  1. As a new grad RN I haven't had many interviews, but in the couple that I have had I always get asked "do you have any questions for us?" What are some appropriate things to ask? I always try to do my research before an interview and I don't want to ask a question that would make it seem like I didn't know anything about the company. In the last interview I had I asked a couple questions about things like patient ratios, orientation time, how/when they notify applicants, etc. But the woman interviewing me did not seem to be satisfied and she just kept asking if I had more questions, at that point my mind went blank and I told her I didn't have more questions. There was then a long awkward silence as if she was waiting for me to think of something. What are some good things to ask? I have started to apply for a few jobs out of state, is it appropriate to ask about the area/relocating? What questions should I ask for HR interviewers? And what questions for the nurse managers?
  2. What state are you coming from? MI takes about 2 months for your license to be endorsed from another state, but I also know that MI takes a really long time to get your ATT. So if you want to get the NCLEX out of the way, I would check with the state your currently in to see how long it would take to get an ATT if its fast go with that state and then endorse the license to MI ASAP.
  3. I agree, definitely try to get a job in a hospital (if thats where you want to work after graduation) you are far more likely to be hired as a RN if you're an internal applicant. There are very few states hiring new grads right now, and its extremely competitive!
  4. I passed my boards already and am still having no luck, I'm in the grand rapids area now but I am willing to re-locate within Michigan. Best of luck to everyone on the NCLEX!
  5. hey just wondering if any new grads in Michigan have had any luck finding jobs? If so, where? LTC? Homecare? Hospitals? Any advice for another discouraged new grad? I'm not really able to re-locate out of state at this point, and like so many others I have loans to start paying back I thought getting my BSN vs ADN would be worth the extra money but apparently not.
  6. wow congrats on getting 2 job offers! I'm sure you'll get some great experience no matter which one you choose! Personally I would LOVE to work at UM, any advice for a new grad trying to get in there?
  7. HI I was just wondering what the MI job market looks like for new grads? I will be graduating with my BSN and considering a move from Ohio to Michigan so I have a few questions. Are new grads able to find jobs in acute care? Does location matter? I am willing to move to either a large or small city so where should I begin to look? Any advice would be so helpful to me!
