Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
Praise the Lord! I passed! The trick worked for me...definitely helped me calm the nerves and anxiousness. Something else to obssess about while waiting for the results, you know...? Instead of checking the mailbox on a daily basis or calling BVNPT to harass them. By the way, to all the CALIFORNIANS here, I took my NCLEX-PN on August 19th, and I finally received my results today, although technically it got mailed out on September 22nd. Took me 5 weeks and 2 days. YES, I HAVE been counting the days. So I hope this helps with a rough estimate on when you will be receiving your results. Good luck to y'all! :)

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
my classmate just called and she received the happy PASS letter! she took her NCLEX on Aug. 5th and when i told her about the trick, she was skeptical about it. however, she just mentioned "I GUESS THE TRICK WORKS AFTER ALL!" i'll let you know when i get the PASS letter...but so far, so good.

Which is the best review course for preparing for the NCLEX exam?
i also studied with Saunders CD, book and NCSBN studying guide. if you choose to do NCSBN, don't even bother with the 3 weeks or 5 weeks. the pharmacology section alone takes a good week and a half to read/learn thoroughly. i purchased 5 weeks and ended up regretting it, wishing i could have spent more time studying. good luck!

Saunders Nclex Review too easy?
sorry, i can only provide perspective as an NCLEX-PN taker, but... Saunders questions are easy compared to the real NCLEX questions. as carolinagurl said, no amount of studying could prepare anyone for that crazy test. some NCLEX questions are real basic and simple, compared to the crazy paragraphs from Saunders CD...but the answers are so hard to figure out. i also studied with the NCSBN studying guide. if anything, that helped me more than Saunders. maybe give that a try. but again, NCLEX is some crazy test.

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
i am more than grateful to have found this thread. otherwise, i would still be in agony and drown myself in sorrow and live the life of an insomniac. i, at least, was able to find some comfort in this "trick" and obtain a peace of mind. having said that, what some of us would appreciate, is that those who participate in this thread would stop asking the ultimate/repetitive/same "how do you do the trick?" question. some members have been generous enough to explain the process and the theory behind it over and over again, whether in their own words or copied & pasted those of others. IF, and only if, people would take their time to go through (even a handful of) the posts and do some research before asking the obvious...make sense? however, i must agree and understand that there must be a reason as to why the Adms haven't made a sticky out of this popular subject. well said, it's all up to them.

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
according to some anecdotes, people have called VUE.com to confirm whether the pop-up is enough of a justification/validation to start celebrating. of course VUE.com hasn't provided a straightforward answer, but go figure... as far as calling BON, they aren't responsible for VUE.com, so how would BON know about anything...?

Why is LVN to RN a waste of time?
oh, sorry. to answer to the thread question specifically, i wouldn't say LVN-RN is a waste of time. any opportunity to learn is a God given opportunity to gain more experience. what i think is a waste of time, is the process of waiting around until getting picked for the program.
-
Why is LVN to RN a waste of time?
i don't know how things work at other cities/counties/districts, but according to my research within LA district, LVNs are offered the so-called "left overs". priority is given to the traditional RN or BSN students, then transfer students, yaddi yaddi yadda, and after everyone else is taken care of...then it's our turn. i was even told by 2 RN program representatives (from different schools) that nowadays, doing LVN first is not recommended as priority is granted to regular RN applicants. hey, they said it, not me. i knew it wasn't going to be easy, but boy, why is getting into a bridge program OVERTLY DIFFICULT?!

got 85 questions for NCLEX-PN. (i don't know how you guys keep track of the exact # of SATAs!!) roughly, i got about 12 SATAs. i'm horrible with SATAs, but i think i had higher chances with them than the 7 pharm questions...on meds that i've never heard of.

well, the automated computer system eventually let you register and directed you to the payment page, hence the reason why you were able to submit $200 to re-register for the NCLEX. bottom line, whether you weren't given the chance to take the exam or failed, you were directed to the (crucial) payment page. which is the ultimate page we all dread to be directed to.

CA NCLEX TAKERS PLS READ THIS ( How would u see ur name of BON )
only 1,000? c'mon Prado, we can estimate about 75% of frustrated Californians are posting on that thread. about sending the $75 to BVNPT to try as a substitute to the VUE trick... are you seriously willing to send them a check and expect to get it back...? you go right ahead and let us know how that goes for you. let me warn you, it just might take you half a year or so to get the refund. good luck. my

CSN: LPN to RN Bridge Program
oh creepy...i'm in the same situation as you are in matt! 1. we have to go through the process of CA LVN ---> NV LPN. there's instruction on the BVNPT (CA) website. i'm in a bit of rush though because i want to apply for Spring '10 and the deadlines in most schools seem to be during the month of September. by the time we take the NCLX-PN, get our LVN licenses, and go through the whole process of request CA LVN ---> NV LPN, i have a feeling we won't make it for Spring of next year. 2. any person would advice you against completing pre-reqs while in the RN program solely because the program in itself is too much to handle. plus i thought anatomy, physiology and microbiology have to be completed prior applying...? 3. same as #1. NV RN ---> CA RN. i don't know about NV, but i do know in CA some schools offer the LVN to RN 30 units option, which RESTRICTS your practice within CA. so matt, have you done any pre-reqs in CA schools? i can't figure out how the transfer process is like...and whether NV schools will even accept my classes/credits. could anyone help me with that...?

Why is finding a nursing school so hard?
well, first of all, i'll start with GOOD LUCK. when i started my classes at a CC in LA district, no one, i mean absolutely NO student was willing to help me out due to high competition in the field of nursing. even the counselor i saw back then didn't help me out that much. well guess what, she isn't even around anymore. go figure...given the competence at her job... so here it goes. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT REPEAT MORE THAN ONCE in Anatomy, Physiology or Microbiology (some schools take Chemistry into consideration as well). *remember this* now, i understand the frustration of not being able to register in the pre-reqs, especially Anatomy and Physiology, but go the first (many) days and stick around. with the budget cuts in LADCCs, a lot of classes were dismissed, but the teachers understand the situation as well and most of the time, are pretty generous about giving out add slips. if possible, try to start off with Anatomy, Chem, Math and English during Fall '09. (make sure your placement tests are over with!) then second semester, try for Physiology, General Psychology, American Gov't, Language, Sociology third semester Microbiology, Life Span Psychology, American History, Nutrition, Speech fourth, whatever you've got left. it's going to take you (minimum) 4 semesters to complete the pre-reqs. let me remind you, whatever you do, DO NOT REPEAT science classes. i'm cursing myself because i've got 2 repeats and bottom line, i can't apply to any LADCCs. also remember not to take more than 6 semesters with the pre-reqs since a lot of schools have the 5 years recency policy for science classes. you want to give yourself some grace period during the time you apply and (possibly) reapply if rejected or wait listed. another route is to simply apply into a 4 years college/university as undergrad student and try for their BSN program eventually. you still have to complete the pre-reqs, of course, and there's no guarantee in into their nursing program, but i'm sure the chances are higher when applied within the same institution. other than that, if money isn't a huge factor as compared to time (think 4 years!), West Coast is the way to go. i hope i was of some help. again, good luck!

Does a degree from west coast university transfer to cal state?
i completely agree with this... and the problem is that most...ok let's say ALL schools with RN - BSN program have 5 years recency requirements for science courses (Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology; some include Chem). so if you plan on going to WCU for the ADN (RN) program, make sure you take the core science classes at CCs right before the program, so that by the time you get your RN, your credits will still be valid for transfer to UC/CSU!

"Delete and Repeat" Grade Policy?
like caliotter3 said, there are petitions you can fill out for "academic forgiveness" for F's and once the petition goes through, the fails won't affect your cummulative GPA. as far as the transcript is concerned however, it still shows that you've taken the classes. i say keep your C. i just hope you did well on the rest of the pre-reqs. P.S. what i wrote only goes along with my personal experiences at LACC however. i'm not sure how other schools go on about their businesses, but i've never heard of F's and W's magically disappearing from the transcript.

a first Foley insertion story
I had a classmate that was simply, OUT THERE (as in 4th dimension). So one day, she gets a very agitated and combative pt to do an in-and-out foley on. There's 5 of us + intructor in the room. 2 of us are holding the pt's arm and leg, the other 2 doing the same on the other side. The pt, of course, gets even more agitated. The intructor goes over each step but the girl's just staring back blankly. She opens the package and starts preparing the necessary equipment, but takes her own sweet time. Meanwhiles, many of us are getting spitted on or punched or kicked by the pt, and we are all sweating and running out of energy. Irritated, the intructor helps her set up some of the stuff, and finally tells her, "now, put on your sterile gloves. But remember, they are sterile. You do remember the technique of putting on sterile gloves, right?" The student nods yes, and proceeds to very gently and carefully grab one of the sterile gloves from the edge of the middle finger, FROM THE OUTSIDE!!!! We all sigh by that point. And I'm sorry, but I had to walk out of the room when the intructor told the girl to bring a new package of foley and start all over again.

LPN nurses and O.P.T.
Thank you for your concern! Well, I'm attending a small vocational school, and apparently they take care of everything. And I sure hope so for the ridiculous amount in fees they charge! But I will definitely confirm the OPT status at school tomorrow (well later today). Thank you again. I recently became aware of the fees, and my heart literally sank. I can't believe the money they try to take from my pockets until the end! The problem for me, was all in the timing. Well, more like lack of awareness and miscalculations. I was hoping to finish the LVN program, get the license, apply for the bridge program, get into the RN program and get things done BAM BAM BAM! But it's all more complicated than I had imagined. Shame.
