  1. Fyi, we don't NEED you to help us. We were taking care of our patients just fine before you came along. And with that **** poor attitude you have, id rather you just leave my patients alone
  2. stethoscope, trauma shears, hemostats, silk and plastic tape, penlight.
  3. We used to give rides home, and people took advantage of it. So now we dont. As far as i'm concerned, you knew you were gonna need a ride home and you have had plenty of time to find one. Too bad, so sad...hope you like those chairs out in the waiting room until your ride shows up. Its amazing how those who "absolutely have no friends, family, or anyone to pick them up" magically find a ride when that happens.
  4. I hate when nursing students act like they know everything. News flash...you don't! That's why you are there...to learn!
  5. I took a report call once from EMS that made me just turn around, hang up, and have to go sit down. This old lady called 911 once on a busy Friday night because her cat peed on her leg. She just wanted to get checked out...
  6. I work for a large catholic based hospital system. Prayers are said over the intercom at 0700 and 1900
  7. You sound very angry. The OP isn't making this up actually. I recently read a news article that supports his/her statement.
  8. The funeral home comes to pick up the bodies from my ER, and a couple of us always go in there to help them transfer the body onto thier stretcher. They use the UPMOST respect and are as gentle with the deceased as possible. I certainly would inquire further into thier actions, honestly, I would call the owner and complain.
  9. Once. I was driving down the interstate and watched a woman be ejected from an SUV that had lost control and was flipping. By that time I had slammed on my brakes and jerked my car over to the side of the road. She landed maybe 10 feet from my car. I got out and ran over, she was not breathing, felt no pulse. Obvious head trauma and bilateral open femur fractures. Started CPR with the assistance of an off duty cop that had pulled over also, tried for around 7 minutes before EMS got there (actually got a faint pulse back) and took over. She ended up dying at the hospital from her head trauma
  10. I'm a little confused. You said you were a PCA, why were you handing out pills. That's definantly not in the PCA scope of practice, at least where I live
  11. Real stories of the er is the biggest bunch of crap ever put on tv.
  12. In my ER, nothing on peds patients is hung to gravity, even boluses are put on a pump to maintain strict control of how much goes in.
  13. ER?

I love it:) Couldn't imagine doing anything else!
  14. I am an ER RN, and about 2 weeks ago I had a lady and her 16 year old daughter (who was being seen for a cough. Thats it..a cough) throw open the door to a room where we were coding a 48 year old full arrest and loudly state "WELL SINCE WE CAN NOT GET ANY SERVICE HERE, WE WILL JUST GO TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL!!!! YOU ARE ALL IN HERE WITH THIS PATIENT AND WE HAVE BEEN HERE 45 MINUTES AND THE DOCTOR HAS NOT SEEN MY DAUGHTER". ....didnt go over well with any of the staff in the room.
