I work on the floor and had something similar happen to me a few days ago.

It never hurts to be ahead of the game in the job hunt keeping in mind that the majority of hospitals will not consider you for a position until you have graduated and some not even until you pass NCLEX. I graduated in May 2011, I started applying for jobs in Feb and was not called back for a single interview until the first week of June. I took NCLEX the second week of June and was finally called back from that first interview and offered a job in the middle of July. Try to keep a positive outlook and good luck in your last semester and in finding a job.

No one will do your homework for you. Post a few nursing diagnoses on here to get feedback. You're more likely to get help that way.

I lucked out in the current market too. Graduated in May 2011, passed NCLEX in June, and had a job in July.

I didn't graduate from Calhoun but from Wallace in May. I was able to find a job pretty quickly. Since you are just starting school my number one piece of advice would be to make a really good impression with all of your clinical instructors and the nurses on the floor of your clinicals. Despite what most nursing students think they do watch you and remember who the good students are and will tell their managers those names. Good luck with school!!

If you are trying to get into super competitive program you may need to consider retaking anatomy again so you can get your grades up.

I would gladly give any vet extra points for a nursing school admit, job, etc for fighting for and preserving my freedom.

First thing you should worry about is passing boards. No one will consider you for a position until you are done with NCLEX. Once that is taken care of apply for everything you possibly can (full time, part time, PRN, per diem, etc). No matter what they call you in for it's a foot in the door. Also, did you stay in contact with any of your clinical instructors? Sometimes they can help you out by mentioning you to their nurse manager. I also graduated in May from an ADN program and the only reason I have a job is because I stayed in contact with my clinical instructor from second semester. Last thing, don't give up! Even if it takes you six months the job you are meant to have is out there.

I would recommend hurst review. The instructors make the content fun and easy to understand. You'll also get some good study tips. Good luck.

I had to use a contact I made during my second semester in clinical. My instructor told me to call her as soon as I graduated and she would help me get an interview. She did and I start my new job in a week and a half.

Absolutely bullying occurs in nursing and unfortunately some of it begins in nursing school among students, clinical instructors, faculty members, and nurses at the clinical facility. The best way to avoid it? Try to stay away from the cliques and don't participate in any of the gossip sessions that regularly occur.

I did! I passed with 75 questions and will be starting my job on 8/1. Have you taken boards yet?

I also just graduated from Wallace in May. The program is very fair and the faculty really care about their students.

Has a new nursing graduate (I got my ADN) I would strongly suggest you just go to USA and get your BSN. Most hospitals that I know of would prefer to hire someone with a BSN over an ADN. Good luck!!

The schools here do not require CNA certification prior to starting nursing school. You may want to consider just going on with an ADN or BSN program since you have so many classes completed and your GPA looks great. Rumor has it that most hospitas have or will stop hiring LPNs pretty soon (so you would be working in a Dr's office or nursing home). If you attend a community college you will have an ADN degree in 5 semesters (about a year and a half). Good luck with your move.

FYI- if you are interested in cont your education and going for a BSN you might want to make sure that the classes at Virginia college will be accepted by a higher level college.

It should be on your application info. If not I think that an A = 4pts, B = 3pts, and C=2pts. Good luck and hope you get accepted! With your grades and GPA I don't see much of a problem with that happening though. :)

I would definitley try to have your anatomy classes out of the way before you start nursing school. It will help a lot with understanding the material and be one less class for you to worry about once you get into nursing school and don't have much time for anything else. Good luck!

Wallace does not accept a nursing class during the summer, only spring and fall. I would check out the Alabama Board of Nursing website and look at NCLEX pass rates for the schools you are considering attending. That will tell you alot about the caliber of nurses graduating from the program. Good luck on getting into the program you choose!

You may want to hold off on renting text books if your just starting a nursing program. Many of the books I had to buy last semester we will be using again in the upcoming semesters.

Wallace students dohave to have calculate with confidence. It is the main book you will be using in pharmacology for your first semester.

I found some white slip on merrells that are awesome. Good arch support and they clean up easy. I found them on zappos.com.

calculate with confidence is an excellent book. you may want to check out the nursing made easy books. they have one for dosage calculations and pharm.

They set you up in blocks to make scheduling easier for your first semester. Don't worry about it. They will cover everything at orientation. I strongly suggest to everyone who gets in to go get a regular flu shot and an H1N1 vaccine. Clinical sites are not allowing students in their building next semester if you don't have them in addition to all your other vaccines. Congrats to everyone who got in. It's a wild ride!!
