Fresno Nurses: Please advise me
Are you relocating to Fresno? Fresno pretty much sucks. Are you wanting to know about specific apt complexes or streets/neighborhoods? In general, the more north you go, the nicer it gets, so you'll find better apts & neighborhoods. St Agnes is on the north side of Fresno, so you should be good on finding a nice place just north of the hospital. Fresno has tons of apartments... I know Foxwood is pretty decent, it's near Fresno St & Herndon, which is down the street from St Agnes. It depends on your standards & how you want to live/how much you want to spend.

Lets Talk Money...
I was just offered an ER position in San Diego & the pay is $33.something. I've heard that this particular hospital pays the best in the area. I don't know the differential for nights, weekends, etc.

I know I am going to get reamed a new one but here goes
You should be clean by the time you have your drug test, IMO.

White Memorial New Grad Program
Indeed.com often posts old job postings for positions that are actually no longer available on the hospital's website. As far as White Memorial's New Grad Program, I'm pretty sure that was originally posted a couple months ago.

RN residency programs not for new grads.
I think some of them accept both new grads & experienced RNs wanting to enter a new specialty. They may not specifically state that on their website, so I would inquire about it. Where do you live?

UCSF New Grad Program
Are you using Mozilla? I had the same problem, then realized it's probably not compatible with this browser. I tried it using Internet Explorer & it worked.

UCSD January 2011 New Grad Program
Ya, after the new year I was contacted by nurse recruitment about submitting my references. They are putting quite a bit of importance on my references... the manager even called me asking me to get a reference from my preceptorship (after giving 5 references from my job, school) because she is "seriously considering my application." So I had to hunt down my preceptor & get them connected with one another. This occurred within the last couple days, so I'm hoping to hear the final decision very soon. What about you? What unit did you interview for?

UCSD Medical Center Interview
My interview went quite well... I think I had a unique experience compared to other units in that it was not panel & I wasn't asked any formal questions. We just talked about what's important, it was more like conversation. So I don't think I can really help ya out because you'll probably have a totally different experience! Good luck tho, let me know how it goes. Since you're in SD, did you notice Sharp Mary Birch has a new grad position posted? Not sure if you're interested (I'm not), but thought I'd gives a heads up to people interested in those areas.

What unit? I had an interview in the ED & am now waiting to hear the final decision.

Cedar... New Grad Program 2011?
nmh586, have you applied before? I don't think the application asked us to pick a specific unit. It was just for the new grad program in general. During my phone interview I was asked my unit of choice, but was told that I would be able to talk to managers from all the other units at the Open House.

UCLA New Grad one year program 2011
So I wanted to let everyone know about my experience. I decided to call the other day to follow up on my application. I told the recruiter that I had heard the ER (my first choice) wasn't able to hire as many new grads as they had intended so I thought maybe that screwed me. Sure enough, the ER had 3 positions that they filled with internal applicants. She also told me that my 2nd & 3rd choice units (Med-Surg/Stepdown & Oncology) were already full. So that's that. So it's good news that they are still making calls, but it really depends on the units you chose if you still have a chance or not.

Are you being "hounded" to pay back student loans-
My 6 mo grace period ended in Nov & I requested to defer my payments as soon as I could. Because some of my loans got sold from company to company while I was in school, I have half my loans at one bank and the rest at another. Luckily, deferring payments for my subsidized loans was easy at both (one of them didn't even request proof of my inability to pay). However, I have a small private loan that I had to take out one summer to support myself that I could not defer. So, Ham It Up, I'm not sure you can defer private loans.

2010-11 San Francisco VA new grad program
I think the job posting said it would be like a month before they contact people.

UCSD January 2011 New Grad Program
My experience is externing in an ER during nursing school. I think the big thing was that I did my senior preceptorship in a Level 1 Trauma Center. I'm also ACLS & PALS certified. I've got lots of pretty stuff on my resume, but I think these matter the most. About the TNCC... I don't know if you're aware, but UCSD's trauma unit is not part of their ER. The trauma unit is on the 2nd fl and associated with the OR & SICU, so trauma nursing is not part of the ER nurse's role (with the exception of minor traumas of course).

UCSD January 2011 New Grad Program
I had my interview in the ED on Wed, it went very well! However, she still has 9 more people to interview so I won't find out the results until after the new year. Like previous posts have stated, it sounds like that each unit hires two new grads each program. Unfortunately, in the ED they had an extern that they gave one of the positions to, so ten of us are vying for the other position. I'm hopeful! RNOptimistic: keep me posted about your interview. Hopefully we'll be together in the program!

I'm from Central Cal. Very thankful that UCLA considers everybody.

UCLA new RN residency program 2010
That suuuucks. ER was my first choice, second choice being Med-Surg/Step-Down.. I'm sure plenty of people listed Med-Surg as their first choice, so it doesn't look good for me.

UCSD October 2010 New Grad Program
Hey nurselindah, I noticed that you applied to the ER for the Oct program. Did you end up applying again this time around? If so, did you hear anything from them?

New Grad Nurse from Fresno Looking For A Job
There are no new grad programs in Fresno. You pretty much have to have an "in" or have externed there to get hired. If you can't relocate I would recommend trying to make some connections. Did you try Kaweah Delta in Visalia?

UCSD January 2011 New Grad Program
Got an email today from the nurse recruiter saying that my application is being forwarded to the manager at the Hillcrest ED. Anyone else have good news?
