  1. I my self am a product of a BSN program and I am all for all nursing being BSN products as well. Do I think it is going to happen??? Probably not. I work where about 90% of the nurses are ADN graduates and believe me you can tell. Now don't get me wrong there are great ADN grads as well as horrible BSN grads.
  2. 5 cc here, but ALWAYS ALWAYS check you policies and procedures for your facility.
  3. I am also I new RN-with a BSN and my advice to you is to stay with your child and make the extra money...your child is only young once you should be there to enjoy it...atleast I wish my mother was around when I was younger!!! Nurses will always be needed, but then again you may lose your knowledge if you don't use it!!!???? this is something you will have to ponder!!!!
  4. i am an RN and to tell you the truth I think that getting your RN rather than going for your LVN is a much better route...The respect and the pay are much better!!! Good luck with your decision!!!!!
  5. It isn't about the numers or the ratios it is all about the acuity....I work in California and where I work we are going to 4:1. I work in an Acute rehabilitation setting and we have been working with six patients on night shift and some times I am bored out of my mind and other times I can bearly even breath. It really depends on the acuity of your patients and not the amount of patients!!!!!
  6. Although you are an LVN, RN is very different and I totally recommend going to an RN accredited school.
  7. Wow people are getting nasty in here!!!! Anyway to post a reply to the question I think if you want expecience CNA is the way to go...Although I was never an aide until the end of my junior year. It really helped me to learn how things really work rather than how the professiors teach you...I strongly recommend taking an internship as well..I would take it when you get the basic knowledge down..there is nothing wrong with learning in any profession!!!!Good luck and I hope you figure out what to do...I think someone wrote about a phlebotomist (i think that is how you spell it) that is a great idea. I graduated in May 2003 and I am now an RN and that is one of the toghest things to learn how to do!!!! Good luck!!!
  8. No doubt about it...Yeah the hours suck and people can be mean and you are exposed to gross diseases and such...BUT nothing beats that smile you get when a patient appretiates your kindsness and your care. and mothing beats when someone tells you you are a great nurse> And I love when someone says THANK YOU. I have only been a nurse for four months, but this is the only profession I would ever want to stess out about!!!!
  9. You passed...I just took the nclex two months ago and I only recieved 75 questions and passed. I fyou were failing thetest you would have gotten more questions to prove yourself...stop stressing you will pass!
  10. Your resume should be factual and not give your wants or desires, that should go in your cover letter. use the web to assist you or go to your school's job counseling center, that helped me
  11. I used nclex rn study book. I took my test four months after I graduated and it only took me 75 questions to pass. All you have to remember are the fundamentals of nursing ABC. Take the test asap don't wait too long and don't read into the questions too much!!! Good luck.
  12. Congrats, but don't forget the NCLEX. I studied the NCLEX book I bought and the cd rom really helped too... always remember ABC. The questions are soo easy they are hard and don't forget to prioritize. You can do it!!!!Let us know how you did!
