  1. Wow i just realized you posted that in august...lol! Did anyone create a group?
  2. I second that! Hello everyone I got accepted to the WHNP program beginning in may! Can't wait to start!
  3. I didn't have an interview. Hang in there the wait is brutal but it will be over soon!
  4. I heard back about a month after the application was complete and submitted for review. Im doing WHNP the part time schedule not sure about FNP
  5. No haven't heard much. Was just told that they are just starting to review apps again now since the holidays. Said they probably won't send out official letters until march :/. It's frustrating to say the least. I'm sorry you didn't get in. You're right it's their loss! Don't let this stop you!
  6. Have you heard anything back yet? I'm anxiously waiting to hear something also
  7. Thanks! I appreciate the response! I can't wait to find out if i got accepted! The suspense is killing me
  8. Hello, I applied to the whnp at UC starting in may 2016. I was wondering how long it took for you to hear back. Do you have access to the syllabus for statistics and pharm or maybe a book list? I am excited and would like to get a head start if i can! Good luck in the program!
  9. Labor and Delivery can be very intense...especially as a new grad. L&D nurses are responsible for monitoring the well being of both a mother and her fetus during their labor, deliver, and immediately following delivery. For the most part we function completely independently from the other units in the hospital except for maybe the ER and sometimes ICU. Like the ER, you have to be prepared for unexpected emergencies (i.e. maternal seizures, fetal demise, maternal hemorrhage, maternal and neonatal codes, oh ya and unexpected change in fetal/maternal status causing you to rush your pt back to the OR for a c-section). We care for patients with many types of comorbidities (i.e. cardiac/renal/hepatic disorders, psych disorders), prisoners, and must always be prepared to deliver a baby in the absence of a physician. On top of all of that we are required to chart every 5-15 min depending on the situation. Every hospital is different but at mine we circulate our own c-sections and recover (PACU) our patients afterwards. It is also not uncommon for us to catch/transition our own babies. We don't have CNAs so we do everything ourselves (i.e. removing meal trays, toileting, vitals, ADLs, you name it we do it! I started in L&D as a new grad, and although it is intense and the stress level can be extreme at times, I have yet to regret it! It definitely keeps you on your toes :)! Good luck with your decision!
  10. They pay you during the residency program.
  11. I took NCLEX-RN today at 8 am and got the good pop up at 12:30pm! I am so happy!!!! It worked when I took NCLEX-PN so i have no doubt it will work again! Yay!
  12. The schools do not have preset clinical sites. They told us they have to "fight for slots" at the various hospitals each semester. I went to EMCC and our class had clinicals at Healthsouth, Glencroft, Arrowhead hospital, Banner Estrella, Banner Thunderbird, Del Webb, Hacienda, and St. Joe's. All of the schools do not use the same sites they basically have to take what they can get. Hope this helps!
  13. I honestly wouldn't know everything I heard was strictly word of mouth and I haven't attended either so I really couldn't say sorry .
  14. Hi kouklasou From what I have heard from many students who did the LPN-RN route from the southwest skill center and then went on to EMCC the transition is really difficult. She wasn't lying to you when she told you many students who went that route didn't make it past block 3. I decided to become an LPN after completing block 2 of the RN program. They require you to take a short (I think it was approx. 3 weeks) LPN bridge course (NUR 191) and then you can take NCLEX-PN. Although, the course is very short, it definitely helps get you ready for Block 3. Here are some ideas: 1) Take classes that will transfer to a university for your BSN (thats if your planning on getting that). 2) I would recommend taking a pathophysiology class if you haven't already (you will be VERY happy you did later) 3)Other classes I found helpful were healthcare spanish and food and nutrition (FON241) 3)Many of my instructors recommend getting ANY job you can in a hospital (i.e. housekeeping, food services, patient care tech., unit secretary) because it will increase your chances of getting a job after your graduate. I hope this helps good luck!
  15. I just purchased my quick results and I PASSED! PVT works and thank goodness!!!!!
  16. Thank you so much! It's funny because its a gloomy rainy day here in AZ where its usually ALWAYS sunny but nothing can get me down! I cant wait for Monday so I can get my quick results !

  20. Hello all, I finally received my ATT today after weeks of waiting for my school to send my graduation information to the board of nursing. I scheduled my test for Saturday, July 31 because I feel more than ready! I am so excited! I have been "stalking" these threads daily waiting for the day I get to chime in and its today! Yay! Hopefully the next time I post it will be to say "I PASSED NCLEX-PN" ! Wish me luck, Trina0606
  21. I just searched for the old post about the color of the screen and according to the OP if your screen turns blue you passed and if it turns gray you fail. Good Luck!
  22. I absolutely HATE when this happens! LOL Im glad im not the only one .
  23. Congrats!:anpom:
  24. I am in the RN program at EMCC and we have to take the HESI every semester but we are not required to pass in order to graduate. It is worth 30 points which is about the equivalent of a test grade. We use is as a tool to see how prepared we are to take NCLEX. This is the last thing you want to stress about right now;)
