  1. New Grad

I am very excited to be starting my nursing career on the mother/baby unit. From the day I started nursing school I always said I would not work M/S when I graduated and God answered my prayers. Hopefully I can eventually get into L/D and next fall g...

  4. Teching while in Nursing School?

Working as a tech is great experience but I do agree with not letting work interfere with your school work. In the program I graduated from during the summers we had to do co-op pt & ft. During the school year I worked contingent (1 sat, 1 sun &a...
  5. ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  6. I guess I am very fortunate, my love is OB and ER and I was offered both. I went with OB because it is harder to get into. I guess what helped is that I worked in the ER as a student nurse and I went and got my ACLS before I even got my license. With...
  7. School question

Actually most programs you graduate with the class you came in with, there was no moving forward quickly at least not at my school. I graduated from a BSN program but before I went there I had already done all my prereqs and general eduation at commu...
  8. New Grad

Thank you so much. Actually I applied to every L&D and Mother/Baby posting I would find and at the interview I just told the manager how being a RN in OB has always been my passion and that the hospital has lots of room for me to grow in my profe...
  9. Where is your heart at?

Start with what you want, if it is a specialty so be it. If u like Med/surgery then go for it but there is no formula for what a nurse needs to go into, follow your heart.
  10. precepting GN's

When hired as a GN you still cannot push meds until you are licensed so what harm could it cause? It is the same as being a tech, but you are being trained into the RN role for when you pass your boards.
  11. trying to become a RN

Definitely speak with an advisor in order to find out the specific prereq's that you need in order to get into a program. Good Luck!
  12. i totally agree with you, we had lot's of clinical practice and was also required to do summer coops in an approved facility in order to graduate. bsn requires more theory which truly helps the nurse to understand the "why" behind your actions. plus ...

    1. When did you graduate? May 2010 2. Do you have a BSN or ADN? BSN 3. Are you still looking for work? Nope 4. If not, how long did it take you to find a job? Worked as a Student Nurse in ED until I got a RN position in August on a mother/baby unit a...
  16. Testing on 9/11, going for my 2nd attempt

I studied content and did about 500-1000 questions for 7 weeks and I passed with 80 questions. I spent a few hours a day sometimes the whole day reviewing.

  18. Dilemma over Jobs, Advice needed

    Congratulations!
  19. new grads in MI

Try DMC... you can't start working until you pass boards but you can interview and they will offer you a job contingent on passing boards. I just passed my boards but I had accepted a job beforehand and had to turn down another. Keep trying it will h...
  20. Did nclex-rn today, so relieved, test wasn't hard

    Congrats!
  21. JUST took NCLEX and felt GREAT. Could that be BAD?

Pearson Vue Trick (PVT)....I am pretty sure that is what they meant.
  22. Want: Currently I work in a level 1 ED and wouldn't mind staying there, I have worked in PEDS and wouldn't mind going back as a RN. My first love is L&D and I would also do OR, ICU, NICU. Never: med/surg, geri, LTC
  23. How to get accepted into University of Detroit Mercy

Back when I started it was a 2.8 but have since gone up to a 3.0 plus a composite score of 75 on the NET. When transfering grades as long as it is a C or better they will accept it. I transferred a C or two when I came and I got right in.
