so heres what i've heard: the head of the nursing school has a blog and on it she said you will get your reply 'on or around march 26' so if u havent gotten it yet (i havent) itll prob come trmw. apparently there was a little prob wiht my app so i called and sent email etc and i head that i would 'have a reply by the end of the month' so i think if u dont have one by april 1st then somethings wrong-until then i'm checking my email every 5 seconds!!!

Been a nurse for 5 years... now 2 med errors in one week. Help.
i think that as long as you have learned from these mistakes you will be ok...actually, you will probably be a better nurse now!! (of course im not reccomending doing this, but we DO learn from our mistakes).... you already know this, but maybe you need to hear it again. im sure u remember a time when you were in grade school and you spelled a word wrong on a spelling test and beat yourself up about it... i bet you've never misspelled that word again, and probably took extra time to check all other words after that test. this situation is understandably difficult, but tell yourself that you have taken time to think and learn from it, and will now be a better nurse it will all work out in the end- everything happens for a reason

It felt good, gave me inspiration
such a great story. that is also why i chose to be a nurse. at first i wanted to be a doctor, but i am much more of a 'people person' and i want to be there to comfort the patients as well as the medical stuff. hope ur feeling better after ur op!

help!! SO nervous about my app/essay
i agree with you about the 100% thing. they are not nurses, but excellent writers and actually, after talking to them i've decided to change my essay and now i feel much more confident about it even though i havent started officially writing the new one! my old essay was exteremely typical, which is horrible for an admissions essay. AND the way i wrote it didn't answer both prompts for both schools, which is probably why i was so hesitant about it. i'm really excited for my new essay now!! if you dont mind, i'll work on it this weekend and hopefully send it to you by sun. i think its going to be much better, and it will stand out in a different way:D btw thanks for the help!! sand dollar and everyone!!! i feel so confident now, this website is like having a team of nurses in my home helping me make the right choices!!

Volunteering......Good or Bad??
agreed that there are no bad sides to volunteering....that is unless it is taking away from your school work/time to study and you are doing more poorly because of it. the best thing is you can just start the volunteering position and if its not for you there are no harsh feelings. you just explain it and your out! give it a try if you have the chance.

San Francisco
i plan on moving to sf (not from far, im in the east bay now) if i get into usf *fingers crossed** i'm going to take my dog with me, but i realize she will have to get used to being a city dog w/o a big yard. do you think its worth it to live in sf? or would you do a commute of 30 min? at the moment i'm doing a commute but thats because i'm at a jc and i CAN plan my school around my commute...

help!! SO nervous about my app/essay
hi everyone, i posted a few days ago about how i have a lot of anxiety about my essay and its just getting worse! to give you a little background, i go to a community college and several counselors ill advised me and told me i wouldnt be transferring for a few yrs at least. i believed them and figured i might as well get a head start by going to the universities myself and seeing if im on a good track. the admission people at both universities told me that i could apply for fall 2010 and the deadline is jan 15. suddenly, everything was happening extremely quickly and now i've been stuck with less than a month to do EVERYTHING! i really don't like my essay and i feel extremely down about it. would anyone be willing to give me some constructive criticism about my essay? i feel like the whole direction of it might be going in the wrong way, and thats why i feel unmotivated to work on it. its a pretty rough draft (grammer/syntax wise) but like i said, if its going in the wrong direction i dont want to spend a bunch of time perfecting it. im just feeling extremely anxious about this whole thing!!!

I get so excited at the beginning of the semester
i'm super excited too! right now im on winter break which is 5 weeks (!) and its only been 3 so far and i feel like i cant wait to go back to school but i know once i start im going to be drowning in hw! i've taken 15-18 units/ semester and maintained an excellent GPA-my trick is to NEVER procrastinate. i feel like i actually have some sort of problem where i CANT procrastinate, if for some reason i do, i feel like i can't work at all, so i always get my work done early. the best trick for/against myself is that i tell myself a test/paper is due 2 days before it really is. And i force myself to believe it- i put it in my calendars, silibus, etc. that way incase an immergency does come up i will have already been ready. The hard part is sticking to it, but if you do, it will REALLLLY help! i hope you give it a try!

admissions essay
dominican's is: why did u choose nursing? what contributions will you make to the profession? USF's is: How will you help carry out usf's mission of creating a more humane and just world?

admissions essay
hi everyone! im new here and im in the middle of my application for 2 schools - University of San Francisco and Dominican university. im writing my essay and i have a LOT of anxiety about it!! i couldnt start so i just wrote something, and it turned out to be an alright rough draft but im not sure if im really doing it right...i'm writing about how being on team in training inspired me to go into oncology which lead me to nursing. the only prob is i have A LOT on team in training and not enough on nursing...it has to be under 2 pgs and its so hard to fit everything in! can anyone offer pointers on how to break it up and any other advice? or maybe someone can read it? thanks so much! this seems like an awesome website!!
