  1. It's "masters" and not "masteral".
  2. 14USD per hour is low. Considering that you will also pay for tax.
  3. I'd really love to go there. Hopefully soon! :)
  4. Its actually my dream to go to Turkey one day but hopefully as a real tourist. Also I've met a lot of Indian physicians that are excellent. I think the best would be not to get sick, like a lot of prevention and exercise. lol But oftentimes I'm just too tired I forget to exercise and do eat a lot of junk.
  5. I once saw on TV that there's a lot of foreigners going to the Philippines for kidney transplants. Apparently they save like a couple of thousand dollars when they get it done there compared to the US.
  6. lol I remember one episode of the Simpsons where Homer falls asleep while driving. I actually would go and get myself busy like check all my charts, refill unit stocks, change oxygen tanks, etc.
  7. I'd go with the ones with Joint Commission Accreditation plus, the hospital that speaks my language! How horrible it is to be in a place where you have to guess what the hospital staff is talking about!
  8. Its way cheaper in the Philippines. But your credentials would have to go through verifications often. For example, you have to have CGFNS check your transcripts and Philippine licensure before you can take the NCLEX.
  9. One thing I learned from my mentor is that there are no bad or good teachers. Why? Because if you disagree with either of them, you just have to be the opposite of what they are. If you think one teacher is bad, then do the right things that that person should be doing. If you think that person is good, then by all means emulate that person! One thing that separates adult and children learners is that the adult learner learns selectively and actively learns by acquiring more experience and knowledge.
  10. lol i've always written Name, RN, BSN and never knew the correct way should be Name, BSN, RN Thank you for this info! Û
  11. I agree with this. If they can do it, why then nurses wont?
  12. I think you meant, "We are RNs" and not "just RNs" right?
  13. Thank you. I do learn a lot from this website, really. :)
  14. What's GED? Sorry if I'm a bit naive here. Anyway, I think if you keep adding credentials to your badge, you'd also accumulate a lot of ID badges as the old ones need to be replaced with the newly minted credential.
  15. Can you be turned in for not stopping? And how would they know its you? What if your husband (non-RN) was the one driving the car?
  16. I'm not implying that those signs are supposed to "allow" speeding or any traffic violation, but I am inquiring if some traffic officer would have a "let-go" on you if they see that "RN On-call" sign. I've seen these signs on their windshield and sometimes at the backseat window. Same like those "Baby On-board" signs.
  17. I'm just curious if you guys ever get past a traffic violation like overspeeding when the police officer sees that you have an "RN On-Call" plate/sign on your car? I see a lot of these plates and I wonder what purpose they serve aside from broadcasting that the one inside the vehicle is an "RN On-Call".
  18. You are not required by Facebook to put in your title, so why the effort to place it there? I see this is common for newly minted RN's but I think its too revealing of your identity. Also, I notice that those with multiple RN license do post with their names like this: John Doe, RN, BSN, CGFNS(Indicating they are CGFNS Certificate holder), USRN (Indicating that they have a US RN license) I think its like posting your resume behind your name.
  19. I totally agree with this. It just indicates that you went to school longer. Besides, if the rule is to put all your academic degrees after your name, I wonder if it is acceptable to have the following credentials: John Doe, RN, BSN, MD There are actually some MD's who actually go back to nursing school to be an RN!
  20. I think the BSN in the name is just a matter of: 1. Mandatory per policy/state law 2. Voluntary and by choice of the individual It's either of the two. So, being snobbish is really out of the question. The "snobbish" phenomenon of seeing those letters in a badge is subjective to the one seeing it. If you think it's snobbish then why don't you put all your credentials after your name then? Or ask the person, is it by reason number 1 or number 2 that you have that BSN there. I don't have anything against those who write a litany of their credentials or just plainly write RN after their name. What's important is the care provided to the patient. Remember, nursing is not about the nurse; it's about the patient.
  21. http://www.medscape.com/nurses they have free CMEs on their site
  22. It must have took people from that countries longer time to write their names if they were to include the university name.
  23. This worked for me when I was studying. It's hard to memorize all the drugs in the drug handbook but its good to start from their classifications. From there you can compare the difference between each same drug class (e.g. omeprazole, pantoprazole, etc.) Our professor encouraged us to read at least one drug per day and told us that before we knew it, we'd know more than 365 in a year! Also, read the drug handbook whenever you are not familiar with a certain drug. Best moment that you will retain info about a drug is when you searched it on the handbook, prepare it, and actually teach the patient the possible side effects and all the extra precautions.
  24. Have biomed calibrate it for you. Or bring it to the manufacturer. This is my best answer as I really have no training in fixing this manual BP. Besides if you try to fix it, some sensitive parts might break down or be more inaccurate than before.
  25. Tell them that they are your top choice but the quitting part is another story. Do not volunteer information that may negatively impact you. Saying that you quit your current job for them might sound like "I might quit this new job if I find another 'better' job".
