Have been told LPN BAD idea
I work here in Maryland,at Kaiser Permanente. I'm a Oncology LPN and I'm at 55,000 a year. Been pretty good to me,Yes I'm working on becoming at RN. The Lpn program wasn't a waste for me. It was very helpful. I work Mon-Friday. No weekends or holidays. I can do the non-chemo,Therapeutic Phelbotomys,Port Flushes,Pump Disconnects,IV's. Have learned a lot working here, the RNs truly appreciate having LPNs.

Kaiser Per Diem LVN
Im a LPN at Kaiser here in Oncology Baltimore,Maryland. Kaiser is a great place to work for..Management has put LPNs thru a lot of downsizing because we have CAs(Clinic Assistant) they can do some things that LPNs can do. Its probaby cheaper. Our union is fighting to keep LPNs around at this point. The CAs got a 4 week course at Kaiser and that makes them competent to be compared to a LPN...

New LPN & all jobs seem to want experience. How can I gain experience with no job
My 1st job was with an nursing agency. I didn't have a lot of experience as a LPN but about 20+ experience with being a Medical Assistant. I got in w them and got training thru them did lots of flu clinics at the military bases. Lots of dressing changes, wound vacs, etcs. The agency is called Brightstar... Good luck to you,I hope you find a job soon.

In search of good lpn programs in the DC MD VA area.
I did CHI-Capital Health Institute..it was 12 months. Just glad I got it done and over with. I took my boards in MD. My only problem is they had only a couple of teacher that were american..most of the teachers was African and had very heavy accents..other than that it was a good program.. pass my boards on the 1st try and now working on my RN three years later:)

The instructor I had put out his own nclex-lpn book: nclex review made simple---thousand points of light by Paul Addae...he was my review instructor and had 5 of us in class and we all passed the 1st time. He had a total of 100 students but at least 4-5 of us at a time...may help, good book and to the point of what to expect on the boards...
