  1. Hi Everyone, Can someone explain what the fieldwork hours (how many and what is entailed) are that are required for the MSN program at WGU?
  2. Did you receive any updates from WGU on the FNP program?
  3. Can anyone comment on the clinical practicums and how these are set up-how long does it take to get it set up, does the school help you find them?
  4. What do you have to do for the "fieldwork"?
  5. Can someone tell me what is required in the Fieldwork in the MSN program in education? Do you have to do this at your place of employment or can you reach out into the community to complete the requirement? do you have to work with an MSN for this fieldwork?
  6. I worked at a state juvenile prison about a year after graduating (I did med-surg). Corrections is excellent experience to gain. It was mostly primary care, we had a fulltime MD and part time NP, we held clinic every day, sick call and gave meds in the chow hall. Any case that we couldn't take care of in the health unit, we sent to the ER. Any youth that needed a specialist, we sent them out to one of our contracted providers. Check into youth corrections. I did this many years ago, but I still think about it quite often. Amazing experience. To work in this type of facility, you wouldn't have to have med-surg, but this is always good to have.
  7. So what it the program like? Is there a practicum with a preceptor? Tests?
  8. Do you think the program will help you get into the diabetes ed. field, or are you already in it?
  9. Thanks for the replies. How many pages normally is the QI paper?
  10. Thanks for your reply! What does the fieldwork consist of? Is it a practicum with a preceptor?
  11. Hi When you say a QI project is required for the MSN, are you referring to the Administration or the Education MSN? Thanks.
  12. Hi nightowl How do you like WGU? What does the fieldwork and final project entail? Thanks.
  13. I am curious too about the diabetes nursing program at Capella.
  14. I disagree that the patho and pharm classes at WGU will be accepted by potential NP programs. At least one I applied to said that these types of courses are not rigorous enough to be accepted into a NP program and would need to be repeated at their school.
  15. In the MSN program your manager from your job has to sign off on your WGU course assignments? Can someone clarify this for me, it doesn't make sense.
  16. Hi All I looked at WGUs website and it said the tests for MSN are computer-based and proctored. What does this mean? Do you go to a testing center?
  17. I applied to USI for Fall of 2014 for PMHNP. I think Gonzaga requires several on-campus visits. I also read a post from an MSN student there who thought the high tuition wasn't worth it. Vanderbilt is a more like a hybrid program and quite expensive.. None of the PMHNP online programs provide a preceptor that I have found. You can read a lot of posts on this website about the many online schools out there. Best wishes.
  18. rajan2: Can you tell me how the advanced patho course is structured at CSUDH? proctored exams? papers? How do you like the pharm class? I am also looking for individual courses prior to starting an MSN program. thanks.
  19. Have you found that is was worth it to take it? has it gotten you a job or promotion? Thanks.
  20. Hi All I'd like advice on this exam. Is it worth the time and money to take it? Does it further your career? I already work in QM but only for a year. I'd like to change companies and was wondering if it would be benefical for me to take it. What is the best way to prepare? I don't have years to study as life is short.
  21. Get HEDIS experience, good way to start.
  22. They pay less then United. Why not go for it and open a door to a new career? Quit in a yr. and go somewhere else if you hate it.
  23. Hello, I'm interested in the MSN Dibetes Educator prog with Capella. I would appreciate any info you can give. Do you like the coursework? How about the instructors? Also, what are the requirements for the fieldwork. I read they want 500 hrs? This seems like a lot if a person works full time. Is it more of a clinical rotation? Thanks.
  24. I was curious if you decided to pursue this company for a position and what your experience was? Thanks. I am interested in them as well.
  25. You should apply. I just got hired with no HEDIS experience; hurry, though, HEDIS season is starting very soon.
