Appearently no Hospital is Hiring (plz dont ignore)
Not a lot of them hiring, but there is some. You just have to try harder and the best way through agency. Flu shot immunization accept LVN as well, do it for a time being. And if you get a nursing home do not even think about letting it go. Any experience and any job is better than nothing. Right now LVN's, RN's new grads and expereinced ones are looking to get something. So just get into something while pursuing for a hospital job. Good luck to you and I will pray for you.

I got hired on the spot!!!
Thank you all and bodz01---nice words. Thank you so much. Its is a nice feeling , I can't wait to start. I am just bored at home. I do not start till Nov. 2. But I am not complaining just stating facts.Did the drug test, next week I will do PPD and blood work. Yes being foregin and nurse is hard. The good thing I went to college here in US , so it made it easier for NCLEX. Just a yesterday a friend of mine who is a nurse but from Ethiopia was asking me for advice. She was working as a nurse over there for 6 years, she said the critical questions are way different and harder. She need to take NCLEX here to get a licence. Anyway, I told her not to rush, just take her time and prepare herself. Anyway, thanks again, The hospitals can not be on freez forever!! I wish you all the best.

SHould I just go straight to the RN program????
There is nothing dreadful than being unhappy! If you think you are not treated based your brains, its not worth staying there. Plus, you wnat to upgrade your self, as an LVN, you will be exposed with what RN does and you will see you are capable of doing it. Why should you get paid less because you are not RN!! I always say shoot for BIG,go ahead and be RN!!!

Huge let down from one of my profs
Wow! well you know yourself and how you feel about nursing more than anyone. But you have to come off your anxiety, shy, and reserve , atleast you have to try. Instead of telling your prof the above ask her , for advice how you can help your anxiety, shy and reserve behaviour. When she see how you are trying to prove yourself and how much you are trying , she will come around. Look at it from your prof. point of view, she want you to be open, participate and discuss in the classroom, these are things nursing students should do. Not so much about your personal life I am talking about, but we have to be ready in the classroom ALERT and FOCUS!!! If she do not see your eagerness and your willingness then she will misjudge you( like now)!! When you become a nurse, and be responsible for patients, mostly more than one patient , you are expected to be Alert, Focus and think FAST. Your prof. is trying to prepare you for the real world. Talk to her , tell her and try to understand her point of view and make her understand yours. You also need to manage your time well, work something out, shedule study time, play time, family time.....etc.Most people here will tell you, that we went to school with full responsiblits, I was a wife and mother while going to nursing school. ( still wife and mother). Anyway, its not easy but I have to work out schedule that works for me , so I can be Alert, Focus and Fast!! Bottom line, my advice to you is Reexamine your time management and Approch your prof differently , by asking her for advice... Good luck, I hope it helps

New Grads- What floor where you hired for?
I will be on Telemetry- cardiac-Plumonary. I wanted L&D or pediatrics. For now this will do just fine. I hate med/surge , this one more like a modified med/surge so I am very happy with this floor. I enjoyed it as a student nurse. so I am looking forward to it. I also choose night shift 7:15pm-7:00PM.

Is this illegal?
It sounds absurd. But did she or not start oriientation?? Did her title change, get a new ID???? If that is the case maybe its taking them long to adjust. My friend was a CNA, then RN, it took them a whole a month and half before they adjust her salary. But they explained upfront , there is a proccess... so maybe your friend need to ask the process, how long it will take stuff like that. I do not think it matters becase the person who hired her left....there a bunch of people involved in hiring someone. You made it sound like a private hiring. Your friend need to get down on business and ask management in person and in writing. Hope it turns out finr

HELP!! I need guidance I saw someone cheating
I know how you feel because I saw someone cheat from a paper,But I never said anything because I did not want her get into trouble. But please don't tell on your classmate. What is done is done! Nursing is too hard to get into and then stay and graduate, so please do not mess this one. Plus pretty soon it will soon catch up with her, you can NOT get your way in nursing. That's exactly what happenend to the girl I witnessed, she did not graduate with me. So let nature take its couse. Don not be sore because you feel you deserve more than her. You got what you got on your own , be proud and do better next time. Just let it go.

I got hired on the spot!!!
Well, this hospital is one of NY's private hospitals and it took them almost 2 month to call me for the 2nd interview. Plus many of my classmates applied to same hospital with same experience and status as me , got turned away. So I doubt it if they just hiring me on the spot because they just accepting anyone. Besides, teh economy is so bad and so many nurses looking to get thier foot someplace, I am sure they are choosing and picking who to hire. Anyway, I totally understand what you said and I respect your opinion. The truth is, God's Grace shined on me and I prayed and tried too hard. I think it was just my time. Thanks again P.S yeah! dream job called and I did not get it. But who cares right now????

My Interview--Please what do you think???? Do not ignore me!!
well, well, well...........Guess who call today??? After almost 2 weeks I got the call for my dream job, I guess it was not meant to be, I was told the position was given for another candidate!! Thank God, I already got another job offer, I would have been devastated!! The HR guy must have to think I am crazy, because when he was saying sorry, I was comforting him. I told him is ok, cheerfuly. He said a week from one, he will have some positions open and that he would call me. I did not tell him I already got a job, why? I do not know! Anyway, amazingly I feel so good, tomorrow I got do drug test..lets hope that turns OK!! Ha ha just kidding I am clean as a weasel!! Thank you all for the support and I am devoting all my prayers to Blackhearted!! But I do think that if the position is available online that means there is a chance for you. But talk to your clinical prof, ask her if anyone called her. But I assure you prof are most of nice, they like to help us. I really doubt if she going to give bad reference. But ask her directly , so u do not have to wrry about it. Good luck and God bless you all

Job search for a new grad
Just keep applying, I recommend face to face application. So far I have had 4 interviews and all of them because I went thier in person. I always ask for business card and contact info , even if it is clerk's number. One clerk was so impressed that I remember her name and talk to her with respect, she make sure my resume was looked by the recruiter and I got interview. The point is just try to get something out of it when ever you apply in person and do follow up. I just got a job, on Friday, that one too I got the first interview when I applied on foot, that was wayback in June, then they call me at the end of July for 2nd interview but eneded up canceling it because they said they gave the position for someone internal, I was devestated. But the recruiter said she will consider me for Nov position and just like she said I got the call and got accepted. I really hope and wish you get something. I feel so lucky. I did not even post it on Facebook that I got a job, because so many of my classmates are on facebooka and still nothing. Its very hard time but keep on trying and pray! Wish you all the best

situational questions for the telemetry unit? interview tomorrow
Here are sample behavior/situational interview questions that may be asked during an interview. Describe the duties and/or responsibilities during your work and/or academic experience demonstrate you ability to do the job for which you are applying. Describe situations during work, school, and campus affiliations where you demonstrated leadership qualities. What skills and attributes do you bring to the job? Give examples from work experience, classroom, and/or organizational involvement which demonstrate that you are creative. Give examples from work experience, classroom, and/or organizational involvement which demonstrate that you are a self-starter. Describe situations that demonstrate you have the ablilty to work with other people. Given the opportunity, list the areas with respect to yourself that you would improve and how you would improve these areas. Tell me about a time when you made a major sacrifice to achieve a work-related or personal goal. Tell me about a time when you failed or failed to accomplish a goal you set for yourself and how you handeled that situation. Describe a time when you were under a lot of stress and how you handled it. I am new grad and i just got accepted in Telemety floor. My interview has nothing to do with anything, she jsut ask me Tell me about your self. I just talked about my experience as a student nurse, and my externship experience with a little adding about my personal life. It worked! But my first interview was with the recruiter and she basically asked about Traditional interview style, your stregnth, your weakness, what can you offer....etc. Anyway, just be mindful Telemetry is speciality, it requires for you to act and decide quickly. You need ACLS and Cardiac Monitoring certifcation which the hospital provides. Its a very busy floor, a lot of monitoring required. Th Nurses even got a beeber just incase. Good luck to you a million times and so sorry we did not reach you soon. I hope you get the job. The questions above are what I found on the internet.

Fellow student is....a little stinky
OMG, I Have almost the same story. And this was when I did my summer externship, the girl with the stink issue was actually a new nurse on orintation. When she walked in, you just want to throw up. Its was sooooooooo bad. We were in L&D and teh father whos wife was on labor requested that she should not come in there. When she hold up her hand to fix teh IV, we all just want to die. Everybody was scared to say anything, she walk around like nothing happens. ( she have to know, she have a problem) Anyway, one day it was her day off and meeting was called. The head nurse each one of us , if it was a problem and we told her yes. Anyway, after she is being 2month in that floor , the head nurse finally have to pull her to the office and talked to her about it. From what we heard, the girl claimed she should not be judged with personal hygiene, she do use deodrant (personal choice). But she agreed to use one if she going to offend the patients. Anyway, when summer endsm I left, but the othr day I saw one of the nurses and said now its on and off. She use it I guess when she feel like it. They are dealing with it , but thinking about getting some kind of reenforcement. No one to work with her and its becoming a problem. By the way, she too also not from here and I think its personal choice. I know a lot of people from her origin and I have only ROSE experience.

I agree, you have to be honest and come forward about the situation. After all you are human and humans make mistake. Learning from your mistake and coming on the top is also what we can do. When they call to check for refrence , thay are going to tell exactly why you are fired. Its better to explain it upfront. This a bad situation and I am very sorry this happen to you. Its so depressing to lose your job especially med. errors, because its huge. But how come they did not give you a chance???? Is is something you did before? I just hope employers just fire people for first time mistake. Its very scary. Now that I am going to start working, my first nursing job, this story is very scary. Good Luck and talk to people who had the same situation as you, ask how they bounce back. I am sure there are a lot of nurses this happend to them. You are not the only one. There has to be some hope!!

I had my first clinical today & I cried in the pt room in front of everyone.
This shows that you are one good hearted nurse. You possess a quality called Compassion. You cried because you cared!! I will take you as my nurse anyday. I did not cry, but Once as a student nurse I had a pt, responsive but + Deep wound in her leg and jsut a prisoner on the bed. She was desprate and it was hard to watch her.She was in her dead bed... it was such so hard to watch her and she was so young. Somehow I kept it together.I dont remember the details, I know she refuse blood transfuion for religious reasons. Anyway, she passed away when I came the next day.

How Far Would You Go?
wow! hard question , something I never thought about. My main thing, I will never deny Jesus Christ as my saviour. Anything other than that...maybe! But morals are what makes us who we are, make us a unique individuals... so its a tough one!! Okay, not even maybe ,whatever its is I won't do it!!

I got hired on the spot!!!
I just want to to say Thank You so much for all the support again and again. Thanks for the advice, most of you said what my mom said, " You gave your word and be thankful". I am so very happy and thankful. To be honest, a little voice in my head want the other job.But don't worry all I am not going to mess this one, they gave me on the spot with so mcuh love and appreciation. Now, for my dear, Blackhearted Nurse( Why Blackheart??) Anyway, I hope they call you back on Monday and let you know already, I know how you are feeling! Recruiters need to know, when they give a time frame they need to call within that time, so we can breath. Especially now, when the job market is low for nurses, and when a little hope can tear us apart.....its important to honor the word and say the Verdict!! Its such a terrible feeling just waiting and waitng for someone to call
