Anyone attending Mildred Elley in N.Y.C?
@msb6 Thank you so much for your time. I am doing so much research my head hurts. That's why I'm so disappointed in this program. I thought this was the one. You are right. I have until July to decide. NJ is not an option for me although I wish I could. Lets see what other doors open up. Gotta be patient to make smart moves.

Anyone attending Mildred Elley in N.Y.C?
I just called Manhattan Institute and they said to call back in about a month for the LPN program.

Anyone attending Mildred Elley in N.Y.C?
I tried to find it on facebook but I didn't see it. Aren't all new programs going to be unorganized? I hate being the test dummy but I am hating the community college I go to. I just want to be in a nursing program soon before I lose my motivation. This process is so discouraging. I would like some more info on Manhattan institute though.

Anyone attending Mildred Elley in N.Y.C?
@msb6 I dont have a problem taking the preqreqs. I have a problem with not knowing if I will have a seat in the LPN program after they are done. I agree if we meet the grade requirements, we should get a spot. I dont mind paying the expensive tuition either to bypass waiting lists because at my CC the waiting lists are outrageous. I think Im going to go for it but I would still like to speak with others who are considering this school or have completed the program.

Anyone attending Mildred Elley in N.Y.C?
I am suppose to be starting the program in July. Some of the prereqs are the same for medical assisting and LPN. So it is my understanding that if you meet the required B- (?) grades in your prereqs, you should be able to move on to the LPN program. I already have an associates degree and I'm taking the certification exam soon for medical assisting. I have no intentions of doing the entire medical assisting program again. I'm still so confused. When I applied in August, they told me I scored high enough to enter directly into the LPN program. Now they told me the rules have changed and now you have to start out taking medical assisting classes (prereqs). Why cant you just register as pre-nursing and take the prereqs. Why do you have to be enrolled as a ma first and hope for a LPN spot? I think that is what most people are having a problem understanding. @Faith maybe you can clear some things up for us. I am truly torn but I would like to do my program at Mildred Elley.

A&P 2
@rocket surgery You give me hope. Were your summer sessions 4, 6 or 8 weeks?
-
A&P 2
I am trying to make the same decision. I am taking A&P 1 and English 2 now and am going to take nutrition in the first summer session and I wanted to take A&P2 in the second summer session. I have actually already registered for these summer classes but the problem for me is, the summer sessions are only 4 weeks long. I think A&P2 with lab might be too much to absorb in 4 weeks. Plus I work full time with 3 children and a husband. I go back and forth every day with whether or not to drop A&P2 and wait to take it in the fall for the full 16 weeks. We are all in the same situation, needing to get our pre-reqs done in time to meet the deadlines for applying for nursing programs but I do not want to get anything lower that an A. So undecided

Anyone taking pre req's at Medgar Evers College?
Thank you so much for the options. I know I can do this. Another question.. I'm taking anatomy and physiology I now. Are you saying that they have separate anatomy classes at Medgar from physiology and I can take anatomy II in the first part of the summer and physiology II in the second part? I was thinking about taking micro in the summer but thought it would be a lot to cram into these one month sessions since they have labs as well. Im so confused I will see an adviser before I register but I want to have a plan because I felt so rushed when I saw her before. Thank you so much

Anyone taking pre req's at Medgar Evers College?
Thank you Cookie. I was beginning to think no one ever attended this school. Lol My problem is that I only have science classes left to take. The summer semesters are not full semesters right? (I hope I'm wrong) I want to take classes this summer but don't think that I should take theses science classes in a condensed summer course. I will probably take A&P II in the fall. Which leaves micro and chemistry to be taken only in the summer if I want to take the NLN next spring. That is not going to work. I don't mind taking more than one class but I hear that it is not smart to take 2 science classes plus labs with my full time job. Any suggestions?.....

Is anyone taking pre requisites at Medgar Evers College?
I am currently taking my pre requisites at Medgar Evers College. There is so little information here about this school. I would like to hear from other Medgar students. I am taking A&P I and English 2 right now. I work full time and have 3 children. I still have to take chemistry and A&P II. Then I can apply for the nursing program. I would also like to take and micro before I start the program. Can anyone shed some light on any of these classes and the program. The NLN is only given in spring so I need to have these classes completed by then Thanks in advance.

Starting A&P I in February 2011 via Edukan...
No Im not taking it online. Im attending Medgar Evers College in New York. I am also taking English 2. I purchased Anatomy and Physiology made incredibly easy, anatomy and physiology made incredibly visual, anatomy flashcards and, anatomy and physiology for dummies. I read on this site that these books have helped. We all need A's in A&P so hopefully these will help me.

Just accepted for Spring 2011
I’m so excited. I will be starting a private certificate LPN nursing program in March of 2011. I was also excepted to a 4 year RN University but I don’t think I’m going to go there because I have to take too many prerequisites for the RN program and I’m afraid I will become uninterested in school if I have to do 1 or 2 years of prerequisites before entering the professional phase. I really want to be a nurse and I’m going to do whatever it takes but I would really like to start nursing classes as soon as possible so I think I’m going to choose the private school. I already took the placement test and ran my financial aid. I just have to have official transcripts submitted for transfer credit review. Just want to say YAY for being excepted and congrats to all of the other Spring nursing students as well. Soon we will be able to post about our nursing school experiences. I hope I’m making the right choice by choosing a private school over a university. I know there is no right path. There are many different paths to get to the end result (which is RN for me). But I would like to be able to work as a nurse in 2 years instead of 4. I sure hope I’m making the right choice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Congrats and Good luck to all!!

ipads/e-readers
Hello Im just wondering if anyone here uses laptops, e-readers, iphones, ipads or any other electronic devices for nursing school? If so which ones do you find most helpful and convenient? Are your text books available online? Im currently waiting for the blackberry playbook to come out (hopefully in March)
