How did you celebrate passing your boards?
It snowed (a rarity in TN) so I was stuck at home alone since my husband was out of town. I drank a bottle of wine, slept, and read a fun book for the first time in ages :)

PVT I think I passed!
I had the good pop-up and found out this morning that I passed!! YAY!!! I used the NCBSN Online Review Course at NCSBN Learning Extension . NCLEX preparation . Continuing Education for Nurses . Nursing Faculty Education and I thought it was great. It was only $50 for access to the site for three weeks and the questions really prepared me for the NCLEX questions.

Supposedly that message means you passed, but I'm not telling my friends and family yet!

Took mine yesterday and got the good pop-up, too. I refuse to chill until my quickresults are ready, though.

Pharm, help!!!
I just finished pharm 2 a couple of weeks ago and got an A (yay!!)!! In addition to writing everything a million times... We studied drugs by system (more or less) so I got some of the really big flash cards and had the following cards for each system as we covered it: Major Interactions, Major Toxicities or Side Effects, Black Box Warnings, and then a generic "I totally know they are going to test on this" card. On the other side I listed the drug name and briefly (just a few words) jotted things down to trigger my memory for each type of card. I never listed things like diarrhea as a side effect, but tried to stick to the things that made a drug different. I basically just had a running list going as the semester progressed and it was REALLY nice to have the high points listed this way for my comprehensive final. Hope this helps!

Just for fun; Quotes you use for encourgement
I love this thread...so timely since it is finals week for me!!! I have a sign in my study room that says "Priorities come down to choices. What will you choose today?" because I am a procrastinator and I have to remember to make good choices with my time. My other: Kid you'll move mountains!! (....) You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way!! Dr. Seuss

How old were you when you finished nursing school?
It's my second career, and I'll be just shy of 30 with a BSN. I am the second oldest person in my nursing program, so sometimes I feel so late to the game. It's really nice to see that other people left established careers to be a nurse, too. :)

NA at a hospital?
If you can wait until after you finish your nursing fundamentals course (first semester of nursing classes), then you can get hired without getting your CNA. That is what I did! At my hospital, we are called Nurse Techs instead of CNAs, but we do the exact same work. It has been a great learning experience!!

Planning advice needed
I am 28 and in my first semester of nursing school. I had to make this decision last year. I opted for school now and babies later. So far it has been the right decision because nursing school is really tough and time-intensive. I won't lie - I am jealous of my two best friends with their new babies... but I'll get there someday. Someday shortly after May 2012 when I graduate and am finally a nurse. :) Good luck - it's a tough decision!!

Advice for Returning to BSN Program After a Break
I do still have my old books - and I bet I could get the syllabi for Fall, that's a great idea. Thanks to you both for the advice :) My school does seem very willing to help.

Advice for Returning to BSN Program After a Break
Hello all, I started a BSN program a few years ago - it would have been my second bachelor's degree (the first was in community health education). I'll keep the story short, but basically due to a divorce, I withdrew from the program after one semester. Since that time, I have worked in public health as a health educator and even got an MPH at night (so I haven't been completely out of school mode this whole time), and am now returning to finish my BSN. I did very well first semester (all A's and a B+) and I am very fortunate that my program is allowing me to return right where I left off - but I will be returning cold to second semester in a BSN program in January 2011 and I am very nervous. Any tips on how to prepare and review first semester work? Has anyone else taken an extended break in between nursing school semesters like I will be? I work full-time right now, but I intend to spend a great deal of time studying between now and January. I looked at the booklist for the students starting in the Fall that I will be joining in January, and the books are all the same as when I was there, just newer editions. Do you think it's necessary to update to the new editions when I study? If I had it to do over, I would not have withdrawn from the program, but at this point, I can't change it and just want to make sure I'm successful and well-prepared as I finish up my last three semesters. I'm so excited to finally be a nurse. Thanks for any advice you all have!
