Newer grad thinking of leaving nursing..
I graduated in 2011 also and relocated back to my home state. I took a job in a rural area, brand new rehab unit. All nurses hired, there were 6 of us, were new grads. I had 2 days do shadowing an LPN on the M/S floor before we were set loose on our own pts. It was 1 RN& 1 CNA per shift. Our census was usually 3-4pts, with varying levels of acuity. We were treated like the red headed step children of the hospital, every time I had to have an RN check my insulin I got rolled eyes, if we had someone turning for the worse we were pushed out of the way so the "real" nurses could take over. It happens everywhere, just keep trying and keep your chin up...

I Want To Be A Nurse, But My Grades Aren't Competitive. Help!
Another issue is that sure, you're accepted, you complete your theory, but have to be on waiting lists for clinical time. At one community college in MI i know there was a 2year wait. Some schools see the almighty dollar and start cranking students through theory, but don't have room at local hospitals to have adequate timely space for clinicals.

Faux Leather Shoes
Stay away from canvas - they wont be white for long. Also think of if anything wet hits them it will soak through... just a thought. Good luck on your search. Try Birkenstocks- I'm pretty sure they have a vegan line.

nurse mates anyone?
I don't wear anything but Danskos. They're supposedly hand made so sometimes if you try on more than one pair in your size you may get a better fit. Break-in isnt too long, just don't try to do it during a shift. They're worth every penny!

Licensing advice please!
I'm graduating in May from out of state and am wondering if anyone had any advice about licensing. I'm hoping to take NCLEX ASAP after graduation to get it out of the way before moving back to MI. So I was wondering if it would be easier/quicker to become licensed out of state and transfer my license to MI, or get my ATT from MI and take the test out of state. Sorry, I know it's about as clear as mud. I won't be able to return to MI until about July so I definitely want to take NCLEX before then. Any input would be appreciated...Thanks!
