night. Good luck to you!!!
  14. Just finished the app and survey. Pretty sure that survey indicates I'm severely neurotic, but whatever. Good luck everyone!
  15. App status still says "in progress," but I haven't heard anything yet.
  16. Nothing over here either I applied for telemetry units. I hope someone hears something soon!
  17. Did you find the dates on the Versant website or the USC website? Because I have been a nervous wreck looking all over for information.
  18. I submitted my app Wednesday. I am excited to be at a point where I can take steps like this, but I am nervous and terrified because who knows what's going to happen next. I also hope we all make it!
  19. This is almost exactly my experience, and I'm starting my second year tomorrow (yay!). The best advice I can give you is (1) be organized and (2) be realistic. I had to take a good hard look at my schedule and use time that was actually available. I found that studying or working up patients was nearly impossible (or took twice as long) while my son was awake. I'm a multitasker to the bone, so I made it a point to take care of "the incidentals" while my son was awake so that once bedtime rolled around I wouldn't have laundry, dishes, grocery shopping and other errands hovering over my head. In this way, everything got done and by the time I laid down for the night I was maxed out enough to fall right to sleep. It was hard because literally every minute seemed accounted for, but it worked out in the end. Time management is your friend!!! Try to build a good network. Having friendly, flexible people willing to help with your son really makes a difference. I had a bit of help last year (where do I put a 3-year-old when I have 5 a.m. clinicals?!?!) and I've spent a lot of my summer recruiting, so the team should be strong this year. LOL. Be creative and give all aspects (family and career) your best shot. I used to sit my son down next to me with a coloring book and crayons and tell him he was "doing homework" just like Mommy. With regard to what you will be learning, every program is different so I can't help you there. What I can say is be prepared to learn. That will happen swiftly from day one. Hope this helps!
  20. Congrats all around! I just finished up my first year in the program at Cerritos. Awesomely awesome school, faculty, instructors, program...everything. Good luck to you all, and see you soon!
  21. I got an acceptance letter in the mail yesterday, but I will be declining. Keep checking your mail!!! Also, I agree with sammiel78. I was rejected then later accepted to every school I applied to. KEEP TRYING!!!
  22. At the very last possible second I was admitted to the ADN program at Cerritos. I am loving every minute.
  23. I haven't received anything from them either, but I'm already in another program. I'll keep an eye out and post back here when/if I hear anything. Good luck!!!
  24. I usually go to allbookstores.com and plug in the ISBN then click "compare prices." Lowest price with best shipping times wins.
  25. If the end results are all the same, why would an online program be your absolute last resort? At this rate, your work schedule is inflexible, the school schedule is inflexible and you're kinda inflexible. Something, or someone, is going to have to bend. I can't presume to know your exact situation, but I believe one thing about nursing students across the board: if you want it bad enough you will find a way to make it work. Hope all goes well!!!
