  1. Great for you nurse zen!!!!! Glad to hear you passes the test!!! I've been thinking about it lately. Where did you studied from....and how long it took you from application to actually taking the test??? Once gin, congratulations:yeah:
  2. :):)Thankyou for such a great tool!!!, very useful
  3. Just like all of you....guilty as charged. I have been caught countless times admiring people veins, and in more than one occasion actually grabing their arm and feeling them........ I have ran and being the first responder to a couple of k-mart code in aisle 3 or 7..........just to find out that it was a broken ketchup bottle and a defective garden chair..... I also pat myself looking for my pen or my keys......... I had swiped my Id at the ATM so many times................. And needless to say, I also had answered my phone with: thankyou for calling xyz hospital, xyz unit, this is loreta how may I help you????? Yeah........it just go to show that we just don't work as nurses, we ARE nurses Talk about nursing is 24/7 LOL!!!!!!!! :heartbeat:redbeathe:redpinkhe
  4. I must say that i' pretty good with suctioning, phlegm, mucus, wounds, open fractures, toenail fungus, and even eyeball..... Well and I mean as pretty good as you can be.......considering there's nothing gouged about it. I however confess, my kryptonite is vomit...... O god, just the word makes me sick, the idea of it, the sound, the appearance, the smell, it's awful consistency and warmth I'll trade in the eyeballs for the vomiting with any of you any day.........
  5. I'm a psych nurse and work er-psych intake often times...... Some of our patients are frequent fliers, and they ate very well aware of how to workup the system, I had one of them come up with this one: Rn: hey John doe, I haven't seen you in a while. Tell me what brings you in today Patient:oh I'm doing real bad......the voices Rn:what are they telling you? Patient: to go back to school and be a good person.......... Rn: well John doe, and is that bad??? Patient: are you kidding, this is my worst crisis ever, i will rather die than become a good person Yeah!!! That's psych for you, our patients do have their issues..... :D:D:D
  6. Thanks!!!!!! I had researched on the Internet how to apply for a ca license by endorsement......it looks lengthy and complicated, but hey I am very motivated!!!! Thanks once more for your advice Goodluck:)
  7. :)Thankyou CT6687 for the great tip!!!!! I will google it right away. If you know of something else I would really appreciate it.........any advice on getting my CA License????
  8. Just like most of you, I do love my psych job as well!!!!, Before transferring to psych I had worked oncology,med-surge, and er.....I did love all of them in different ways. I am very pleased with my decision to change to psych, and cannot picture myself doing anything else ever............ I do work a teaching hospital, we have four separate psych units and er-psych intake; I've float on several occasions to the different units, but my base unit is adult acute. Our patient populAtion is highly aggressive, but our team is well integrated; we've worked together several years now. I love psych!!!!!!!and am very pleased to see so many of you sharing your experiences!!!!,:redbeathe:heartbeat:redpinkhe
  9. I worked three years oncology unit and now am in psychiatry!!!!!yeah, I know the change seems strange...... I am not currently working or had work the burn unit. However I did rotate acute burn unit during my clinicals, I did a one week rotation as part of my surgical rotation at the trauma center. It was a very tough experience, a true eyeopener!!!!!!! Only five of us got to be in this rotation............ But in retrospect I do believe it should had been mandatory at least for a coup,e of days........ I did bonded in a very deep way with my assigned patients, to be part of such a painful experience (I mean participating during woundcare) makes you closer in a spiritual way. I cannot say that I had fun........but I grew emotionally and spiritually through my experiences with my patients, I am a better nurse today almost ten years later. I hope it helps, although you're interested in current burn unit nurses.!!! I do have a lot of respect for all of you burn Rn's, I know for a fact it takes a very special person!!!!!! Best of luck to all of you:redbeathe
  10. Great, thanks for sharing. I would love a copy of your competencies!!!!!!

  12. :redbeathe:redbeatheGreat info everyone, thanks!!!!! I'm also considering traveling.....have lots of questions. For now just researching, but of course there's nothing like sharing advice with fellow nurses who've been there!!!!,
  13. Most major cities hospitals must may have them, just research according to your area of interest. I'm in southflorida, where the best burn unit is located in Jackson MemorialHospital at the Ryder Trauma Center. I rotated the burn unit as part of my surgical clinicals, they have a burn icu, an acute unit and the longterm and rehab. It remember participating during wound care........it is a very hard specialty, I wish you best of luck!!!! If you're interested in more info, just feel free to ask and I'll try to help you the best I can Best wishes and luck:D
