Just took the boards yesterday...
It took me about 72 hours to find out my results. I don't know where you live or how your state board is set up but take a look at your state board site. If you have a link to verify licensces click on that and enter you name. It will either come back with a licensce number or a statement ststing something with regards of "testing pending". Good luck !!!!!:smiley_aa

Anyone a CNA/nursing assistant b4 an LPN?
I too worked as a CNA before i became a nurse ........... I found it very helpful, you will be so far ahead of those that don't have that experience GO FOR IT !!! I agree with all the post that say you will have more respect for and work better with your co-workers GOOD LUCK !!!!!!
-
ARE THERE ANY NURSES OUT THERE THAT ACTUALLY "ENJOY" or HAPPY WITH THEIR JOB.
YES !!!! I have only been a nurse since January. Where I work now appreciates it's employees .............. and thats half the battle, that is not to say that there are not days where I am very stressed and find patients that will stretch your patience, over all I am glad I choose nursing. while you are in school and doing your clinicals find out where you want to work. Finding the right hospital and specialty area to work is the other half of the battle. I work high risk OB and love it and my bosses !!
-
what would you do if this was your parent?
WOW !!!! I really don't know what to tell ya. I don't work in the cardiac field. I would tell the cardiologist just what you said here, it sounds like new medicines need to be tried to futher stabilize her. It makes it very hard when living in a rural area to get the care and answers you need. Keep searching until you get the answers you need and feel good about. I know from personal experience you have to keep looking and demand answers. There are good doctors and bad doctors, advocate for you and your mom until you get the right answers. Sorry I was'nt any more help, hope all goes well.

Pre LPN OR RN ? Have chance at both.
I graduated from Gateway community college in Dec 2003 .... I did it working full time and going to school full time YES it is not going to be a piece of cake but with the support of your husband, family and friends YOU CAN DO IT !!! Yes you don't have a life for awhile, but the end result will be worth it. I don't have any children so that part was easier for me but a lot of my class mates did and with good support they did fine. Literally, take it one day at a time, if you look at the big picture to much it gets very overwhelming. Play the games you are asked to play to make it through, ignore the politics, accept a C as a good grade find a study group that wants to study, stay focused and you will do fine !! Good luck and Congratulations !!

Religion's Place in Nursing
No problem. By our works shall we be known .......... People will see a difference in us as well as our convictions just by kiving as christ lived. I have had the wonderful experience of someone asking me if I was a christian; when I replied YES, they said they could tell because I was "different" if we allow God to work through us people will notice. or actions will speak louder then words sometimes .............
-
Religion's Place in Nursing
I firmly feel as you do ....... God rose from the dead and is our salvation; but your words come across hateful and condeming, an attitude that turns people away rather than reaching them. Tolerance and prayer is what is needed here. I realize you may not mean it but you come across as someone who has no love or compassion for those that don't believe as you do. Use your passion for prayer rather than attack and Gods work and word will go much further.

the term "animal nurse"
First off congrats on your boards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I too was a vet tech for 13 years before becoming a nurse I to can see both sides and also feel we don't need to be so hateful about it ...............

Religion's Place in Nursing
For those of you that have not had a good experience in church ......... I am sorry. I only wish that people could experience what I have over the years. Though far from perfect, being we are humans, I have found love, support and an extended family in most places I have been. I know you can have peace in your life with out having jesus in your life but for me, knowing I have someone on my side that loves me for all my mistakes and sin without judgeing makes my life that much more wonderful. I find it amazing that someone would love me somuch as to make the choice to die for me. I know the concept of "Loves the sinner and hates the sin" is a hard concept to believe in ................ But for me it speaks volumes. I speak for myself, christ death on the cross was the greatest gift of his love for me.

Team Nursing, Does it work???
I work in a hospital that does primary care. My experience with team nursing came about 7 years ago as a family member; it was not good. My mom was in the hospitial after surgery for a brain tumor, having medical power of attorney I tried to find out what was going on with her care and no one could tell me any thing !!!! The responses I would get would be I'm only the IV Nurse or I'm only the treatment nurse or I'm the assessment nurse ........... you get the picture. How can any one really know what is going on or recognize any changes when you don't take care of the whole person ?? I personally do not like team nursing. And as a nurse I want to know what is going on with my patient at all levels and all areas of thier care. Thanks for letting me spout off a little !!!!

Can't take anymore
This is a message for all of you "hanging in there" I just graduated in DEC. I know what you are feeling right now. I made it through with the help of my friends, husband and family. BUT; even if you don't feel you have support, remember first and foremost you are doing this for you, for that wonderful feeling of accomplishment and confidience that comes with finishing a job well done !!! It is wonderful on the other side !! some of my first few days on my own were hard but were exciting at the same time................ I would think to my self, this is OK this is what all the hard work was all about !!!continue hanging in there you all will be done soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got the job!!!

NICU is a very special place .......... My nephew lived for 6 months after being born at term, he spent half of that time in the NICU. The nurses made a very difficult time bearable, they and you are a very special breed CONGRATS !!!! and good luck !!:balloons:

Do I Stand A Chance??
I am so sorry to hear that It is very rare I think to get that many and fail. As far as the reveiw class is concerned it may not be a bad idea, but I realize cost can be a factor. I took a few hours a week with a study group (3 of us) reading the questions and a few more hours on my own reading and doing the CD. If the format is anything like they showed me in the tutorial right before I took my test, I think you would do just fine with a good review from the book. Again; you can over study so give yourself some free time too. Don't over analyze the questions, read the black and white and answer what the question is asking; this was a big problem I had. I can only imagine what you are feeling right now, keep your chin up and don't beat your self up over it ............. It does not mean you won't be a good nurse OK ?? take care and let me know how you are coming along OK ??
