Did you end up doing the program? I am considering the post-masters FNP. It's been an endless game of phone tag thus far.

Northside is "known" to be the best for birthing babies in the ATl area, has been for many years known as the maternity hospital. Id start looking into that place first. Not my specialty though.

I want to go back to school but I can't justify the cost since I am still paying on my loans. But, if I wait, the degree won't have much of a return on investment.

Aspen is Nationally accredited but NOT regionally accredited. This will matter kater if you want to pursue your education further. WGU is both. I enjoyed the RN- BSN at WGU and felt I got a lot out of it, but I also did my MSN there and did not love the program, but different people get different things out of it depending on what you are looking for.

Does a PRN nurse qualify for unemployment? Cant find anything on the unemployment site about this. My facility just cancelled all elective surgeries per the CDC guidelines and put the OR/Periop/Pacu/PST staff out for at least 45 more days. They were going to send us the the floors, but apparently that got dicey when they tried to put OR staff on floors they never worked on etc. Some fo these departments have a very high number of PRN staff and they are all freaking out. The facility is saying that we are not laid off and we will be cancelled daily or put on ATO "until further notice, but at least end of April". It looks like the full time and part time staff can apply for unemployment, but what about PRNS? It seems so odd to not use RNS in a time like this. But I also don't want to get put in a role I would be fumbling.

Bait and switch! Trust your gut, there is a reason you are having doubts. Clarify in writing.

Ask if you can go PRN on your unit. Keep your foot in the door but work way less.

Which others were you accepted to?

Be there to catch her when she falls. This job isn't a good fit and the end is near. Prob better for her to go somewhere that doesn't make her so miserable. There are plenty of other jobs in nursing that would be very different and she will be afraid to try another, but it's the only way to move past this. Knowing what you know about her partner, you be there for her. You tell her it's ok not to be perfect. You remind her we are all human. Eventually she will see who he is. You will be there for that, too. Just be the support and the cheerleader she needs. Not every job is a good fit. There are plenty of others she could try that are totally different from the one she hates now. NO JOB IS WORTH FEELING THAT WAY. Your mental health comes first.

Do you even want to work with that lady? She sounds dreadful. Do you have colleagues you can use as a reference? Is there an HR or corporate you can contact, in writing, to clear your name? I wouldn't want to go back but Id want a good reference and my record to not be blemished by personal vendettas.

The only way to spark change would be for multiple people to write written complaints about this providers behavior. It has to be a pattern. So if it is just you that has an issue they will blame you. If they get multiple complaints from nurses about that office, they will be forced to address it. So if it happens again to someone else, encourage them to report it. If you have to call again, and the charge nurse ok's it, maybe do the call on speaker phone (in a private office) with the charge as a witness just in case of more bad behavior.

Maybe she just kept it from you. Why are you so interested? I'd just stay out of it. No good can come from this kind of gossip. Keep in mind, if they gossip with you, they are probably also gossiping about you.

I don’t disagree completely and jobs vary greatly. There are plenty of terrible places to work, I recently stumbled into one. But there are still decent jobs to be had. They are harder to find. And I really feel like who you work with and how you support each other can make all the difference. I unfortunately have bills to pay. So I’m going to be working. I am going to keep trying to make the best of it. I’m worked with some amazing nurses thus far. And it really does make or break a job for me.

Be the change you want to see in nursing. I try to be the nurse I needed when I was new. It’s a hard job full of stress. It’s the culture of the unit that makes or breaks you. It’s not easy, especially when new. But we all got through it. You can, too. When you do clinical try to find a unit where staff seems happy and like a good team. Make note of the ones where everyone seems miserable. It will help you when job searching later. Also working as a float tech while in school can help you learn the good from bad areas. It can also help you network.

Go back to work. Keep your head down. It takes time to gain trust. Don’t let one incident ruin you. The other employees probably know this doctor is an *** if it’s true. Start looking for another job on the DL. It’s easier to find one when you have one.

It has nothing to do with honesty. It’s none of your business. Getting in other’s business is not a good quality when you work on the floor. Stay out of the drama and mind your own. I promise you’ll get much farther.

Should I say that or just not mention?

Ok guys, I’ve got past the phone interview and now am planning for in person interview. The potential job email is asking me for my current employer and if they can contact. (No!) Do I tell the truth and let them know I just took this job and already plan to quit? I know that looks bad. Or just leave it off and tell them my previous job I recently left. My previous job doesn’t know I took another job. I’m an upfront person and would rather just tell the truth but I know it looks bad to leave a job right after taking it. But it was not presented honestly. I don’t want to hurt chances of the new job. What should I say?

Meh. So many bigger fish to fry. Who has time for that anyway?

This is a terrible situation to be put in. I am not a call out person, but there is no way you can take this assignment. Is it a hospital? What type of facility? Go up the chain of command and put it all in writing ahead of time. They need to fix it before this situation happens.

I accepted a job that was supposed to be 4 days a week. Now that I have started I am told it will be 5 days a week with prime rush hour commute times. Not what I agreed to. Leadership doesn't care, just said it is what it is. I got very bad vibes discussing it. Actually ignored my emails asking to talk about it until I went and found her in person. Also before accepting the position I had requested to be out by a certain time one day next month due to a scheduling conflict and HR emailed me saying it would be ok. Now I am being told it is not ok, and they need me to stay 30 minutes past that time even thought it will still be orientation. I really want to just quit but I have to find another position. And this position seems like a nice area to work in. I do not want to go back to my previous one, I was happy to move on after 8 years. It was three 12 hour shifts so I may end up trying to go back, but my day shift got grabbed I would have to do nights. Here is the good news, I applied for several other jobs and have gotten a call to set up an interview for one place and a phone interview for another . Phone interview I can do at lunch. But for an in person interview? Do I call out sick? Do I make an excuse and go in late? Get sick and leave early? I have NEVER been one to call in sick and it causes me guilt and anxiety to do so, but how else will I interview for jobs while on a 5 day work week? Sometimes the grass is not greener.

If it isn't too far for you to go in person, I would say worth a shot. The worst they can say is no.

You started after me and are already passing me! lol I deeply regret mailing in the paper app. I should have done online. I was concerned about all the pieces getting there online.

The site says they offer this 3 times a year, does anyone know when they are typically offered? I missed this one, but might try for the next one.

I did apply for a temp, but they have not even opened my envelope yet, and from what most others have been posting, several have stated they never even got the temp license even though they paid for it.
