  1. Im a US citizen and I think that if its impossible for citizens to get a job it must be even harder for non us citizens. Let me re-phrase. Its very hard for new graduates to get a job right now. If your relative has tons of experience in nursing it may not be as hard. Times are tough though.
  2. I don't want to discourage you but It sucks to graduate from school and fill out application after application and not even get a call back.
  3. It is absolutely amazing. I received the scholarship and it is one of the best decisions I have made in my entire life. Baptist is one of the best companies in the country. All of the Baptist health facilities deliver high quality care to patients. Resources are readily available. I would know because I have been in other hospitals and Baptist is definitely on top. Right now many new grads cannot find jobs. I feel so fortunate and blessed to have a job right out of school who is giving thorough training for 4 months to prepare me to be an efficient and safe nurse. Go for it! You wont regret it.
  4. I graduated in May and took boards Mid June. Immediately after I got my license number I started sending applications everywhere both palm beach county and dade county. Not even one call back. I received one email from a home health company that hires new grads but the pay is 16/hr. No one is hiring new grads. I was only looking to supplement my income part time because I already have a job I will be starting in August thru the organization that provided me a scholarship and guaranteed to give us jobs. I am so fortunate and forever grateful that I applied and received the scholarship because they are only giving jobs to those they sponsored. I suggest student nurses try to get a job during nursing school in a hospital as a tech or CNA to better their chances of finding a job after nursing school. Good Luck!
  5. Hi guys, I got a question in an interview for med/surg position that totally blew me off. The question was "how would you respond to a patient that tells you that a night nurse told him that we are dangerously under staff? how do you reply to that? Thanks
  6. I think everyone feels this way after the test. I felt absolutely horrrible. I thought there was no way I could have past that test. I did the pearson trick afterwards and I am going to be honest it did give me some relief. I stopped at 75 questions and more than half of my test was SATA. Which really made me feel even more insecure. I didnt do Kaplan or any review which didn't help my anxiety either. Go ahead and try to re-register. Trust me you will feel better. Someone I know had 265 questions and passed and someone i know had 75 and failed. Good luck and stay positive!
  7. Hi, I bought Kaplan strategy and review 2011-2012 book. I read the first few chapters which teaches you how to answer questions. The book is about $20. I also download nclex 4000 by lippincott from an online website. This software was good because it had alternate type questions and rationales. I did 350 of them. Overall I did about 600 practice questions. I did not pay for a review because I couldn't afford it. However through out nursing school I used Saunders and always did practice questions before my exams which I think helped me overall. Good luck!
  8. I have a question. When they mail you your official results does it say your score. Im curious to know.
  9. Reading this post makes me laugh when I look back. I just took my nclex and about half of my test was select all that apply if not more than half. I was freaking out! I passed but it was truly traumatizing. I used the true or false method for answering these questions.
  10. well u know about how many you had when you have more sata THEN standards
  11. I had about 40 SATA questions. I thought there was no way but I passed. Stay positive!
  12. Hi guys, I took my test on two days ago and I left feeling like I failed. I had no confidence what so ever. My test shut off at 75 and more than have of my test was select all that apply, I was freaking out . It took me 2 hrs because I was so unsure of the questions that I took forever. As soon as I got home I did the pearson trick and got the good pop up. I was still not too comfortable. I check today and I passed. I barely prepared for the test. Try to cram a few days before and was very anxious but thank god I passed. I advise people to really study so u don't feel so insecure. Good luck!
  13. I was accepted in Jan 2009. I applied the very last day to apply which was oct 1 2008 and interviewed on November 5th. I received the acceptance letter a few weeks later. I hear that now they have a lot more applicants now so its probably why its taking a while. But they are not conducting interviews anymore. I wish you the best! Good luck!
  14. Hi everyone, I am to obtain my BSN in nursing soon and I am interested in teaching. I been doing some research because I was thinking to about getting a MSN in nursing education. I looked online at faculty nursing jobs and they all want at least 5 years of experience and a variety of experience from different areas. Many want a Phd in nursing. Should I not pursue an MSN in education? Realistically as a new grad with no experience I will not be able to work as a teacher for many years to come. What would be the best thing to do? just work and get experience and later on purse a MSN or now? Thank you,
  15. the program is great! can wait to be done. are u in the nova program? usually they send you a package with instructions on how to start webstar and sharklink. You must first be entered in the system.
