This is true too!!!! I agree with you!!!! I have seen many a med error occur because one knew it all. I guess for me its a matter of finding a balance and it goes back to teaching, sharing and like you say respecting one another.

You can do it! I started an LPN bridge program with a three moth old!!!! When I found out I was pregnant, I was like yeah I can do this! I will have this baby and be back in class in no time!!!! Well that wansn't the case! Had to have a c-section, in hospital 5 days, and missed the start of my nursing prgram. I was lucky enough to find out about the bridge program and started that when my son was three months old. I made it through with a good support system, husband, 10 year old son and moms!!! It was tough but as one replier said, you have to take it one day at a time, one test and a time, on clinical at a time!!! It can be done, just believe in yourself and you will make it!!!!! Quick note!!!!!! To all you bullying type nurses, you know who you are and what you are doing!!! You need to stop, embrace us and teach us what we need to know to be successful as RN's!!!!!

I think from the onset you have to stand up for yourself. I work for the VA and when I started there in 02 I ran across several bullying type nurses! I found most of them to be "jealous" of me from the beginning and didn't want to "show" you the way to succeed and hoped for failure. I was always labeled the "Uncle Tom" or "Miss Goody 2 Shoes" because I cared about my job and pts. For me, it was always a matter of standing up for myself, learning to speak up when I felt wrong was occurring or the assignment given was not right! Of course they didn't appreciate it but in the end, I wasn't messed with! They were few in between, but believe me you know them once you meet them! My advice: Don't be afraid to speak up or report them!

I worked as an LPN for 9 years before getting my RN, I started out in the Army Hospitals were we did mostly medication administation on the floor where i worked. After I got out, I hired on at the VA and worked a med surg floor where I went between med passer and total pt care. later I took a clinical position doing vitals and immuniz. ect, ect. A lot of my LPN firends work in nursing homes and one functioned as the charge nurse. Depending on what's out there now, I say grab it and get some experience under u!!

Before you say yes, sign or agree to anything, I would contact my immigration dept and also check with the board of nursing were you are. I wouldn't be quick to pay that much money too fast..... be carefull and check with others who may have done the same thing or have been in the same situation.

Ths is so true!!! It's a shame to say but most try to test you to see what you will or won't put up with as a new employee to their floor. As above I agree with writing them up but does it actually go anywere? I know where I work, the ones who are usually bad are promoted to some type of cush job, 9-5 with weekend and holidays off. It's bad because you hate to feel as though you can't trust the techs you depend on..... if no consequences are layed down at the onset, you can forget it! I soooo think the bad ones are foul, spiteful of us and jealous and feel you can't tell them what to do!!! They don't understand the "job" we are hired to do!! It's a shame you have to leave due to lack of support. I always believed if you want it go to school and get it like we did!

Having been an LPN for 9 years before becoming an RN I would recommend you check into all your options like looking at RN programs as well and mabye work on some pre reqs for your program while you are waiting. Like eveyone says school is tough and working full time may mot be an option so look at all the schools and even your collunity colleges too, they are cost effective as well. good luck to you!

It will!!!! This is so new for you. Once you are able to get organized and get a flow going you will notice how smoothly things may start to be. Just be sure you take time for your breaks and lunches away from the floor! You will be fine!!!!!

I feel bad for you. But you also have the right to feel like you are able to learn in a non-hostile environment. I think it may be the generation thing. I would problalby suggest asking her to slow down a bit and ask for things to be repeated if needed or so you can write them down. You are there to learn the job after all. Mabye she just doesn't see it or see anything wrong with her style of teaching or she may be looking at it like I have to get this done so I can get off on time! I hate for you to lose out on valuable knowlege she can give to you. Try talking to her again and let her know how she makes you feel and if that doesn't work, ask for someone new. Yeah I felt the same way you did after I took the exam earlier this month! I had two days of anxiety to be sure! When it cut off at 75 I was saying to myself, " I need more questions!" But I felt as though you were not given enough info. on some questions. I had a ton of select all that appy and I know other nurses have stated if you get a lot of those you will be okay. I had one place in order. Needless to say, I passed!!!!! Thank the Lord!!!! Good luck to you. Let us know how you did.:wink2:
