  1. Are you currently at a VA that is offering retention bonuses? Or are you on a specific pay scale as a critical care nurse. I see some VA hospitals are doing that.
  2. I'm curious when you get promoted fron a nurse II to nurse III, do you go up to the same step?
  3. I'm curious when you get promoted fron a nurse II to nurse III, do you go up to the same step?
  4. I am interested in more information on the 72/80. I'm in Michigan, and there has been talk of implementing this in the ICU because it was trialed there first. I am not in the ICU, however, would like more information for leadership. Can anyone send me the presentation to [email protected]? Or send me any information that you have? Thank you
  5. Hi, I would like to know of any emergency departments are doing the 72/80 schedule
  6. I received a final offer letter by email with a start date. But for some reason my usajobs.gov account has not been updated to selected. It still shows as referred as my status. I am wondering what to do since the start date is coming up soon, and I want to give my notice. However, I have heard of the positions being cancelled at the last minute, so I want to play it safe. I wonder why my account has not been updated.
  7. I am applying to Walden. How do you like the program? I am also from Metro Detroit area. What do you think of it?
  8. Did you have issues with the transcript verification? Have you heard anything? I applied for the Adult-Gerontological NP
  9. I applied, and there were issues with my transcript verification process. I had all my transcripts sent abut 10 weeks in advance, and one was still not processed in time. The NURSINGCAS claimed that they only received my graduate transcripts from one school, although they had never sent me a message to contact me telling me this. I then contacted them multiple times, and finally my transcripts were verified on 8/14. I think the deadline for transcript verification was 8/1. So I think my application will get pushed back to the next semester...Did you have issues with the transcript verification? Have you heard anything? I applied for the Adult-Gerontological NP area.
  10. Did the msn require any clinical hours?
  11. So are the other programs allowed to complete clinical with an NP or PA? I also saw that the school had a list of sites that they work with from each state. Have you used any of the sites from the list?
  12. I am applying to the position in Michigan. I received a call from the recruiter, but not sure what to expect as far as scheduling, salaries, benefits, etc... Do they do 8 or 12 hour shifts? Did you have opportunities for overtime if you wanted?
  13. How long will it take to complete the RN to MSN? I have an associates but a bachelors in another area. I work 3 days per week. How far along are you in the program?
  14. So how long did it take for your to complete the MSN?"
  15. Any luck with finding a program? I have a bachelor's in another area and I am looking for a bridge program
  16. I'm also in a similar situation. I have a non nursing bachelor's and work on a telemetry unit. I'm looking for an online program. I'm applying to University of South Alabama. I want to find a couple backup options though
  17. I am finally applying now for the July deadline. I'm a little nervous considering what everyone has said on some of the other message boards. How many hours per week would you say you spend studying during the first year before you start clinicals? How did you arrange your clinical site? What specific specialty did you choose?
  18. Is anyone on here in the program now? What do you think? I'm applying for the program now. I am a newer RN, about 2 years of med-surg and telemetry experience in a busy urban hospital. What type of background do you come from? What is the balance like between work and school?
  19. I haven't started the process yet. I hope to work on it this week, and get everything in by the deadline. It looks like the deadline is the 1st week of February. Did you apply already? Are you looking at any other programs? I have a ADN and a B.S. in Education, so I am limited to the programs that I can apply to.
  20. I am interested in the Adult Geriatrics NP program offered by USA. I am interested on hearing other people's experiences. I'm not sure if I will get in. I was a teacher in my previous career, and have about a year and a half experience in nursing. I work in med/surg and telemetry. I also have some corrections experience in a clinic type setting. Do you think the program is possible for someone to still work 2-3 12 hour shifts per week?
  21. The person I spoke to said they get about 200 people apply, and they only accept 30 people...Doesn't sound like very good odds to me!
  22. I am also from Michigan. What program did you end up attending? I just recently started looking into this and will be applying to several programs in the next couple months. I work as a RN in a hospital, but most schools will not allow you do arrange clinicals at your own place of employment...Do you have any tips for finding a preceptor? Right now I work in med-surg in a busy hospital, and I have a little bit of a background in corrections as well. I am concerned that I will not be able to find a preceptor. What types of places did you call? I thought about trying places like Wayne State Physicians Group, they seem to have many NPs.
  23. I'm also in Michigan. What program did you end up attending? I'm also worried about finding a preceptor. That is a good idea. Would you be able to send me a copy of your letter? I'm applying to a couple different programs over the next few months that are online.
  24. I am also applying to NP programs in the next few months. I would also be required to find my own preceptor. I work at a hospital in Detroit, but the school will not allow you do to your clinicals at your own hospital. Any suggestions on finding a preceptor? Any tips? I'm so worried that I will not be able to find one. I am going to do an Adult NP program, hopefully though Ball State, my second choice is Frontier and the FNP program.
  25. So how does that work if you are waitlisted? So if you are accepted, you don't have to reapply? I am confused about how the whole process works.
