How do you guys deal with RNs who hate having students? I had this one nurse who said maybe 10 words the whole night, disappeared frequently, would give me one word answers when I had questions, would not let me pass meds, etc!!! I was so frustrated ...

I would contact HR and inquire... Let them know the job ID # and they should be able to give you some info...good luck.

Shake your hands and take some nice deep steady breaths, try not to focus on others if you're being observed. Deep down you know how to do the skill so just have confidence in yourself while maintaining patient safety and privacy. Good luck.

Funny because I know of several students who've gotten hired at their desired positions which included ICU, ED.. That being said they also had prior experience as LPNs. I understand there are A LOT of student nurses who are not qualified.....

That's hilarious, I wanted to be a marine biologist as well but that's only bc my father is a biologist and I've been a fish since I was a wee one.

What's wrong with that? Seriously?? This board is becoming so negative, shame on you nurses for continuously discouraging new grads and students.

The only thing I use an otoscope for is to check on the status of the ear wax ball that I'm trying to flush out.

Plus it's quicker to get into an LPN to RN bridge program than it is as a general RN student, plus you get tons of experience and are more confident when you get to clinicals.
