  11. has anyone heard anything??
  12. congrats! also, i just had a question...what did you say each time you called? did you think of new things to ask them? or just asking if they have everything? how did you start the dialogue? i just feel like i hit a wall as i really really want to call and talk with them..just dont know what to say so that it doesn't seem as though I'm bugging them, you know?
  13. I give kudos to any and all students who can read all their assigned reading. I, for whatever, reason can not get through it. Usually it was hundreds of textbook pages of reading for each class each week...and i couldnt do it. So I would read the summary points and do review questions. I would purchase the workbook and/or review book for each textbook (even when they weren't required by the class) and i would do all the review problems and use the CD for more problems to help master the material instead that way. If I was confused about anything that we went over in class, then i would look it up in the book. Hope that helps. Good luck!! :)
  14. I just graduated at age 22 this past may....now I may be 45 by the time new grad positions open up haha jk
  15. has anyone who has used one of these pens find that was helpful?
  16. that is amazing!! i cant wait to be able to be that comfortable and bold if need be!
  17. We had ATI throughout nursing school and i felt beaten and battered after taking the cap exam after each class. but i took the predictor exam at the end and was told i had a 95% chance of passing the nclex. there was no way i was going to let myself just hope on that happening. so i took the 2 week Kaplan class 4 days a week and am sooo thankful i did. kaplan helps you think through everything. i really didnt think i needed hours of another company's review class to go over 4 years of material. i felt i would have been overwelmed...in just the realization that i have forgotten the smallest details from different classes. nclex isnt about the smallest details of the kidneys etc...its about how to take a situation with certain information and make a decision for this patient you are caring for or prioritizing etc. take kaplan! hands down! and kaplan also has a review book that goes over some things you may have forgotten. good luck! :)
  18. Hi DebRN, do you happen to know what is needed to apply to the new grad programs at john muir...like how many letters of rec did they ask for? did they need specifically a certain amount of letters from certain individuals (i.e. 2 letters of rec re: academics)? were their essays on the application? anything else? there isn't an application open right now that i can see to start filling out in preparation for the next new grad period. thanks so much for your help!!
  19. Hi Hireme, Can you please email me the list as well... Thank you so much!! and good luck in NV!!! what hospital/dept are you working in?

  21. thank you so much!! I graduated from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland. On the short essay page, it says to fill them in with the space provided (they give 3 lines for the 9 questions)...did they have that with you? did you type it up? and if so, did you type it up ON the form or you just re-type the form? sorry for all the questions. :)
  22. im applying to LPCH and was curious how long were your essays? do you like working there? any one specifically to speak with (nurse manager) etc that would help? my first choice is CVICU and 2nd is transplant. thank youuuu!!!
  23. i just graduated last week and i wish i could post a happier post but sadly, i am jobless. out of 60 students in our class, not one has a job. they said by march of this year, the entire class usually has a job lined up for after graduation but no such luck where are all the new grad positions???? i may move to san diego, jacksonville FL, salem OR, or stay in bay area (depending where the bf gets into law school).... but where are the jobs??
  24. thanks vegasemt for all the info. i'm graduating in a few weeks in CA and looking at vegas. what do you think about desert springs or valley hospital in the valley system? versus Centennial Hills and summerlin? are the hospitals in the valley system unionized? thank you!!
