  1. I am a CVT that decided I wanted to go into nursing too. I have an AA and and AS in veterinary technology. The ONLY 3 classes that transfered over were english, chem and biology. I had to take everything else including algebra. It took me 2 years taking 2 classes at a time (I work too) to finish the pre reqs for the RN program, but I am now done. You are lucky if they transfer your credits. When I went to the university to talk about the BSN program they also would not transfer any of my vet tech classes. When I first started taking A&P class I thought it was going to be easy since I know a lot of animal anatomy. I was way wrong. It is much more detailed and difficult. However, I made it through all the classes and I am now ready for the nursing program in the fall. One last note. I am in the ASN/BSN concurrent progam and it will be very very difficult to work with that schedule. Start saving money now. Good luck
  2. At my school it is not required for the ASN program, but you must have 2 semesters of a foreign language for the BSN program. Good luck
  3. I also LOVE my Olympus digital voice recorder. I have the DS-40. I record my class, then d/l to my laptop (mostly as a back-up). I spend a good majority of the day walking around with ear buds and my voice recorder. I can not count the number of nights I fell asleep listening to one of my classes. I agree with a lot of what Water83 wrote. It is a great investment.
  4. I'm waiting too. Yesterday was 3 weeks since applications were due and we were told 4-6 weeks wait. Good luck to everyone :anbd:
  5. You are AWESOME!!! We just started basic stuff with mean mode etc. She gave us a formula (I may have written it wrong) m-r=(m/max)/2 to help figure our range, mid range, mode, median mean, stand dev. and variance. I can't get it to work. This is my homework Find 7 basic measurements: 1. 4, 5, 5, 6, 3, 2, 5, 5, 7, 8, 4, 5, 6, 8 2. 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 7, 8, 9, 7, 6, 5, 5, 4 Which of the two answers are not correct and why Answers: 1. - 2. (first number is for 1 and 2nd for 2) Range 6 - 7 Mid-range 5 - 5. (I think this is wrong, but why?) Mode 5 - 5 Median 5 - 5 Mean 5.21429 - 4.93333 Stan Dev 1.71772 - 2.18654 Variance 2.95055 - 4.78095 Thank you!!!
  6. OMG...I feel like an idiot. Today was my first class and I am lost using excel and Statistics. Does anyone know of a good website or ideas that can help me? I am taking this class 4 days a week for 6 weeks. The girl next to me was not very friendly or helpful. I am hoping to get a new seat tomorrow. Any help is much appreciated
  7. Spanish 1 and Statistics Summer A and Spanish 2 Summer B. I have everything else done.
  8. It was a rough semester. I took college algebra and sociology. I loved sociology, but college algebra was difficult. I am so jealous. I finished my finals last Thursday and summer classes start next Monday. I get a WHOLE week off.
  9. I was very interested in taking microbiology, but my instructor was rough. I know someone who had the same class with a different instructor and loved it. I would spend 10 or more hours just on the weekends studying and the person I know studied a little before the test. My exams were all critical thinking with 2 answers really really close. Her exams were multiple choice and very straight forward. I don't mind being challenged, but it can be frustrating when someone gets an easier class/professor and a better grade and a higher gpa and a better shot at nursing school. Different people have different ways to learn. I like flash cards and study groups. Some people record the class and re-write all their notes when they get home. Like sweetea said a going basic knowledge of biology and chemistry helps a great deal. Good luck :)
  10. I just feel bad for the person who buys it from me. I keep hoping I learn through some kind of osmosis
  11. I am in college algebra feeling the same way. OMG!!! I pretty much sleep with my textbook
  12. WOW! And I thought I was crazy taking Spanish 1 and 2 over the summer (6 weeks each) I just don't see how the brain can retain all that information. We gotta do what we gotta do. :) Good luck
  13. Congrats!!! I can only imagine how you feel. I apply next week for the fall 09 program. Good luck
  14. Welcome!! And a big congrats on getting into the program. I am fairly new here too. I am applying to the fall program in a little over a week. I applied for the spring program, but I did not get in. My schools number one qualifier is how long ago you finished your pre-reqs. (I finished last summer) While I wait to get into the ASN program I decided to finish up my pre-reqs for the BSN progam. I am 41 with no children and recently lost my job due to my school schedule. My boss was tired of changing things around every semester. He finally decided enough is enough. However I worked my butt off for him almost 8 years. I am now trying to decide what to do while I wait to see if I get into the fall program. I am looking into volunteering to get some experience. My hubby has a very stable job and is supportive. I find myself getting depressed that I don't have a job, but it is very difficult to find one. I am also really cutting back on expenses. We don't go out to dinner and I am much more aware of what I am buying at the grocery store. I just really hope I get into the fall program. Good luck in the program. PB Pointer
  15. I am a pre-nursing student busting my butt to get good grades and finally get into nursing school. I am taking college algebra right now and it is very difficult for me. The guy next to me comes in late and asks a bunch of questions on stuff he missed b/c he was late, he is very disrespectful in my opinion. He always wants to borrow paper and a pencil from me or others too. Today while taking the exam I notice he is using his iphone to look up formulas and such. I thought he was doing that during the last exam, but I didn't pay much attention. Until I saw he got a 96 on the first exam and I barely got a B. Today I found him distracting b/c I kept seeing him look up stuff and send/receive text messages. I decided to tell the instructor. I felt it was the right thing to do. When I told my husband he said that I shouldn't have said anything. That is up to the instructor to notice. Plus - if the guy finds out I said something he might retaliate on me. Please let me know what you would do. Do you think I just being petty b/c of his good grade compared to mine?? Should I just worry about myself? Thanks :) PBPointer
