  1. both maintain a moist environment. But hydrocolloid dressings have the capacity to absorb mild exudate or drainage.
  2. Took me nine months to a year in nyc with a BSN. Don't get scared though, our graduating class had grad-to-hired times that varied greatly, depending on how early they started looking & how much they networked. From people getting offers prior to graduating up to a good year for those who delayed & didn't realize how tough the market was *ahem* PS nine months (for a scary agency LTC job). a year for my dream job.
  3. Hahhaa. Riiight?! Like it matters. ah... well, I'm sticking with: "I'm a new grad until I get that 1 year experience."
  4. Sent you private message. :) Anyone who seriously needs to know, just pm me. :) Privacy and all...
  5. Fingers crossed!!! Hang in there! :)
  6. Yes! I've had 4 interviews for new grad positions in 3 nyc hospitals (Yes, twice in the same hospital for 2 different positions!!)! Sadly, I did not get any of them. But the managers and recruiters have told me that they hire "competitive new grads"... high GPAs, externship experience, the likes... Just network for now. How I wish I got over being really shy. Chummy up to the nurse managers both in the unit you're working in and the units you have clinicals in (especially during your preceptorship rotation). It wouldn't hurt to hand them your resume if you're interested in their unit. Best of luck to you! Just double the effort... You have a nice head start since you frequent this site! (How I wish I did the same last year!)
  7. Today... I'm thankful for: * Hair products & mascara, without which I'd look like a boy * My patient, kind, and forgiving hubby who looks @ me lovingly even when my hair is limp & flat * My future full time job in a profession I can't wait to kick ass in * A roof over my head, food on the table, clothes on my back, and my exciting love/hate relationship with my family and friends! * Rekindling the fire with my God... :)
  8. What, specifically, is discouraging you?
  9. That's appalling! Have you told your clinical instructor? I believe that would be the chain of command... Also, at the end of clinical rotations, they usually give you a form to evaluate the unit/ hospital, don't they?
  10. So I got this alarming comment from one of the recruiters I spoke with. She said after 6 months, new graduates are no longer considered "new"?!?! Not sure it matters but yeaaahhhh.... So, after November, I'm just "mopin around graduate RN?" or "weighing all my 'options' grad RN" or "just waiting for the call grad RN?" or "expert flu shot RN...." Oh well.. I suppose the new batch of jobseekers are graduating... sniff. One more month... I am old.
  11. Wow now this is something new!!! They made you wait after they've told you you got it?!?! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Your persistence paid off BIG TIME! :)
  12. (OMG! I can't edit my title anymore! hahaha. Sorry for the grammatical error!! )

If you're a new grad, just be prepared for being turned away like a leper! kidding. But yeah, seriously, have tons of resumes @ hand. Ask for a business card / contact number from the person you're speaking with as well so you can follow up. I would say, unless you have the patience, you might as well skip the the long lines of the major hospitals. The people manning those stations are usually not the actual nurse recruiters but rather just HR... and they will pretty much tell you: "Yes, hand me a your resume, but its no good. Apply online." For the agency, mention "wellness" positions... they;re usually hiring new grads... flu shots, health fairs, wellness clinics etc... Good luck! :)

Very similar. The list of participants are the almost the same. I checked the websites! Skipping this one. Have too many logo-dpens as it is. And, well, a list of hospitals/ agencies to last me a lifetime! Now if only something definite can come out of it... We can do this y'all!
