Make sure you fill out FAFSA, look at your state's website and see if there are any separate scholarship/financial aid applications there. My school also has its own general financial aid application that has multiple scholarships tied in with that so definitely contact your guidance counselor and develop a good relationship with them. I remember the guidance counselors back in my community college that just handed me a piece of paper with a bunch of links on it. Not very helpful, but try to go through all of them and see what you can get. If you have a good relationship with them, they can tell you if any new grants or scholarships come up that can be suited for you. =)

You can do it in 1-1.5 years if you take classes in the summer and winter sessions in addition to fall and spring. I could have easily done it in 1 year at my community college.

I'm looking into nursing informatics too. You'd have to: - Finish most of nursing prerequisite classes. - Take the TEAS test - Apply for BSN programs - Get accepted - 4 years of nursing school - Pass NCLEX - Apply for a nursing informatics program in Graduate school, its about 40 credits Good luck!

Omg. I went to the most incompetent community college ever. I had the same thing done with my transcripts and I got screwed over because of them. Ever since then, I either pick them up personally, or have them send my transcript to my house so I can send it all together with my application stuff as a huge packet. I've talked to a lot of recruiters and they actually prefer to have everything put together anyways. (Even for scholarship applications)

Easiest nursing job are the ones who are in those private practices who make appointments and go in to take your vital signs and then leave. Seriously. Maybe sometimes they'd give you your vaccine after the doctor tells them to. How come no one's mentioned these! And they practically have a 9-5 nursing job!

White tops and khaki pants In 1 of my rotations I went into the OR and changed into their surgical scrubs. Ooooomg.. I wish we could just wear those. So comfortable and probably cheaper. I'd rather have my school issue scrubs than having us go out to get them on our own.

Business casual/street clothes for my psych rotation. No one wore scrubs at the facility I was in.

I'm also a 3rd semester student and although I haven't personally experienced a death, a lot of my classmates have. Mostly in our 2nd semester on the adult IMC unit... we even had to do postmortem care ourselves.

Oh. Then honestly, it doesn't really matter what you take. If I were you I would just take something that I could get an A in. It's senior year after all! And basic math/algebra/stoichiometry from Chemistry is all the math you'll use in nursing school.

Becoming a CNA is the best way to get experience as a pre-nursing student. I agree with Me-erThanMe, the CNA students that were in my class were much more confident and comfortable doing all the nursing skills we learned in the 1st semester.

would it help me get a job(after nursing school) or even get into nursing school if i can carry on a simple conversation in spanish? yes, i think being able to speak spanish can highly increase your chances of getting a job after becoming an rn. well, depending on where you live. my area has a high population of spanish speakers and it'll be a bonus to employers if you are bilingual. as far as getting into nursing school... not as much in my opinion. it's always a bonus to be able to tell any employer or recruiter that you can speak another language especially in the us. i know that i regretted not taking the extra year of spanish in hs because i've met so many people who could only speak spanish... would have made my life so much easier if i had free time, i'd learn another language on my own any day because at the same time, you also learn about other people's culture as you're learning the language and that is really good for a well rounded nurse!

Not necessary in my opinion. Statistics was a prereq to apply to my nursing program. I would check your nursing program's requirements and see if it's required, and if it is, I'd take AP Stat to get that college credit! And if you pass the AP exam, you won't have to take it in college!

No, you might still have a chance. I think you're acting a little paranoid. Wait a week and call back. Make sure that they're not interested in scheduling an interview with you anymore instead of living with the uncertainty. That's what I would do, maybe shes on vacation too! And I would stop leaving messages and just call and hang up if no one answers since you've already left a couple messages already.

I have a question for nurses in outpatient settings. Does your practice currently use EHRs or in the process of implementing one? I am a nursing student and we're currently using Neehr Perfect, an electronic health record simulator. Working as an intern, I found out that there are a lot of practices which are converting to 'paperless' offices. I'm tech savvy and work with computers all the time, and learning this, I want to know how nurses already working in the field feel about this. I would love to work in a technologically advanced office or hospital and ones that are still old school are big turn offs for me. I know that the new generation of nurses would be like me, but with the older generation of nurses, how do you feel about moving away from paper and carrying around tablets all day?

Hey everyone, I'm a first year nursing student and I JUST finished my first clinical and I have to say that the nurse that impressed me the most was the one with the fanny pack. She was SO prepared. Flushes and alcohol pads are what I noticed she used the most. She had tape, she had a dry erase marker and a permanent marker to label everything; honestly, if I wasn't so selfconscious about what I wore, then I would have one too haha. I noticed that older nurses use these things, but I think the equivalent for younger people would be those storage clipboards. I saw nurses with those as well during clinicals.

I just wear long sleeve shirts I get from Target/Walmart/Khols/Hollister/AE/etcetcetc. Some people I know, mostly guys, they wear hoodies underneath their scrub tops if they're big enough

I'm pretty much the same size and weight as you, haha. I got ended up with ScrubZone elastic waistband pants after trying on the whole store in x-small petite. I wanted draw string pants but everything was way too big; even the other brands in the petite section. Plus! It was really cheap! And Grey's Anatomy is a really good brand. I got their top, but not the pants cos they didn't have the color I needed for my uniform

Most females in my class are already married, taken, or not interested anyway Lol
