Farmingdale State College
Hello to my fellow future Farmingdale nursing students! I have a question - Is anyone interested in switching clinical times with me? I just found out my work schedule is changing because we have an employee going on maternity leave. I am currently enrolled in NUR108H HUN (90784) which meets Tues 3:00-5:00pm & Wednesdays 7:00-3:00pm. I would need to change my time(s)/locations to ANY of the locations that meet Tues 5:00-7:00pm & Wednesdays 5:00-11:59pm instead. I was one of the first ten people to register so I am hoping someone else out there may prefer the day shift for Wednesday and we could switch. If you're interested please email me at [email protected] THANK YOU!! Best Wishes & Congrats to everyone. :-)

Stony Brook 2yr nursing program 2010 applicants
Is that for the 2yr program? It sounds like an accelerated schedule. At the Nursing information sesssion they said that for the 2 yr program most classes are on Mon & Wed (all day) and one or two days of clinics per week. That is was made to be more flexible than the 1yr accelerated. I think they like to give off the impression that it takes all your time because most people can't handle school & work at the same time, plus the material is intensive. Everyone is different though, I wouldn't fret about it until you go to register and see what it's actually like. There are current 2yr students on other posts who said they had a decent amount of 'down' time. *shrugs* Good luck! :-)

I think they focus more on your gpa for the pre-reqs you need. PLus the NLN pre entrance exam. I had one bad semester at the College I got my Bachelors from, they asked me about it, I explained what happened and they were satisfied because the rest of my grades, esp for the specific pre-req courses were good. Good Luck!

Farmingdale State College
I got accepted to the Farmingdale program starting this Fall. They told me the same thing about the NLN pre-entrance exam. When I spoke to them in person I saw on her desk that they wrote the score on the top of each applicant's application and put them in order by score. Even though I got in, I honestly think they were a bit unorganized this year (probably not anticipating the high number of applicants). Just stay in contact with the school, if you stay fresh in their minds, you may have a better chance getting off the waitlist. :)

Alternative to BSN Bachelor degrees
Just working as an RN in any given deparment, the ASN vs. BSN won't matter much, but as everyone else stated, if you're long terms goals are to have the flexibility of moving into a management position or going for an MS degree then the BSN is needed. It can't hurt to get it so you can keep your options open. :-)

Stony Brook 2yr nursing program 2010 applicants
I just got a letter saying I was put on the alternate list. I already got accepted & registered for the AAS Nursing program at Farmingdale state so I have a back up for next year. I was going to take my last pre-req (social psychology class) this summer if I got into SB, but now I'm neither accepted or rejected! haha I need to decide if I should take the chance and spend the extra $$ on the class over the summer in case I get a call from Stony Brook. The waiting is so exhausting. Congrats to everyone who already got accepted! Good Luck. :-)

I keep checking my SOLAR to see if it's changed, the consensus is that if you're admitted the "Student Admission" tab becomes a "New Student" tab instead. No change here yet . I'm getting so anxious. I was told verbally last week that I got accepted to the Farmingdale program so I have at least a back up, but that's only an Associate program. Plus I would really LOVE to attend a teaching university at the forefront of research. I like being up to date with all the new research going on. ::sigh:: Good Luck to everyone! :)
