Does anyone know how the transition from phase 2 to 3 works? Is it possible to be accepted into the accelerated program and not move on to the third phase for the speciality that you choose? Thanks

I would document it because if you "lie" on your application and it comes up that would most likely prevent you from getting the job. I would explain in detail what occurred.

I have a friend that was accepted into Emory's accelerated BSN/MSN program. What I can tell you is that it is very competitive. My friend had a 3.9 GPA with a science related degree and was placed on the waiting list. Luckily someone else decided to decline their seat and she got in. Georgia State also has an accelerated program which is competitive as well but not to the degree of Emory. They have two groups starting in January and August of each year but I would recommend having a relatively high GPA and high score on the TEAS exam as well. I would also recommend having all prereqs completed before applying to avoid a lower applicant score. Good Luck

I would recommend retaking a few of the main science prereqs to raise your GPA to at least a 3.0 because you are not far off from it. I believe Kent State's accelerated program requires at least a 2.5 GPA. I would also try to collect outstanding letters of recommendations and if the school requires a GRE I would do very well on that as well. Some schools do look at the whole picture instead of focusing solely on the GPA. Good Luck!

I will be starting my program soon and this is my biggest worry! I am so concerned about graduating and not being able to find a job in OH or GA. I know that a lot of hospitals have hiring freezes for new grads and that is a tad bit unsettling.

I recently changed my career. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and worked in substance abuse treatment centers. While I did love my job I knew nursing was a better fit for me so I applied to an accelerated BSN/MSN program and was accepted. Judging from what you have said I think a career in nursing would be a good fit for you.

I would ask individual schools how strict they are on the GPA requirement. Often if you have a great GRE score and outstanding letters of recommendation then they will consider the applicant even if their GPA is slightly lower than the minimum. I would also recommend possibly taking some courses over that you did not do well in to raise your GPA. Good luck!

Withdraw! That is an important science prereq. If you have multiple W's then it would be alarming.

I agree with Wendy79. I think you should be careful about burning bridges so I would definitely ask how long do you have before you need to accept or deny the position and contact the other manager to see what your chances are or when she will be making an offer for the position. From my experience I think Ohio nursing programs are easier to get into. I did my undergraduate education in Atlanta, GA and remained there after I graduated. I decided to do an accelerated nursing program in Atlanta and had a really hard time getting accepted. I applied to one school (there are very few accelerated BSN programs in GA) and could not get into the program. I applied two times and did not get in simply because the applicant pool was very large and the number of seats were very small. I applied to the University of Cincinnati's Accelerated program and was accepted with no problem. Good luck on your journey!

Hello everyone, I was recently accepted into the University of Cincinnati's Accelerated MSN program for the spring 2011 cohort. I was wondering if there were any other people out there that have been accepted as well and if any past or current students can tell me what to expect with the program. For those that have already graduated, how difficult was it to find employment in the local hospitals as a new grad, specifically in ER or ICU departments because I am interested in the Nurse Anesthesia program for the masters portion.

Hello All, I called the office today to ask if they were finished reviewing applications and the secretary informed me that they were still making decisions and all applicants will be notified by the end of the month! This is killing me! I have a friend that got his acceptance letter last Friday so does that mean that they only send out a few each week?
