from slammin121684 yes you have to pay for parking but its only a few dollar taken out of your second paycheck. initally you pay a flat 30 fee to park as a temporary employee that allows you to park for about 4 months until your unit and **** is picked.

@ tmy5009 Some units do have dress codes - Trauma nurses wear all black scrubs and I believe ER is royal blue. But other than OR everyone wears their regular scrubs.

You do have alot to think about but I have to tell yoo I made the move from PA for Vandy and I feel its the best decision I ever made. Don't look at the $ b/c its the expereince that really counts and I have learned soooo much here.

Well yeah, we do all take the same NCLEx regardless of wheather or not you have a BSN or ADN, but its not the same. Having a ADN can be a barrier to employment b/c there are some employers that have changed their ads from "BSN prefered" to "BSN desired". You have to decide what is best for you, but keep a few thing in mind. 1.With the economy the way it is you may want to spend that extra two years in school. 2. Employment oppurtunites increase with higher degree 3. Intern/Extrern programs are more willing to accept BSN nurse and that experience can not only enhance your clinical skills, nut it looks good a resume.

it also depends on if you have a ADN or BSN. Alot of the city hosptials and even some of the suburban hospitals are starting to post BSN only. These are some of the rates I heard from my classmates MLHS 28 Mercy 30 Temple 40 I suggest you secure a position before you up-root because the HR websites are also starting to post "NO NEW GRADUATES"

The market for new grads is just as bad in PA. Hosptial websites on this end are starting to put in the ad "No New Graduates" I just graduated too and let me tell you its hard. I have a friend that had put in 357 application in every state and she has an ADN and a BS in another field. Some of my classmates are taking prn positions at nursing homes and the prison(!) because they have not been able to get in at a hosptial. I have found networking is very important for the people who have already gotten jobs. I have one friend who carries around her resume and passess it out at work (she's currently a waitress). I have looked into other states as well Texas, Florida and California have the biggest nursing shortages and welcome new grads with open arms. You could also look up internships and residencies, many of those programs start in Jan and the application deadline are approacing quickly if the have not already passed. Looking for a job is a full-time job so expect to work at it.
