  1. Thanks for the reply! Is it mostly just taking notes and studying the material? When do you actually start learning more about procedure and care vs. the history (I do understand that the history of subjects is usually the start of any classes, but it's usually sooooo boring to me )
  2. Hang in there! I would say finish off your degree as planned and then either wait it out for the waiting list, get a loan for the BSN school, or try and work in the health field in some capacity or as a CNA for the years you're waiting to get in (PT if you can find FT in your degree's major). I'm sure the experience will help find a job after nursing school.
  3. Ugh is right! The worst part for me is that I've already taken every pre-requisite that I needed, but I have to take them all over again because they're more than 10 years old. Talk about trying to stay focused. Just look at the end result!
  4. This is great info. Thanks!
  5. I'm wondering what a nursing class is really like? I mean, if I sign up for Anatomy, I can figure out we'll be studying the human body, but when I read the course description for Nursing I, etc. I can't really get a feel for all that's involved in a class. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
  6. Definitely let the last test go! It doesn't mean anything now. When I'm taking a test, I put myself in a bubble and try and ignore everything and anything around me that isn't test related. Just try and get into that "zone". You'll do great!
  7. I'm replying to this thread so I can see all the replies. I'm a second degree student and will be leaving a FT job also, with a house and family on top of it all who depend on my income. I have no idea how the heck we're gonna do it!
  8. I think an in-person class is the way to go if you're not comfortable with you math skills.
  9. I agree, YouTube is wonderful for things like this. I would read and take as much as you can in, find some practice tests to test what you've just read, re-read, watch YouTube and retest yourself.
  10. I'm taking my class online right now. Actually, the professor allowed me into the class 4 weeks into the semester because I need it as a pre-requisite for a program I'm applying to. I'm only in week 3 of the coursework, so I'm sure it's going to get more difficult. It's been pretty easy so far, though. Then again, I like math :)
  11. I've heard about Exelsior College through this site. Might want to take a peek at them if you're already an RN.
  12. I've been checking the job boards at the Worcester area hospitals, and there seems to be a good amount of RN positions available at them. I do know a few recent grads that had a tiny bit of trouble finding work, though, but they all did within 2 months of graduation.
  13. Thanks, I think I need to post a few more times before I can reply to your message, but I have a lot of questions for you!
  14. Sailrmar9 - I would love to know more about the GEP at UMass Worcester. How was the first year? What was you schedule like? I want to know everything :)
