  1. Hi everyone , just wanted to ask your advice. My aunt had a small skin lesion removed from left side of her face under her eye. I removed my aunts sutures today (4 of them) as was arranged with us and her doctor. The procedure was performed at the oral / maxilla facial clinic 8 days ago. The sutures were very small. We had been following instructions to clean the wound twice daily. And we also applied chloromycetin ointment 3 times a day to the wound. The last couple of days I noted the wound was getting a bit red on the surrounding skin ? Perhaps irritation from the chloromycetin ? I removed the sutures and rang the clinic , they said to keep wound clean and cont with the chloromycetin ointment? But I didn’t get to talk to them , it was through the secretary so I couldn’t ask any questions. Have attached a picture ? What do you guys think ? I’ve applied a little bit of bethadine for the moment. Do you guys think it looks OK ? She is flying out of the country tomorrow on holidays. There has been no bleeding or pain. I’m not used to removing sutures from the face
  2. Ya, same in my hospital, doctors not physically assessing coivid patients. nurses main health care worker attending/seeing patient
  3. I was wondering are any of you guys in a similar situation? I live with my Grandma and I am worried I may put her at risk of Covid?.She is 78yrs old, albeit, she has never been and has no medical problems...…..Still she is in the high risk category of being an older person.I do not have covid -19, but I am nursing patients with it. I am doing everything to be careful. I am self isolating in my bedroom and talk to her from a distance with a mask or we catch up on the phone. I don't watch tv with her anymore like we used to do, we don't eat together anymore. Luckily, I have got my own shower and toilet.I am disinfecting anything I touch, which I am trying to keep to a minimum. I would move but I have literally no where else to go right now. And she does not wish for me to go. She says knowing I am in my room makes her feel less lonely. This woman is like my mom. She pretty much raised me. I moved states 4 years ago and I have been back home with her ever since. Is any of you guys in a similar situation , and what precautions are you guys taking?
  4. I am nursing covid patients and we are only been supplied with surgical masks! no hair cover /no shoe cover. one set of goggles u must keep cleaning yourself and keep …...…………….I don't know what to do ,I've expressed my concern to everyone, all on deaf ears though
  5. I want to buy my own FFP2 or N95 mask as I feel safer with them, but very hard to find online? are you guys wearing the same mask ?how are u cleaning them?
  6. Hi , not meaning to scare anyone but I am so anxious right now in this calm before the storm. I am preparing that I could die. And I don’t want to . does anyone else feel this way ? It doesn’t help that there is a shortage of correct PPE’s around the world. Apologies for such a morbid post. I am on verge of anxiety attack.
  7. HI ALL, I am badly looking for advice. I am a nurse in a medical ward. we received a patient who had been screened for COVID 19 in the Hospital they were coming from. We received patient. So patient was a/w test results for COVID 19, we were told as nurses we only needed white plastic apron , gloves and surgical mask to receive this patient. we disagreed and demanded we get the full protective gear. Ambulance crew transferring patient to us were wearing the same. Now patient tested neg for swab. So for next day all staff were using no precautions. Now we have discovered that she is a contact of a pt who has a confirmed covid 19 case. We are being told monitor her and again being told it is OK to wear a white plastic apron, surgical mask and gloves. Can somebody please please guide me on same. I am trying to find accurate guidelines for exactly what we should be wearing in all types of scenarios. Does anyone know?

Im just very nervous about it. :uhoh3:Any tips on what the day entails? Is it hard? thanks guys :)

  12. Its in ireland. I would train as a midwife for 18 months. But im worried if i do it i will lose all my nursing skills if i did decide after wards to go back to general nursing , rather than practice as a midwife.? In this course, you would be trained as a midwife on the wards and in the college, full time course.
  13. Hi all, I am a staff nurse (2 years qualified)and have recently been offerred a place on the 2 year midwifey diploma course. I always wanted to do this course and i think i would really enjoy it. My question is, if i do this course (2 years/18 months) , will i lose my general nursing skills? For example , if i did decide to go back and do general nursing after my course, do ye think this would be possible? ANY help really appreciated! I am trying to decide if i should take this offer. I would love to do it, but i dont want to lose my nursing skills in case i really miss general nursing and want to go back to it after the course. Has anyone else been in this situation? Thanks everyone in advacne :)
